Lol, somebody should make a door number 3 mod.

>Go with Hadvar
>>Go with Ralof
>>>Run screaming out of the eastern gate like a maniac.
Started a new character yesterday just to mess around and have fun and I really wanted that third option!

hmmm see I like to start as "owner of property" or "customer at Inn"... add in the mods "you are not Dragonborn, Deadly Dragons and Timing is everything.. and I can trigger dragon's and don't have to do the whole.. "I'm the dragonborn" thing.... Which mean's they are there and attack, but no "soul absorbing" .

I like soul absorbing.

I'm also impartial to the whole dragonborn thing. It doesn't bother me. I know it bugs some of you but it doesn't bug me in the slightest.

Naaa, doesn't bother me, just that IF my character isn't The Dragonborn.. no reason they should be absorbing a dragons soul when it dies... and of course I don't always do the MQ. I prefer not to do any of the MQ if the character isn't Dragonborn, keep's that story errrr fresh so to speak.

Same here. Lately, I've mostly left the MQ for our competitions. When I first started playing Skyrim, all of my characters went through at least Dragon Rising, and unlocked Shouts. Now most of my characters do (at most) one or two faction quest lines, and live their own life stories in the process.

As for me, I love some of the shouts (Become Ethereal, Ice Form to name my two favorites), so not being Dragonborn is really not an option. Besides, dragons are waay cool! When I fihgt dragons, I always tell them George sent me... ;)

Can we have some uhhh... duhhhh... dragons George? I will pet them, and squeeze them, and hug them! CAN we? Can we have dragons George, huh?

Moving on:
A while back I tried out the Knight version for Round V, and I was really not impressed with it. The character could be tough, but if you actually role played the knight, his survival chances were slim indeed. So, now I've tried out the Ranger/Scout...

The character has good survival chances, is tough and capable in most circumstances, but is not really great in mass combat situations. Not bad, just not great. Here's what my experience looked like:

Assault on Fort Dunham

The main factors in play (IMO) was the lack of smithing and/or enchanting. Potions are great... as long as you are alive to use them and not caught in a kill cam episode.

I always forget I have crafting.

Then again I think I'll do competitions on Adept because I have a difficulty adjust mod on(Customizable Difficulty - True Difficulty).

Do we have a list of the classes? Or do I have to go back through the other pages still.

Light armor... ( Oblivion classes)

Barbarian: Armorer ( smith )Athletics, Blade, Block, Blunt, Hand-to-Hand, Light Armor

Rogue: Alchemy, Athletics, Blade, Block, Illusion, Light Armor, Mercantile ( speech?)

Archer: Armorer, Blade, Blunt, Hand-to-Hand, Light Armor, Marksman,Sneak

Monk: Security, Sneak, Acrobatics, Marksman, Alteration, Hand-to-Hand, Athletics

Nightblade: Acrobatics, Alteration, Athletics, Blade, Destruction, Light Armor, Restoration

Spellsword: Major: Block, Restoration, Long Blade, Destruction, Alteration
Minor skills: Blunt Weapon, Enchant, Alchemy, Medium Armor, Axe

I think the biggest problem with some of the builds is that they don't have craft's in them, because you could buy those thing's that you needed in Oblivion.. need armor tempered.. smith does it for you...enchant and item... scrolls, staff's...etc.

Light armor, sneak, archery, pickpocket, lockpicking, and illusion makes a perfect thief build.

Since you're talking about block, i just had an idea of a "Vanguard" class:
One-handed
Block
Heavy Armor
Alteration - defensive buffs
Illusion - for courage - defensive buffs for allies and frenzy - taunt (this is the closest i could find to those abilities)

Possible "Sorcerer/Conjurer" class:

Conjuration, Armor (either), 1 Hand, Archery, Enchanting

Uses both bound weapons and summoned help; no physical weapons.

*snip*

a character could approach it as a peacemaker (even though we, behind the :joe: , know there will be no peace without some red stuff flying around). They'd have to adapt to the inevitable, but that wouldn't necessarily mean they'd have to do the bonking-on-the-head when they could just get someone else to do it. :evil:

Illusion, Old Rusty Sword (for those oh crap moments), shield, light armor, enchant/smith as an example.

*snip*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Example: Warrior (no magic)
1. Heavy Armor
2. 2-hand
3. Block
4. Archery
5. Smithing
6. Enchanting
(speech)
(lock picking)
Example: Shield Mage
1. Illusion
2. Destruction
3. Block
4. Light Amor
5. Smithing
6. Enchanting
(speech)
(lock picking)
I may or may not be actively avoiding doing the job hunting i'm supposed to be doing...
Got a job all lined up, just don't have a start date yet (will be some time around Easter) but in the meantime I need money so I have to play nice with the job centre....trouble is they want me to apply for jobs that will pay worse knowing full well I'll just be walking out again in 2/3 months time :(
But while i'm doing that it leaves plenty of time to babysit for a friend and break my skyrim...repeatedly...
Thanks Poncho for consolidating all those posts! :)
Wasn't sure where the discussions left off, are we going to have each person present their own build 6 skills, lockpicking & speech as freebies. Or are we going off a pick list from those posted? I was leaning toward build your own to give everyone flexibility in their style and provide us with a future list. What is everyone else's take?
:tes:
I would much rather we pick our own style and give it a name ( our name anyway)
Reason, because what worked in other games may not be viable in Skyrim... You need a minimum of one craft.. two at higher difficulties... but they also need to make sense for that "build".
6 skill's max...with speech and Lockpicking freeies... *sneak was free only cause..thief and it made sense.*.. That should cover just about any kind of build... except something that end's up over-powered.
Unless that is, we are simply "doing our own build"... which I still think should be limited in some way...jmo
Since several skills were dropped between games:
Skyrim Monk: Archery, Sneak, Alteration, Illusion, Alchemy, Restoration. (Skyrim lacks a viable Hand-to-hand skill, which means no melee skill.)
Oddly, Skyrim DOES have a viable hand to hand skill, it's just that it's invisible and can't actually be perked normally.
It's best for Khajiit chars , but If you get the gloves of the Pugilist, then disenchant them. Then if you take Heavy Armor and get the Fists of Steel perk, you can smith High level (Daedric or somesuch) gauntlets to a very high level, enchant them with a high level "fortify hand to hand" boost, and really get respectable damage out of punching someone in the head.
Here's what I plan on playing. (Subject to change based on my test run that I'm starting.) ;)
Dual-Wielding Spellsword
1. One-handed
2. Light Armor
3. Alteration
4. Destruction
5. Enchanting
6. Smithing
(Lock picking)
(Speechcraft)
Difficulty: Master because I just don't get any kind of thrill out of the grinding needed for Legendary.
A breton with blades, but no axes to grind. Winds up deciding to put an end to this ridiculous war so he can get back to the systematic annihilation of the Aldmeri Dominion and their Thalmor agents!
I was just working up one that is very similar:
Block
Restoration
Alteration
One-Hand
Destruction
Enchant
(speech)
(Lockpick)
I'm having an issue deciding between Imperial and Altmer, but I think Imperial is going to win out because I've played Altmer too often.
