I don't know how to tell you this, but with the limited number of skills we already have, I'm already forced to make uncomfortable choices. ...and at the same time, by the time I try to buy training, spells, and/or enchanted items, I don't have time to do the quests because I'm too busy trying to come up with 10 gold to cover my bed for the night...

True that... I've heard people talk about the vast wealth they accumulate in Skyrim... I don't believe I've ever had more than 20,000 gold in my inventory at once, even at level 35 or so.

Just a question... Currently my test character has the following skills perkable:
Block
Restoration
Light Armor
one-hand
Destruction (for a ranged attack)
Smithing (the only one that generates any income, except I don't have time to go prospecting all over Skyrim)

Playing on Master, which one do you think I should trade for lockpicking?

I'm not sure I understand that build, for Master or better. It's hard to play a hybrid mage/warrior with only one craft.

But, in your place, I'd swap Restoration for Enchanting (which could earn you some money.)

In which case, you wouldn't need to pick locks.

The build is supposed to be a sort of spellsword. I tried that build without Restoration (Enchanting was my first choice, actually)... but without Alchemy, I couldn't acquire enough healing potions to stay alive in a real melee. Then there is the notion that without conjuration, filled soul gems can be hard to come by as well. Not to mention expensive... so I was left with trying to afford both soul gems and healing potions... that I couldn't afford in any case.

I tell ya, this game love to mess with me. If I don't have conjuration, suddenly nobody has filled soul gems to sell. If I don't have enchanting, suddenly there are no enchanted items available anywhere, or they are so expensive I'd have to spend 40 hours chopping wood just to buy one... :)

I don't remember if anything quest is in a locked chest, I don't think so. But... my thought on it... sure no one needs to get in that locked chest... same as one really dosent need to sell or buy... but it would be damn hard to do any quest - line without speech.

We could vote on the two freebies...have or have not, one, both, neither... add them into your skill tree.. plus one or two skills. ..

If y'all want to have everyone vote on that, one of the Admin's should be able to add it or I can try at lunch. . Breaks over.... :)

One possibility would be to allow Six perked skills, plus Speech, plus a seventh, non-perkable skill, which could be Lockpicking or any other skill.

For instance, somebody might want to use Enchanting for that skill, just to be able to recharge enchanted weapons without penalty.

Now this is getting to be ridiculously complicated.

Nitpicking on skills...

Oye. Might pull out of this round at this rate, figuring out my build is already frustrating enough and having to come up with more lucrative ways to make gold for training I hate buying to begin with is going to annoy me more.

I think I'll stick to preset build games. Now I'm mad I missed the last one.

Ladies and Germ's... I think that with the last question I put on the poll we need to Shite or get off the pot... ie... wrap it up, it's a complicated enough round atm, that IMO we need to not add anything new, cause some people have been testing out their builds and would like to get started on their prep time.

I know my build...mods and all are heavily dependent on the "status Quo", but as one among many, I will go with the majority.

I'm not wishy-washy, I'm just wearing two hats... Game player... and Co-Hostess...So y'all have my opinion both ways....

Sorry if my posts contributed to that for you. I thought that Neil and I were having a light-hearted back-and-forth. And a few suggestions of things that might/might not work for all.

I'll shut up and leave it alone.

OK...some "executive" decisions... and what all the voting look's like as rules:

General rules for this round... all other DiD rules apply ( except the where to start ones)

* 20 hr prep-time
- 360 & PS3 allowed to get Thane of Whiterun and buy Breeze home
- Other platforms not allowed to do any Thane or C.W. quests
- must be Expert, Master or Legendary to use Prep Time
* May do an "Alternate Start"
- Inn Patron, Left for Dead..
- May not use Alternate Start with Prep Time
* 500 Bonus points for "Complete Vanilla Start"
- No bonus points when using Prep time

* will be using our Standard Multiplier this round
Legendary - 1.75
Master - 1.50
Expert - 1.25
Adept - 1
Apprentice - 0.75
Novice - 0.25

* You have 6 "perkable Skills" Based on Classic TES builds, plus Speech as a Freebie and a Freebie of your choice...
- freebies ARE NOT Perkable.. you may use them without incurring penalties.

Some have already Started their Prep time, but as we are a bit late in getting started... Official 40 hr's may start Feb 4th, but time will run through Feb 24th.

Points will be given for:
C.W. Quest's = 1000 pt's each
Thane Quests = 250 pts each
Being Thane = 500 pt bonus ( once you buy the house )
bounty = 100 pts each

Penalties for using non-build Skills..

* 5 point grace on non-drawn skills
-250 for each point that accrue's for the 1st 10 after that, then -500 accruing for each point their after.
(ex: Alteration if it starts at 20 for your character)
21= 0
25= 0
26= -250 points
27= -250 + -250 = -500 points
36= -500 points plus those accrued already
37= -500 + -500 plus accrued points

What Prep Time is.. it is the time when using higher difficulties that you set the characters skills.. ie mine, smith, enchant, gather all ingredients fight whatever.. But you may NOT do any Thane Quests, C.W. Quests or Bounty Quests... knowingly... ie we all know that selling veggies to a farmer "helps" them.. so don't do it... IF you happen to open a chest and it has a Named item in it.. don't pick it up.. ( I would however write down what you found and where... )

Remember their IS only a 5 point grace in leveling up non build skills.. so be careful which helpful quest's you do to be helpful..

I believe the first statement is referring solely to the prep time? Otherwise there's no way a console player can have a house before the end of prep time, a restriction not shared by PC gamers who can add modded houses.

Hmmm that may be it Thorny. We should probably put a clarifying statement like "during the prep time" after the first one in the list. Then the rest would make sense to me not that I have any I've given all my cents/septims to Grits. :teehee:

Well DUH I said to myself that was the 20 hour prep time section I just didn't realize the asterisk wasn't a dash! :bonk:
