Do they normally have more hotkeys than a PC? |

I see your point about the convenience, Neil, but I still don't see it as an advantage, at least in the way that "When Dragons Attack" is an advantage. Grouping is a convenience. It provides no actual advantage to the player that a pausing inventory and careful play-style don't offer. It's like the 4 hotkeys on the controller vs the 8 on a keyboard; the extra hotkeys are useful, but they don't, in themselves, create an unfair advantage, because there's an alternative method that allows the same function. There are a lot of mods that could be argued as providing a slight advantage. I have a mod called Enhanced Camera. Basically all it does is give you a visible body if you're in first person. (I often use first person for targeting.) The advantage, if you're climbing around on a cliff-edge, is that you can see your feet. It really helps for first-person orientation. But is it a gameplay advantage, worthy of a "-"? I don't think so. Edited by glargg, Jan 28 2017, 12:37 AM.

The difference in our view (I believe) is simply that I don't see it as just a mere convenience... If I forget to swap out some piece of gear, and the lack happens to get me killed it's a game-ender. On the other hand, If I use grouping, and am saved where I would have been killed off, it's an advantage over the "me" who has to remember this or that. When we first started discussing advantage or disadvantage, Areial was talking about even her map being an advantage... |

In that case, Enhanced Camera is also an advantage, because it allows me to stand right on a cliff-edge, and look down at where my feet are, and thus I can be assured of a safe stance as I avoid that buggy collision effect where arrows "hit" an edge that you're clearly aiming over. The problem is quantifying how much of an advantage any of this is. Clearly an extra enchantment slot, or a mod-buffed weapon, provide a serious advantage. So does a head-start house with full crafting stations. We could end up in a nightmare of fractional +/- mathematics if we wanted to. :) |

In skyrim, I can only get two playable hot keys out if my controller. Thry are activated from the D pad (the cross shaped Directional pad in old parlance). Pressing up or down brings up a favourites list...a mini inventory of chosen items which you still have to scroll through and select to use. Pressing left or right can be configured to change spells or weapons...so if I press left, she equips her bow if I press right she equips her melee weapon plus sheild. The left or right choice are are your two hot keys. Now before someone says it...yes it can work to bring up pre selected spells too...but when I tried it I find it gets confused between weapons and magic and you end up with the spells being unequipped. Oblivion had eight hot keys..that was a bad move dropping that from Skyrim. |

Yeah... we could.. I don't really see the extra hot-key's as that much of an advantage... then again I don't use the hot-keys much.. The Map, hot-key's etc.. those are thing's that might provide a slight advantage, but not really enough to worry over.. I said the Map was an advantage because it is "clearer" ...but how much of an advantage is it really...cause I rarely if ever look at it.. :-/ seriously, I have the road's and terrain memorized by now.. I don't look at the map for "vanilla" dungeon's .. just mod'ed ones that I may never have been to.. so advantage...what? Now,... take Terra Armors ( Lady Horus's version).. I left it in ( accidently) on my 1st test with A'Riya.. and I looked at some of the armors verses vanilla.. with Immersive Jewelry ( cause .. I wanted to see..) The only armor she could make ( taking the 6 iron ingots 1 copper and some leather * wolfs*.. 27 AR..same as Banded Iron.. but the Banded Iron took less ingredients.. at 30 AR... Had to buy iron to make the boot's and gauntlet's for the Terra armor.. Advantage? ( I removed Terra Armors from the latest test's..cause I really only like one armor) It IS a complicated thing... Does Immersive HUD rate a ( - ) on the same level as Inconsequential NPC's ? Does it equal Deadly Dragon's? I think it's worth it... Immersive HUD -1, A Quality World Map -1, Inconsequential NPC's -3, Deadly Dragons +3, Immersive Creatures +3, OBIS +3, Northern Encounters +2 ... these may not be 100% accurate.. but I think you can see what I am getting at? Sure for these 1st couple of rounds where we get it all strait and figure it out.. it's more or less... trying to keep the +'s higher than the -'s... I would look at these are more "fun competitions" than completely dead serious competitions. but then .. it's how I view them all... |

I watched part of the videos, but I'm afraid I just don't have all that much time... and I know some of the others don't have the bandwidth to watch a video over an hour long, so... What is it you wanted us to see? It looked cool and all that, and impressive, but I didn't see a point that references this conversation. :) |

I don't consider SkyUI an advantage, and I never used the groups. Hard to group gear I don't carry. Unlike you, while you forget to use it unless you can hit a single key, I even forget that single key. |

I see him switching a lot of spells around but the amount of switching that I and my damn near blind ass can see, is what I can do with hotkeys. Just.. normal hotkeys out of the favorites menu. |

Every time i switch to a new school of magic, i also change the robes, circlet, ring and pendant. You don't see the change because all Master Robes of Destruction/Conjuration/Alteration/Restoration/Illusion look the same, but you can hear that she changes the outfit. This wouldn't be possible without SkyUI group hotkeys. @neildarkstar: That's why i linked from the moment the battle started, so you don't have to watch the whole video. I can't watch... way to long for the Data I have... but SkyUi might be a # case by case.. and in this case.. individual not round. As we work on the Honor system, if you think it's an advantage mod in the way that you use it.. you add a - to it.... cause it is... if you are unsure you can always ask... For me it's not an advantage in that way.. I pretty much don't use the hot-keys, cause I forget about them... same with shouts... I forget to switch to them.. and playing the lute in battle would be a bad thing.. which is generally what I have equipped in the shout bumper. I'll add SkyUi as a #/-.... |

That's why i said earlier that it's not an advantage for my warrior, but it's a huge advantage for my mage. Having different outfits for each magic school instead the generic Archmage Robes to lower the cost, it a big difference for someone that uses all the schools of magic. |

I could do the same thing though opening up the inventory if I wanted to min/max like that. I just don't. Truth be told, I use SkyUI because it's easier for my blind ass to read. That's pretty much it. That and a few of my other mods required it because MCM. |

Yeah that... 25 mod's that require it because of their MCM menu.. Not all are used all the time, but the majority are. |
