So...Anyone have any ideas why NMM stopped...

grabbing esp files? Only for SSE, no matter how I download, they don't work, and SSEEdit says the plugin has a 'non-existing' esp file. Can't download anything that works.
It had me crazy all day yesterday, and hasn't changed. Verified the game files, tried various older versions of NMM, extracting and manually inserting, and nada.
I'm at a total loss, don't know why this weirdness struck from out of the blue...

No idea, I don't use NMM with SSE. Did you check to see if anyone else has the issue and has posted on Nexus? You didn't update it recently, did you?

I'd kind of think you might have to wipe it and SSE off your machine, reinstall SSE, don't install NMM, and just do manual stuff. If you have to do that, don't forget to dig all of the relative stuff out of the AppData folder.

Couldn't find anything like it on Nexus, so I posted. No replies. I'm upset that even though they won't be releasing a new manager until 'sometime 2017', they've stopped all support for NMM except bug fixes. I'm this close to emailing Robin.
I basically can't download any more mods for SSE, period. Nothing works. Thankfully, I don't get any ugly error messages from TESVEdit for Skyrim LE.

See my edit to my post.... I'm not sure emailing Robin would help - well, it would get it off your chest, for sure. Just not sure he's got much control over all that now that Tannin's on board.

It's not an SSE problem though, it's got to be NMM. The game is fine with what I already have. And I'm not comfortable at all loading a lot of mods manually with no manager.

So your game is still working, but you can't add any more mods? What about texture mods without .esps? I load SSE mods manually (60 currently), let SSE do it's "load order" thing, and then exit the game, run LOOT, apply and start the game then check against LOOT's order, and if anything's not where it belongs, I manually move it in SSE so it matches LOOT.

Now.... I'm not running the latest SSE though.... It updated the first time, and I've never let it do so again. So LOOT is working fine with the version I'm running - and it seems that those with more up to date SSE versions do have issues with LOOT and sorting....

I really wouldn't trust the later versions of NMM - I'm not sure who's doing the updates, and - well, the one later version I tried totally bollixed my mods, so I had to redo the whole installation. I am still using 0.61.23 for Oldrim. As long as I don't have power outages with NMM open, everything's fine....

So how many mods do you have in SSE? And how many actual files in the SSE folder? You're on win7, right? Maybe there's a folder limit somehow?

No folder limit with Win7. The first couple versions of NMM that would handle SSE wouldn't work anymore, I kept getting error messages, but I tried 3 other versions and had the same issues. I have 75 active mods, but of course some are textures., and 96 total. Some of them are older versions that I kept in case of issues with newer versions. I really haven't downloaded or activated anything for a while, but then a Falkreath overhaul came out that I wanted...and I found problems. So, who knows when this actually started, it could have been up to a couple of weeks ago. SSEEdit finally looked stable enough that I got it yesterday trying to figure out what was going on. So now I know, but haven't a clue how to fix it.

255 mod limit iirc, then you have to start merging mods. Don't believe this applies to just textures/meshes mods that don't have a .esp.

Andra it almost sounds like NMM has lost track of the directory for SSE. That can happen for any number of reasons. I think Sere's suggestion might be the best solution for SSE, but dang that would be a bugger download if you don't have a zip file post install.

Maybe you'll get a better answer from Nexus this week.

:hugs:

Huh. Sis, did you check to see if your folders show up right in that section of NMM setup? Why that might have got whacked I don't know.... but can't hurt to verify?

That's what it sounds like alright, Bram.

Sere, I have no idea how to tell if they are in the right setup. It looks as if they are all there, but as for order, or if that makes a difference, I don't know.

If I don't come up with anything else in a couple weeks, I may lose what I have by re-installing SSE and the mods to see if that works, but I don't know if that will do any good. It will tick me off, because I finally got the 2 characters tweaked the way I want them. But I'll deal with it if I have to.

I don't know if it's relevant, but I tried to download and install "Khajiit Speak SSE" yesterday, and I can't make it work. No esp is showing up, but I'm not certain it has one in any case...

Yes, KhajiitSpeak has .esps.... So that's interesting. There's the main mod .esp, and a whole flock of patches for other mods.

I can upload it to a domain of my own for you to grab if you like. This is beginning to sound like there's a problem at Nexus. I'ma go see if I can get something that's not too large (since Cynn's latest SSE house was over half a gig.... *sigh*)

I just grabbed Arth's ESO Skyshards mod - it downloaded and extracted just fine for me. That's manual download and manual extraction though - and manual copy to SSE/data.

Neil, you might go find Andra's post on Nexus and note your issue is similar. And let me know if you want me to upload KhajiitSpeak and link it.

I didn't have any of the mods that the patches were for, so I wouldn't have seen them anyway, I suppose.

You should have, because it's all there together, and if you're using NMM, you'd have got the fomod which would have showed them all.

And which versions of NMM are you guys using?

0.61.8

I think I may have found my problem though... I thought I had the Unofficial Patch installed, and it turned out I didn't... Don't know why that would hide the esp, but we'll find out if it makes a difference in a minute.

EDIT: That was the problem. I installed the Unofficial Patch, and the esp showed up...

Okay, I went and read your post. What you posted there HAS happened to me in 0.61.23 - a while back now, probably 6 months ago or so. And it was just out of the blue - wasn't even a power failure issue. What I did: Uninstalled NMM, reinstalled it on a different drive, and re-added all my mods. Of course there was no way to retrieve my profiles, so I just had to restart everyone.

That's the single biggest issue with NMM, and always has been - there's no way to force it to rescan for existing profiles. As a technology brain-fart, that one's a killer.

That's.... weird. If you never had USSEP before, why on earth would that all of a sudden be the issue? Unless the mod itself states that USSEP is required (and it might, I don't remember - I don't pay attention because I always have the unofficial patches....)

Yeah, it does say the patch is required. My problem was that I believed I had the patch installed previously. I still haven't checked to see if the mod is working, in-game, but that's next on the list.

This one has discovered that the mod now works as advertised. Perhaps Andra also needs the patch, yes?
