I would say 'uh oh'...but Tier reacted too quickly, LOL. Poor Var, he'll learn, I hope!
But that Bal, she shouldn't underestimate him, it, whatever!! Waiting for the next to see the plans! (and chewing my nails again!)

Great Sis!!!

Thanks Kane and Sis! I was actually a bit taken aback at the direction that went.... As a result, I'm not real sure where we're going next!

55 - ....but first I need to apologize to Var.

Though not until after stomping off to the inn for a bathe, and going back to the Hall to wash a few clothes.... not having my home available yet was seriously stressing me, in any number of ways. It was in process of cleanup, but - well, it would be some time before I wanted to move back, especially with these later developments.

Once I’d done my little delay, I had to own up to not wanting to discuss my loss of composure with anyone - especially Var. However.... I couldn’t deny I owed that apology, and I wanted to make it, and get beyond it.

So I wandered around Morthal, and finally found him looking over the horses we bred that were so unlike the Skyrim norm - and his own. He turned to me when I walked up to him, smiling only a little.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that - for so many reasons. First of course being that you’re the ruler by Moot, and that’s just a totally stupid thing I did. I hope you can forgive me, though of course you’re unlikely to forget.”

“Tier. I understand exactly why you hit me. Pretty good swing in fact, but you need to jab more than roundhouse. We’ll spar sometime so you can see what I mean.

“And yes, I forgive you. But no - I won’t forget.” As he looked at me, I felt my eyes fill with tears - I who almost never cried.... “I won’t forget - because you are absolutely right. Even were we married, I shouldn’t have treated you like a child.” He pulled me against him, under his arm the way g’da held g’ma, kissing the top of my head. “Friends? Lovers? Put me out of my misery woman!”

It was some minutes before I could be coherent. Finally I wiped my eyes on my sleeve, sniffled the drips back up my nose, and sighed.

“Well, I owe you a penance anyway. That was a damn fool thing to do....”

“Not necessarily. We don’t know each other well - and as a way to get my attention on that issue - it was definitely effective. Unfortunately, we don’t have time to redress that problem - since we have to figure out a way to get rid of Bal without anyone else being torn to pieces.

“Now to completely change the subject: I’d really like one of your horses - one up to my weight, and that can keep up with your gelding at more than a long-walk. Should I talk to whoever handles the breeding? Or do you or one of your brothers manage the stud-book?”

I sent him a glance, a bit teary again. This had to stop - I couldn’t be faffing about with tears every time we had a fuss. “I - well, Melki handles the actual breeding, and Bor and I run the stud-book. I....” I knew I’d gone pale, and swallowed hard. “I was - going to gift you Lightshadow as an early wedding gift....”

Aww...*sniffle* making up is good, even if uncomfortable at first, and they're both doing a good job of it! They gotta get on the same page, before they can move on and take care of the trouble. It warms the heart...and no doubt, in the near future, will fire the blood. :)

Love it Sis.

For some reason this quote from "Taming of the Shrew" entered my head, though not completely appropriate.... “My tongue will tell the anger of my heart, or else my heart concealing it will break.” ..

They are learning each other!

Thanks! Falling for each other in the middle of a huge mess just means getting to really know each other takes odd turns while being wormed around the mess....

Actually, that line's pretty apt altogether.... Shrew's one of my all time fav plays; since I sang in the choir in HS, and since it was one of Mrs. D's fav plays as well, we performed "Kiss Me Kate" one year. That was fun!

Oh, I love all the comedies. I'm so not into the history plays, and of the dramas really only Macbeth appealed. And since the last Macbeth (with Patrick Page as Macbeth) was the single best play I've EVER seen, I may never see it again....

Well, we did go with friends a few years back - they'd never seen Macbeth.... It was a very poor second. That's when I rather decided not to see it again myself.

56 - Now.... off to lure out the ghoul.

Var took up a bit of time first, to kiss me senseless and then meet Lightshadow - who was a very nicely-conformed stud and well up to Var’s weight. And I laughed inside a bit as two handsome specimens of maleness got to know each other. Not without a few bumps and bruises - and a black glance from Var at one point: “I thought you loved me? Maybe you could discuss that with the horse?” Which meant I had to turn away so he couldn’t see me grinning.... I’m fairly sure he knew anyway though!

Now here we are, heading for Solstheim on this complete tub of a ship - I mean, it’s.... antique.... among other things. And the captain was anything but happy about having horses aboard. I promised we’d - clean up - after them, and paid him a lot more than it was worth so he’d agree.

We were starting to see icebergs coming way too close to the ship. I asked the captain, Gjalund Salt-Sage, if this could be a problem.

He looked me over, stink-eyed. “Well, aye, missy. Of course it can be a problem. If one of them rams us, we’ll all be in the drink. And then dead of cold and drowning.”

“Ah. Don’t you swim?”

Again with the stink-eye. “No. I don’t do anything with water - not even the unsalty version.”

Oy. Here’s a sea-captain.... who can’t swim if his ship sinks.... I hunted up Var who was trying to keep Lightshadow from sinking the ship beforetime.

“Can you swim?”

“Of course. Why?”

“Because Master Salt-Sage cannot. And probably those gormless fools he calls ‘crew’ can’t either. And if one of those ice-mountains hits us....”

He seemed thoughtful a moment. “Well.... if we get hit, and we’re still alive after.... grab a horse’s mane, and hope.”

I bit my tongue trying really hard not to be - nasty.

We were either very lucky, or very good. We disembarked in Raven Rock, no worse the wear.

Oh, and btw - The Tempest ranks right up there with the best of Shrew, Midsummer's Night, and Macbeth.... Except for Macbeth (as noted previously) we see each of the others whenever they're performed.

I think the single most interesting Shrew was the one set in mid-WWII. It was - truly memorable. And very VERY well done.

Yeah, but you always stand a chance if you hit the water..BUT you have to be able to swim. You can't swim to a life-boat or float-some IF you can't... swim.

All too true. Now, to quote Paul Stookey (of Peter Paul and Mary):

Quote:

You know what swimming is to me?
Staying alive when I'm in the water.
Barely
I can actually swim better than Paul could.... but I don't enjoy it. Floating though.... yeah. I float really well. Husband doesn't - and doesn't get that it's the percentage of body fat that makes the difference....

*cackling* Sailors who can't swim?! That tickles me for some reason, maybe the memory of my ex tossing one of his fellow squids (Navy) into the lake when he found out the guy couldn't swim, LOL
Love Var and his new four legged companion, but I always thought that getting horses not only on a ship like that, but keeping them calm, has to be a major miracle!
Nice update Sis! :D Love it!

I'm a water baby, I can nap while floating, and swim like a fish... *grin* And a Pisces to boot.

Heh. Water signs should all have that ability, ain't? Funny thing - I'm a Sagittarius, so fire.... but I do manage the floating bit very well. As I said I don't swim....

Thanks Sis!
