Adella versus the Giant Spider

Andra don't look ;)

The health bar is hard to see.....but it bottomed out around ten points (or less). I think what happened is after she took Cure Poison....and being almost dead as she was...the bug did a spit attack...of which a small amount of damage got past the 'Resist Poison' potion to further drop her health.

Dead again.

Despite AR 492.
And a waraxe of 177
Level 33
65 hours in.
Avanchenzel....gathering metals

Killed by a Dwarven Sphere after fleeing through a loading screen door.....the Sphere spawned through too and hacked her down. I HATE how they get to spawn through faster than the player char....blatantly unfair that!

Bearing in mind her high Armour Rating.....and very good waraxe, it is hard to see how Spheres are meant to be beaten then! Do we need armour capped gear before tackling a basic Dwarven ruin?
Spheres make Marauders look like kittys.
Last time we were in here all her gear was maximised...is that what its is meant to take? Pointless getting the metals at all, if smithing is already maxed out.

Well, here's the deed I suppose :(

I am in soooo much trouble with her right now......

This time I am gonna wring it and pound it and beat it's damned stupid virtual brains in. I WILL NOT be bested by a bloody computer game. I refuse to lay down and die for the satisfaction of Todd's bastard creation.

Watch your back SKYRIM I'm coming for you.

I think, at this point, I'd be inclined to take a break from Skyrim, if it were I. :)

Dayum Rick... If I was Adella, I would already have kicked your ass.

I'm kinda with Glargg.. only you have to find a place for Adella..soooo FO4 will give a different look to her, but still beautiful...

A break to start again with a renewed viggor... and a clear mind.

Rick,

Give FO4 a good long tryout, say 100+ hours and really see what it has to offer. With the current Nuka competition I've rediscovered what kept me hooked on FO4 for 2K hours. I can definitely see Adella going Commando :O , Heavy Gunner and Demo Expert. That is my favorite blow everything up wrecking ball, "I will crush you" build. Quite fun! And, she can look spectacular doing it :)

Right......I am trying to keep calm now, but I have just been suckerpunched by a medium spider and Adella's likeness is dead again. As you can imagine, this has annoyed her immensly. She's stomping heel holes across my cortex as we speak!

I thought the red dot on my compass was the spider up the path out of Falkreath....but it turns out not! Because the vile bug was in fact creeping up behind her! Normally you can hear them clacking.

At low levels, even small spiders can be fatal....its not the spit....its the jump attack thats lethal...kinda spider power attack!

Level 10....just qualified for Lakeview too....grrrrrr

So,
Restarting today, Sunday 30 July. In 3 minutes....thats mid day, London.

Obviously this was meant to be the historic moment....rather than yesterday's re-start. (Rolls eyes).

Yeowcha! Take it easy girl, you're making my hands wobble ;

I'm with the others Rick...FO4 is quite well suited to Adella's, err, proclivities. *snicker* You might want to let her at least know that she has choices. hehe

Rick, buddy, Pal... Let me bend your ear like a Dutch uncle for a moment, eh? First, let's clear the air a touch, okay? Skyrim isn't beating you. Rick is beating you. Who was it who decided that Legendary wasn't enough, and Adella should start with 0 skills? Who's bright idea was it to forego the use of healing potions and spells?

What I'm saying is, don't complain if you make the game impossible and it kicks your ass.

Second, I know you know the definition of madness, right? Which is "repeat your method of doing something over and over again, and each time expect a different outcome".

I don't know about FO4 as the answer because it's actually a lot tougher than Skyrim in many ways, but you gotta switch up your routine, don't you think? Just sayin', eh? :)

I'm going to second Neil's suggestions, and go a bit further. Please forgive me if I step over the line; I mean well.

Rick, I think you're playing too much Skyrim. Any activity, done for many hours a day, becomes a "job," i.e. it becomes how we define our lives. You're basically living in Skyrim, which is a fantasy world, and you're risking having that fantasy world become more important than the real one that you live in.

Playing a game is a "vacation" from the solid, stressful world of our daily lives, but there's a risk of making the "vacation" too important, and then it may become a source of stress in itself.

Guys, guys, I know.....dammit, I agree too, but y'see....I just can't stop. I feel almost demonically driven with this thing.

Neil....it's not impossible.....Adella's Trial....it's not technically....impossible.

If I can do a whole questline under these conditions that must prove it can be done eh! It IS hard. To maintain the require care and diligence needed to survive it.

It's like by analogy learning to drive a race car....in this sense....you know that to put in a good lap means pushing hard and one mistake on one bend could be fatal (a Skyrim battle). But lots of people could put in a good time around one lap (A quest) ....the adenaline fuelling the concentration needed to stay on the track under pressure. So why can't everyone become a good race driver?
Simple....you have to maintain that dilligence, that concentration, lap after endless lap. You gotta be just as both hot and careful on lap 81 as you were on lap 1.
And that is where Skyrim gets ya....that is where I fail the Contessa. By lap 50 I feel comfortable, get nonchalant....get careless.....get dead!

You know...early in her Trial.....on Bethsoft in fact.....some guy posts in....saying I was kinda trumpet blowing.....that he had just done a Companions quest with no healing and on Legendary and not died.....so why did I think my challenge was such a big deal? I don't think I answered him....but what I should have said was....yes...you did one single quest, good for you...but what about ALL the Companions quests...and All of the faction questlines? Still gonna be alive then?
However, can you not see the lure here....the carrot....the prize!

To be able to say for myself and in the knowledge of those who have taken or spectated that journey with me.....that I did it all...DiD...on Legendary and not healed. To many it will seem a waste of play time....but to me it makes my endeavours sincere and worthy of my time.
I fully expect some (newbs) will say my achievement is false, not even possible....but it matters not....because my friends know differently. And those who actually manage to do this thing with me will feel rightly proud.

So..no dear friends....I can not stop.....'I fight, because I must' (Ulf..Rick) ;)

It's not a question of stopping, Rick, and I also don't believe it's impossible... but with that said, perhaps you need to switch up your play style now and then... What if, by some weird chance, your own playstyle is what's dooming your attempts?

What if you need to forego all of that high level AR for more stealth or more Illusion? What if, you can't beat the entire game with melee combat? You talk about the sphere's and how tough they are, but we just finished a competition full of dwarven spheres. What if they aren't meant to be beaten by any kind of an axe?

That's what I meant by doing the same thing over and over again only to achieve the same outcome. If you want to change the end result, it seems to me that you have to alter the method, eh?

Hmmm, well you see there is a reason behind the melee and bow only approach.

If I allowed 'some' magic use to provide an alternative angle on defeating foes.....the line would have been crossed. Where does one stop? The emphesis of the Trials is all about the player using their own skill to survive...which is why there are no npcs allowed.....no followers, no dogs, no summons.....no use of computer Ai to aid your endeavour.

If I used illusion to set npc against npc.....that would not be my conquest....even if the target selection and moment of implementation were mine to make.

Perhaps in a sense there is some illusion going on.....when sneaking, which is like faux invisibility, but sneaking is passive....not making a kill by itself.

Hmmm.....perhaps I am not articulating this well. The Trials have to be unaided. No offensive advantages. Survival must be down to the direct wit and skill of the player combined with the facilities of the build. A very personal goal.

Perhaps some time I will concoct a mage version which will be all about using illusion and summons, but to do that I would need to find the angle that makes the trial.....well....a trial. It is hard to work that out for magic because mostly, getting through the quests is about killing things. Magic enables that to be done without the same risks. In fact the most resiliant and "bad ass" build you can make is battle mage...impervious to physical and magical attack while having the ability to assail foes with summons and sword at the same time! Your only problem there is running out of perk points.

The melee build is good....but not invincible......Warmongers soon bring that point home. Armour stops upto 80% of physical attack (wiki says) but 20% of a badass boss is still a lot of pain on Legendary. However, I was surprised that an armour rating of 492 proved do ineffective with a sphere.

Until.....I took Armour Skill into consideration. Armour Cap gear is useless without the required high armour skill in using it. Must have both to be protected. Which is where the problem arises with rapid levelling.....tough foes....but great armour....but crap Armour Skill cos its such a slow riser. Result....the great armour doesn't work! Result....dead!

Well....I have waffled on quite enough. Her ladyship is keen to get busy. We are currently level 22 and have done half of Bleakfalls....but had to pull out due to running out of unfilled soul gems....well we can't waste those draugr souls can we ;)

Here is her initial stats update at level 3 leaving the cave on Sun 30th Jul. Nothing fancy, the next update is more informative.

:)

Edit in....stop press!
Adella's stats update at level 10

And yes.....I do use the same locations quite often and those music tracks are starting to become her signature themes!

I love how she kind turns her gaze right into the camera just as I am about to call up the stats.....this happens strangley quite often :)

But why stop there.....when stats at level 20 is ready to roll? :D

Ok, ok, that's enough....we are upto date for the moment.....and still alive

Well, I have stopped for tonight!

Dead...level 29
57 hours in
CoD Mirmulnir...who was an Elder dragon.
His fire blast just got into the Western Watchtower far enough to catch her with the edge of it.....but that was enough to send her health bar into a nose dive.
Funny thing you know....I never recall her being quite this sensitive to a bit of fire breath.....I mean it wasn't a full in your face blast or anything....just the licking edge of flame.....but dead is dead...... She had fire resist pots too...but they have to be taken before the flame reaches you! So no good in this case.

But just look....level 29 in under 60 hours plus Lakeview and all crafts in the 70'ish region......that good right. Yeah...thats good. Good.

I'm gonna sulk a bit tonight and watch 'Ant Man' instead.....tomorrow is another day....and another re-birth in the keep with good ol' Ralof ;)

Thinking.....maybe I should have sacrificed the faster smithing under the Warrior stone for my usual Lord Stone...she might have still been alive. Its a new thing with me.....keeping the warrior stone until smithing is maxed....but it is no use at all if she's dead is it!

Ok....no use crying over spilt milk.
Oh god...this means chopping another 200 firewoods and finding 200 iron ingots to kick start smithing. <Rolls eyes>
I hate this game so much....
So much

Yes, I do lead. Adella is um' mostly reactive rather than pro-active.

That is the nature of your inner voice.....you think of doing something first....then your inner self /conscience etc says hold on are you doing the right or best thing here...what about the alternative...?

So yeah...Adella argues like crap with me at times and is more than capable of putting me back in my box.....but she is invariably arguing 'after the fact' rather than coming up with fresh ideas herself.

The nature of the beast is to counter me, rather than be innovative and creative. But heck....lets not get all psycho-analytical here.....she is what she is.

As you say....she has to put up with my inept decisions.....then tears me a new one when it all goes wrong.....exactly like being married ;)
