Well, I wasn't really talking about the house starts, which do give you a head start. LAL has a start for each CW faction, that puts you in the first quest scene with Ulfric/Tullius, but just in street clothing, at level 1, and with minimum gold/gear. Likewise, you can be dropped into the Thalmor Embassy, a Forsworn lair, or any of the inns, with minimum equipment. I don't see how these starts give you any real advantage, since you actually have less wealth and skill experience than you'd have if you, for instance, went through Helgen, sold everything in Riverwood, and took the carriage from Whiterun to Windhelm/Solitude. With LAL, I usually use the "Left for Dead" option, which is hardly an advantage. :) |

The "Left for Dead" start?.. yeah...twice on Solstiem. ..never made it to Raven Rock the 1st time...2nd got lucky, plus followed the coast and swam most of the way..getting the gold up for the boat ride was....fun. "Erik the Slayers best Friend"...D.D.... 3 tries to get to Whiterun. ... crispy fried... 3rd time Thalmor patrol helped and an imperial patrol bought it... but provided a bow and arrows.... Edit: true...and that's the kinda thing I meant when I said hash it out....xxx is the starts one can use ...or vsnilla. Fun stuff! Yeah...DiD ... Wasn't a long start over, but still! I've been dropped by the werewolves on solstheim, near the dwarven ruins with the cubes on solstheim and on an island off the west coast of solstheim....and in half a dozen spots around skyrim, but it seems to really like that 1st solstheim one for some reason |

Makes for quite the desperate scramble to civilisation....though if you manage it right, you can set a werebear loose among a group of reavers then pick off the winner afterwards for much loot. Werebears are much easier with a flames spell once their transformation runs out...if the reavers win then at least one will have died and left you some armour/weapons to start out with. Just pray that you don't run foul of the burnt spriggans or a random bristleback/ash spawn. They hurt muchly. |

Either way is fine with me... :D I'm not wishy-washy... when someone suggest's something, I try and find good and bad points and run with it.. til the majority comes to a consensus ... I like both idea's... cause it would be nice to start as a "raw" recruit...but as not everyone has the ability to.. I can see what it's not the greatest idea either... |

Depends on which start... but same as vanilla really... start the MQ by getting the Dragonstone or running to whiterun and having the chat with the Jarl ...just don't have to sit through the cart scene and run through Helgen. Edit: that's with Alternate Start LaL.. I've never used Skyrim Unbound, but other than vanilla, probably the same. Edited by Areial, Jan 20 2017, 06:17 PM.

We had a lot of trouble initiating the MQ with SU....even tinkering with its settings....HH just stayed locked when we got there. Even got a dragon soul and a shout...but no go! I am not saying it can't be done....I just couldn't get it to start. |

I think that must be something to do with console Rick. I can start with dragons disabled, no dragonborn, disabled non-dragonborn shouts, and go into MCM (Skyrim1) or the menu options you get using Z (Skyrim2), reset to enabled dragons and normal dragonborn, go do BFB; walk out the back door and have a dragon immediately show up. Kill it, the "Do - vah - kiin!" rumble happens from the Greybeards, and I go right on up there, do that little tutorial section, get sent to Ustengrav, and start the MQ from there.

With LAL, you can start the MQ several ways: 1. "Crossing the Border Illegally" puts you in the cart. 2. "Camping in the woods" puts you just outside Helgen, and the dragon flies over, starting the MQ. 3. Start the Civil War (either side.) 4. With any other start, just go to Helgen, and the dragon attack is occurring as you arrive. |
