Thorny... just do it... and if your character commits suicide early, you know it wasn't mean to be...

<sigh> like I said it's the skill that makes the most sense, so I'll stick to it. We actually had a harder time getting TO Bilegulch than we did getting through it. Some decent poisons, two paralyze potions and a dozen wack's with a steel 2x4 and he was dead. The troop of Reilkings.. fighting each other and 3 bandit Chiefs (who won). they then came after A'Riya..

We still need to get a Start date... and points... C.W. Quest's, To be a Thane Quest's or just points for getting to be Thane... and Suggestion about doing bounty quest's also.. cause otherwise we can all potentially have the exact same score.

Hrm, how's about 100 per bounty? Lemme think on the Thane quests, but I believe they entail:

The Rift
Help Wujeeta
The Raid
Supply and Demand
Assist People of the Hold (3)

Eastmarch
Blood on the Ice
Assist People of the Hold (5)
Battle for Windhelm [Imp.]

Winterhold
Find the Helm of Winterhold
Assist People of the Hold (3)
Rescue from Fort Kastav (Imp.)

The Pale
Waking Nightmare
Kill the Giant
Assist People of the Hold (3)
The Battle for Fort Dunstad (Imp.)

Whiterun
Dragon Rising
Battle for Whiterun (SC)

Falkreath
Rare Gift
Kill the Bandit Leader
Assist People of the Hold (3)
Rescue from Fort Neugrad (SC)

The Reach
Find Hrolfdir's Shield
Assist People of the Hold (5)
The Battle for Fort Sungard (SC)

Hjaalmarch
Laid to Rest
Assist People of the Hold (3)
The Battle for Fort Snowhawk (SC)

Haafingar
The Man Who Cried Wolf
Wolf Queen Awakened
Elisif's Tribute
Assist People of the Hold (5)

One thing I hadn't thought of, is that it would actually be more beneficial to become Thane wherever possible, BEFORE you start the CW. Otherwise you miss out on quest points, since you usually just become Thane of a conquered hold simply by asking.

So

C.W. Quest's = 1000 pt's each
Thane Quests = 250 pts each
Being Thane = 500 pt bonus ( once you get House Carl? )
bounty = 100 pts each

That gives good points for "Being Thane and doing the C.W. quests.. and if you are in the middle of a Thane line you still get points.

Edit: I had kinda thought of that... so you get points for being Thane that way.. but it really behooves you to get it before hand...

Should we add points for owning properties?

hmmmm that's an ifffy one, Solitude is expensive... But I guess it could rack up some points.. say 250 per house? ( don't want it to be more important then quests) or it shouldn't be.

Edit: maybe 350 for Hjerim.. either way, cause it means doing Blood on the Ice... and probably early to make sure it doesn't bug out.

This is starting to turn into something that won't feasibly fit into 40 hours for me. :/

The C. W. On the wiki says 6 hrs... now that might b e a "run" through it... but dependant on play style a few of us won't finish every thing... I know I won't. .. but the faster on goes, the better chance of dying... turtle didn't always loose over rabbit...specially when fox is at the door.

Yeah and anything over adept takes a little prep time.

I might just drop the difficulty and play the "can Saki stay alive" game rather than play as normal.

Well we do have that 20 hr prep time, that isn't included in "play time"... we need to finalize all that so that everyone know's and can do what need's to be done.. but that got a yes.. I plan on playing Expert, but with no prep time.

Kane, over at Chorrol you said: "Speech, lockpicking, and sneak are usually given as freebies, since it's impossible to not raise those"

I get speech, but is it impossible not to raise sneak and lockpick?

As for participating: I've got a build in mind(no idea if it's any good, but that's half the point), but I'm gonna wait until I see some finalised rules before I decide.

hmm it's usually just Lock-picking and speech.. Sneak was only last round cause Thief... it made sense.. but I'll defer.

I can retract the sneak part, that was my error. I think the CW and Thane stuff is easily manageable in 40 hours, depending on difficulty. Honestly, for this one I might go with Novice, just because it may feature a story, too.

So why is lockpick a freebie? Is using it unavoidable, or is it as shit as it was in Oblivion and not worth actually considering a legitimate skill?

There's no other way of opening chests. No spells.

A lot of folks dislike leaving chests unopened, and you don't need to perk it at all to actually open anything if you're good.

I'm good as shit.

I think I'm going to just go with my normal sneak archer/1h dw type and drop it to adept or novice. Mostly because I don't want to dick around with it. Tired of restarting my test character already.

I don't think Lockpicking should be a freebie for a non-thief round. There's nothing behind a lock that's essential to the CW quest line, or (as far as I know) to the Thane quests. Quest items are never in locked chests. It's all just bonus (or player-compulsive lock opening. :) )

As to what's in the chests, how about coin, weapons, armor, salable items for players who have limited or no crafting to generate income?

As to that, if you want to play that way, why wouldn't you want to make that one of your skills?

It's not a thief round, and there's plenty of stuff not locked up.

The whole idea of limiting skills is to force players to make choices.
