I have no idea how many hours I've played these games, but I know it's at least 1000 hours a year, and I've been playing TES since Arena.

I got my first computer just about 40 years ago (Commodore Pet.) I've probably spent something like 4-5 hours a day on the computer since then, maybe half of it playing games. That's probably 30000 hours playing games.

No wonder I never get anything done. ;)

Um. Me too, glargg. First computer in 1984. First CRPG in 1985. Untll 2000 I spent most all day every day on the computer playing games, writing, whatever. 2000 I went back to work to finish up the quarters for SSA. Worked until 2005, while I was running a website design and maintenance business in the evenings (and used computers at work of course).

2005 I retired (again - first time was 1980) - and started playing games again as well as running my business (I didn't play games while working those years - 2 hour commute, plus 8 hours at work plus an hour lunch.... and since I tend to be obsessive about games - nope, couldn't go there).

Now - I just play Skyrim. Retirement is for what I want to do that's fun. That would be at this point Skyrim.

Hours in games..... well.... just thinking about the last year.... and multiplying that by a LOT of years when I played games.....

Probably 100k hours.

I never owned my own computer until oh, about 2000 I guess. Before that though, I started on computers at work in the mid 1980s. "Q&A" and "Lotus 123" . In those days I was working 12 hours a day six days a week, and probably spent 8 hours day on the computer.

I started using a computer in 1974 or 1975. I was working for an insurance company as a group health insurance rater, and later as a claims adjuster. When I first started there, we were using printing calculators and books of actuarial tables. The company brought in a "minicomputer" with a hard drive the size of a washing machine, and a floppy drive that took those big 8" floppies.

When the Commodore machine came out, I just had to have one. I took out a bank loan to buy it. I was interested in text adventure games; I'd seen Colossal Cave Adventure running on the mini, and I got a version of it running on the Commodore.

I wrote a couple of short sample text games myself, and I learned machine language coding. I've been messing with computers ever since.

Hey, ya know how to spot an intellectually challenged computer geek? He uses Lotus 12... :)

I would think that Lotus will still run just fine, on Windows 10, in DOSBox. :)

I'd try it (I still have copies of all that old software), but I'd have to dig up a 5.25" Floppy Drive and find a way of connecting it.

Lotus published a really good word processor called Ami Pro. Better, in my opinion, than Microsoft Word or Wordperfect.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain I used that back when. Lotus had the only word processor we used at any rate. I don't recall what other functions it had (or may have had), but Q&A was essentially a database that we used for record storage.

I liked Ami Pro. We used it at one place I worked. But I fell into windows instead of lotus, so it was WordPerfect for me. Still is - I've never liked Word. My seriously antique WP 9 is still working just wordperfectly on win10.

I use LibreOffice, which is basically just an open-source fork of Oracle's Open Office. It has the advantage of being completely cross-platform and free (both in cost and in ownership.) I like open-source, and will choose it over any proprietary software, as long as it works.

I used to use (in the last five years or so) Open Office, and I was extremely happy with it. It seems to have become defunct though... All I really wanted it for though was the database.

Well, that was nice. It occurred to me that I hadn't gone looking for Open Office for a while, and I found that it is now Apache Open Office, so I downloaded it...

Lothran has now left Anvil and is currently messing about in the area NW of Kvatch. Beautiful area, I think.

He has spent a night in his tent at Last Chance Camp and will continue wandering through the Imperial Reserve on his way to Skingrad.

Cyrodiil's forests are beautiful!
So they are :)

-----------------

After visiting Skingrad again, Lothran went north to the Colovian Highlands and he's currently back in Chorrol in search for ingredients and for the nice surroundings.

He made sure to stop by Pillaged Mine to practice some population control on the local goblins. A combination of heavy attack spells, arrows and Spriggan took care of them nicely

I can't get used to the idea of a Spriggan as a helpful companion.

Lothran is currently roaming the Heartlands and more specifically just south of the Imperial City. He's having some fun antagonizing the local riff-raff in his usual way. The sky is overcast and I have to say, it's something very soothing and inspirational about that kind of weather :)

Give 'em hell! It's so nice of those bandits to move back in for Lothran to punish again and again.

Yeah, he never run out if things to hunt :D

------------------------

Lothran just raided Fort Magia, first time in ten years! I don't know how we've not done this one before! :O

Anyway, haven't missed much, it was a very mediocre dungeon crawl. Some undead that are now fully dead, some minor loot, some slaughterfish, hey-ho..

Lothran is currently roaming the Imperial City, taking care of business.

As I'm soon off to live in the woods for the summer I shan't be doing much gaming so I'm basically about to give Lothran some time off and what better place than in the capital city? It's a good location since when I do game I plan to take Lothran to Bravil and the Nibenay area :)
