Thanks Sis, I love that. And, lore is what we, as the tellers of the tales, make of it, or don't. At that point, all I care about is if I like the tale, and I've always liked yours. :)

117 - Thinking about dragons....

Mostly, how I’m going to change the way this shrine will portray Talos Stormcrown, who I think didn’t start out to be a dragon-slayer. And in fact... I wonder if the dragon at his feet in the statues, with the sword ready to pierce it to kill, may not be an allegorical depiction of the whole Alduin situation, Dragon Break, Time-Wound, and so on. Makes more sense to me than anything - because I’ve never read one thing (and yes, I read anything I can get my hands on) that ever says one word about him killing dragons.

Now the Blades.... yes. They began as dragon slayers. And then after Tiber Septim’s acceptance of Alessia’s Pact with Akatosh.... now see, that makes sense - which Talos/Tiber Septim going out killing dragons just doesn’t.

But how would it be to have Akatosh himself, wings spread, perched on the back of that word wall? Oh, I like that idea!

Now to make it happen. That means I need to find a sculptor.

Thanks sis! Oh, if I could paint.... but I can't. So we'll all just have to see it in our minds' eyes.

118 - Need to consult with g’ma

about where I should start looking for a sculptor. I mean, no one in my family has ever as far as I know hired artists of any sort - even bards for obvious reasons! - so it’s not something I know anything about.

G’ma was in the kitchen with Edilla and Lendia, chatting as they all sliced vegetables. That was good, because I hadn’t yet told Edilla what was going on.

“Edilla, by the end of the third month from now, your house should be finished; I will take you to Solstheim on the Silent Mistress, introduce you to those who hold Raven Rock for House Redoran, and then take you out to your home.”

Her face lit up like the sun had just come out on a gloomy day. “Thank you, oh, thank you Tiercel! I will have to decide what to take with me, what to leave....”

“Nah then. Take anything you like, plenty of room!

“G’ma.... I need to find a good sculptor. I don’t know how to go about that....”

She grinned at me. “Tier, sometimes I wonder about your mind. Go ask Var, for pity’s sake!”

Oh. Um. Oy. Sometimes I AM clueless! I blushed, kissed g’ma on the cheek, muttered “Thanks” and headed for the house Var was building us.

He was leaning on a pile of logs and boards, chatting with a man I assumed must be the builder. I waited to one side until they finished the conversation, then walked up to lay my hand on his arm. The flush returned as he turned his eyes to mine, and I could see the love in them for me. My own eyes glowed with my love for him, but we didn’t kiss - the builder was standing by, with an amused look on his face.

“Walk with me love? I need to ask you something.”

He grinned. “Of course. Let’s go talk to the horses, shall we?”

We headed for the stables. Once there, he glanced at me and said, “So then, what do you need?”

“Besides you? Well.... here’s the deal. I know where I’m putting Talos’s shrine. And I know what I need to begin with: a rather large sculpture of Akatosh.”

His brows flew toward his hairline. “Where is this going then?”

“The shrine will be centered in the area in front of the word wall at the very top of the Throat of the World - Paarthurnax’s Aerie. And Akatosh will perch, wings extended fully, as if just ready to fly, on the top of the word wall. You do remember g’ma’s tale don’t you?”

“Oh aye. That - sounds perfect, my love! Now - as to a sculptor. I know my father had his bust done - and forced the steward to pay for it even though da said it wasn’t done well. However, it was him to the life - but he didn’t like to admit how ineffectual his expression made him look! I’ll have to dig through records in Solitude, as I don’t remember the man’s name. And of course, he might not be alive now - he didn’t seem young at the time, though I was only about ten so that might have had something to do with thinking him ancient. So, let me have a day or two to research?”

“Of course. It’s not a rush - I.... think.... Talos knows that it will happen, and isn’t in a hurry. I want it to be right. And.... different from all the others.”

I went on to tell Var how I thought about Talos not being a dragon slayer no matter the dragon around his feet which it appeared he was ready to kill. And that perhaps somehow Talos had got mixed up in the Blades background over the eras.

“You could be right. I haven’t ever read anything about him killing dragons himself either. Well, I’m off for Solitude then, I’ll be back when I have something to tell!” And then he kissed me breathless.

119 - Hiatus for a wedding

While Var was trying to find me a sculptor, I took myself off to ma and g’ma. It was time to get wedded - and - bedded within that wedlock.... because I was pretty sure I was pregnant.

“Ma, g’ma. We need to get this wedding done. Very soon.”

Ma just looked confused. G’ma sent me a sharp glance. “Like that, is it? Well, then, did you find a dress?”

“Aye. It’s - not exactly - de rigueur.... But I like it, and I think Var will too. I’m not a virgin - eh, that goes without saying at this point! - so.... it’s the green of spring, with an underdress of lavender. And if we hurry this along, it will actually still fit me....”

Ma narrowed her eyes, then - blushed? What on Nirn?

“Well, my girl.... I was pregnant with you when your da and I married.”

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. And then I slanted a look at g’ma, who actually.... snickered.

“Sweet, there are things in every family, every marriage, that never get told. So. We’re lucky Edilla’s still here, and has Lendia to help. And we’re also lucky you’ll be off somewhere else when the birthing happens too soon!”

Therefore, on a day bright with sun and promise, I wore my lovely dress and a wreath of flowers in my hair, and gave Var my hand - and my heart and soul. The house wasn’t anywhere close to finished, so we just headed for the Silent Mistress.

And there we spent our wedding night - and the bedding was.... beyond description.

What - No Shivaree? Dang I just KNEW they'd blow it if I wasn't invited! ;)

Fond memories of abducting the groom, short-sheeting the bed, and of course, Novocaine in the Vaseline...
