Just a question here... Originally, mods were restricted because people on console couldn't have mods, so most mods were restricted in an attempt to "level the field", eh? Since that's no longer entirely true, I am curious as to whether we would continue restricting mods that are essentially available to everybody? Perhaps my biggest complaint with the competitions is simply the lack of mods because frankly, vanilla Skyrim is boring whether played on Legendary or not. On that note, I'd like to further point out that while difficulty gets a point advantage spread that maxes out at Legendary, there is no point spread for adding in mods that increase difficulty. Now that mods are more prevalent, more universally available, shouldn't we perhaps think about addressing some of that? |

Would it ever be in our interests at some point to make a list of either ok mods, or no go mods that are commonly used? I know the resto loop is fixed by the Unofficial Patch, as is the trainer follower one. I always see the suggestion to send Richard your load order, but wouldn't it be a good idea to be able to check off some of the prime offenders without him having to go through them all? |

You'd end up with a case where everyone has to install a certain mod in order to have the same playing field. A mod that some folks may not like. No one should feel compelled to grab a certain mod because someone else is. That'd be my concern. |

Most console mods do not equate to the original pc source mod.... For example we can get a much harder dragons mod....but its not configuable...the dragon health, damage and what not is fixed. PS4 players have even more slimmed down selections and functionality. As yet I am still on X360....not that I can't battle against minor mods where advantage is gained. But I can't toughen my game to match tougher mods. |

I understand that console mods are still in their infancy, and I certainly didn't mean that we should go all gung ho with the idea in a real rush, but as time goes by console mods will become ever more sophisticated. I'm thinking of the future more than the present because that is the nature of things, eh? Imagine an Olympic shooting competition where the rules state that only black powder can be used because some rifles don't shoot real bullets... or a Grand Prix race that only allows Model T engines... I was also thinking more of mods like "convenient horses" where the advantage gained is minimal, but the convenience is large... and I don't see why competitors would necessarily have to install the same mods like it or not. Quite frankly I believe mod selection is just as integral to successful playing as the selection of skills or "magic, stamina, or health". Edited by neildarkstar, Nov 4 2016, 10:15 PM.

Simple fix: Send me your mod list or don't enter at all (if you have mods). |

Richard I don't think that's what is meant... The discussion is more...what can we allow in the future.. not what IS allowed. Can we allow mods to enter the equation... which kind...what exact ones....etc. It's a discussion, which means open ended statements. |

There's just too many mods for us to keep track of, that's why I ask everyone to send me their mod list, so I can look at every single mod and see if it's good or not |

It is also pissible to allow a console player who can not match tougher mods on his system, to compete gimped by some other means to a degree which is mutually acceptable as appropriate forfeiture. And.....in competitions I do not believe that mod lists should be secret either. There is no good reason to hide mods from view....if you think others might not like what you've been allowed to use for your play through...chances are its because it gives you unfair advantage in some way. And its not always obvious since many mods are multi function. For example....convenient horses What could be wrong with using that even if someone else can't get it? It just makes horses more sensible and able to be whistled.... Well if you have ever tried to fight bandits with a vanilla horse getting in the way you'd know...or simply not being able to find the damn thing after it ran off in the dark. And that's why I always ask people to NOT use the features of convenient horses/disable the mod... As I've been saying for the LONGEST TIME, send me the mod lists, I'll check every single mod as hard as I can to make sure no one gets no advantage |

I have no issue with sending my Mod list, never have. Rick, depends on which toggle one uses in Convenient Horses... - Essential -foolhardy/coward -carry weight - make a container -follow I generally ( out of competition) make my horses cowardly, follow and essential other than that I don't mess with the toggles for PC, I do for follower options. |

Not to quibble, but you know in the past in nearly ALL of the competitions I have played with Deadly Dragons and Enemies enhanced, and several other mods that make the game more interesting, dangerous, and difficult from a DiD perspective. What I don't understand is somebody quibbling about an advantage given by convenient horses in the face of all that adversity... Just doesn't make sense to me. Isn't gonna happen this time though... |

Hmm... I should start rewarding people with some more points if they have mods that make the game even harder. Then that would be pretty fair, no? Also, console players can have the Convenient Horses mod now, can't they? |

I think I did one competition with D.D. and Immersive Creatures...got killed..by...something, never saw it. Richard... that is something the DiD community need's to discuss as a whole and perhaps a poll.. adding in off difficulty mods would keep it interesting for those that really like a challenging game.. That in itself would need exact rules. I'm not sure, haven't been keeping up because of the data ( and USB issue). Edited by Areial, Nov 5 2016, 09:14 AM.

Hmm I'd say discuss during this competition and then run a short but fun competition in December, using a small listing. ...as a trial run. Reasoning.. many people have to much to do to run a long competition, Christmas being a busy time for all. We can all see how the Mod's effect a short game. I actually have a few suggestions already, that can be discussed... but I think another thread would be in order for that discussion.. kept ON topic... keep this one for talk about this competition and the Official competition thread to updates, pictures..and that kinda thing.. Reasoning on that...it's pretty hard to keep up with what everyone is doing with one small update and 3 pages of chatter.. IMO |

Convenient Horses has a horse inventory. Horse call and "horse runs like a b in combat" were primarily what I used it for. Follower horses were a bonus. Now I just have a "horses essential" and a "horse whistle" mod. :/ Really missing SKSE. Richard, my statement was more to do with trying to alleviate you running off and having to check. |
