Rick, if you are interested in posting as both Adella and Rick more often, let me know. There is an option (that's currently disabled) to allow dual logins. I haven't tested it out, but it's something we could look into. |

Rick, I think it's a very good thing that you're actually considering that some people are going to get very weirded out over your personal setup with Adella - the internet isn't actually a very nice place. Our little space here, yes - it's all fine however you want to play it. But a wider internet is.... a really icky area to get on some folks' shit lists. You would do better to try the wider internet world in another place like Lovers' Lab's forums perhaps. People there tend to be far more accepting of the somewhat different.... I mean instead of beth.... Edited by Serethil, Aug 10 2017, 09:49 AM.

Not sure if it's wise to let Adella see what Lover's Lab is all about. ;) |

About 75% is sex related. ..but their are some very good mods, textures and other than sex animations. Course the rest IS sex stuff, from pictures to stories to quest lines...well lost of stuff... some of the armor is freaking awesome. ..and some really well done, but.. too revealing for me. |

I suspect that Lover's Lab would only make Rick regret getting an XBox instead of a PC. ;) On the Rick/Adella Internet thing...I've found that there are quite a few young (or not-so-young) males out there in Internet Land who are very insecure, and who react emotionally to the idea of a male roleplaying a female. I've run into it at times when talking about my characters. And there are also some males who, based on gender-assumption, get all testosterone-pumped and ready to pounce, and are shocked to learn that they are chasing someone who is not what they imagined. :D So you're bound to "lose" some people. I wouldn't worry about that. I'd just worry about where Rick is in all of this. You're spending a lot of hours reinforcing a dual-persona self-image, and it's important to understand that SELF is a mental construction in the first place. Those who practice Zen spend years safely deconstructing Self without inserting an unhealthy substitute in its place. Be mindful, my friend. :) |

Hello everyone, it's been a while since i posted here because...well, it's Summer and there are a lot things going on at the same time, leaving virtually no time for gaming. I did had the chance to play a little, so here i am for an update. Last time i met the leader of the Greybeards, Paarthurnax. He told me to find a specific Elder Scroll and Arngeir said that my best chance it at the Collage of Winterhold. To my surprise i was denied entrance, but after i let her feel the power of my Voice, Faralda was impressed and she let me enter the Collage. I got straight to the Library and after a few hours of reading, i finally found a clue about someone called Septimus Signus that may know the location of the Scroll. The librarian knew him well, but he hasn't heard from him for many years now. Apparently my best chance to trace him is the Ice Fields north to Winterhold. On my way out, i've come across a group of students and a teacher. He nust have though that i'm one of the students, because he asked me to help him with a little demonstration. This required me to cast a spell (something i've never done before) while he trows a fireball at me. As Tolfdir says, unless you can control it, magic can and will destroy you, but in my case it only destroyed my reputation because i was standing there making a fool of myself with no magika to cast that damn ward... Before i head north in search for an old man, i have to take a little detour to a cave nearby and kill the creatures inside for Aela. I found the old man, but he's talking in riddles. According to Urag gro-Shub, he's a genius, but to me it looks more like a madman, or maybe it's both. At last i was able to get him to tell me where i can find the Elder Scroll. He even gave me what's supposed to be a key to Blackreach and some sort of metal cube. I'll have to figure it out as i go. According to Septimus Signus, there are 3 access points to Blackreach: Alftand, Mzinchaleft and Raldbthar. Since i already had a quest from Mjoll to retrieve Grimsever from Mzinchaleft, that is where i'll go. Unfortunately i had to force close the game because of the Great Lift bug. The solution is to disable the autosave feature, leading to a more reasonable transition. Blackreach is one of my favorite areas in the game, so i really enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny for more than 2 hours. It's a dark, dangerous and gorgeous area. I activated the Great Lift at Raldbthar only to find Alduin roaming around not far away. He even revived a dragon for me... I kept what was best for the last: the falmer boss and the trapped Dragon. Well, the boss was wasn't quite a boss after he tasted the power of my voice... Before i go, i'll make a quick update on my stats: Time spent fo far: ~ 52 hours Level: 40 Skills: Spoiler: click to toggle Weapon damage: 240 Armor Rating: 315 without shield, 379 with shield Magic protection: Spoiler: click to toggle

Great going AD, you've been heavily into the combat, and all in just 52 hours. Well, I won't say mine for now....you put me to shame ;) Glargg, Have no fear, Adella 'lives' for Skyrim and related forum involvement.....she does not crop up during normal daily activities.......well, not yet anyway ;) But...yes, it is true that building what starts out as a regular game char into a persona....takes a fair bit of self imposed brain washing (meditative thinking if you want to be posh) . But then we all do it to some degree don't we. Like this.... (Danger...long Rick ramble ahead) Spoiler: click to toggle |

I don't do "kinda meditation," but I do actual meditation, and have done so for many years. :) I don't buy into any of the Freudian stuff; thought is essentially just conditioned response, and Experience, together with Memory, are what condition Thought. The Self (what Freud called the Ego), is nothing other than a persistent mental construction, i.e., a persistent thought process, and it is every bit as conditioned as every other thought. We go about the process of constructing a Self every day, with the things we experience. When we create a character (no matter how much or little we believe in the character), we are using that same constructive/conditioned process. It's exactly the same thing as building a Self, and in fact, anything that we create in mind is essentially just a bit of our Self. Every bit of imagination is part of that Self. So, yeah, we create, step by step, an "emergent personality." Most of us, though, only associate that personality with the unfolding process of the game playing. In my case, and in the case of others, apparently, I let go of my own personality to whatever extent that is possible, and allow myself to become immersed in the game. What you're doing, I think, is attempting to split off part of your own mental process into a separate Self. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I suppose that as long as you know that you are doing it, it's not particularly dangerous, any more than it's dangerous for a Zen practitioner to completely eliminate all thought (and therefore all sense of Self) in meditation. The key is to be mindful of what you are doing. Edited by glargg, Aug 10 2017, 08:41 PM.

And on that note glargg we are completely in accord. I like your explanation of self construction and it fits well with my 'brainwashing' or positive reinforcement of the developing, personality ;) Here's the big difference between Adella and a regular well developed game char. Adella has not been built..or preprogrammed..with a set of conditioned responses to fit a story line. She grew her own 'nature' but where did she get it from? Well Me of course! Which is why every one of her traits can be directly correlated to a reversed version of mine. I don't think that is by accident, and I have done everything in my power to positively encourage her growth, even if it is not nice. So yes glargg....she is a chip of the old block, a reversed version of my constructed 'self' and building her...or rather, helping her build.....has been tremendously rewarding fun. You might have noticed some odd things about her over the last 18 months which I find hard to explain. Here's one of the strangest.....when I type out her thoughts on a subject....she is more concise and pithy than I can be....her logic in an argument is demonstrably sharper than mine. Adella might be using my brain, but she is somehow has a higher IQ than me, better grammer too.....figure that one out! I ramble...she is straight to the point....weird huh! I expect a professional 'shrink' would recognise several known processess going on and be able to articulate it in more technical terms. But essentially, if I read you right...you are absolutely spot on. In fact, I don't think anyone else (other than Sah) has ever understood us with such clarity :) Of course....having a 'char' in the manner of Adella totally ruins your normal char role play fun. It's a price I am happy to pay. I don't know what the future holds, but I hope sincerely that she endures and continues to grow....hopefully mellows a bit as she matures too. Thank you Glargg. |

Yeah, Rick, I think we're on the same page. :) The only concern I have about you and Adella is the massive amount of time that you play, and I think I've said so before. Ya gotta come up for air! ;) Seriously, though, it's a lot of hours. You've mentioned being out of shape, and I don't think running an XBox controller burns many calories! So get up, put on that lampshade, and dance! :D |

LoL.. I saw a video.. Oh 3 or 4 yrs ago now.. the guy, like Rick, played on a large screen TV... Only anytime the mans character walked.. so did the man.. on a tread mill... battle, he stopped, got off.. killed whatever and go back on the tread mill.. only if he picked up anything in game.. he added the same weight to a back-pack... said it kept his weight "realistic"... |

That's actually a rather interesting idea. Some treadmills are programmable, and can interface with a computer. Mine has programmable belt speed and elevation, so it might be possible to devise a way for the treadmill to make me walk uphill when climbing, stop when my character stops, and speed up when I break into a run. I don't know how to do it, but I bet it can be done. :) Edited confession: At the moment, the treadmill is making a dandy clothes hanger in the corner of the bedroom. :D Edited by glargg, Aug 12 2017, 05:29 PM.

Whaaaat! It would be terrible.....if Adella could only walk/run in synchronisation with me on a tread mill.....she'd need a sit down and muscle rubbing in Riverwood (which I would be happy to provide :D ) Jeez....we wouldn't even make it to Whiterun..... |
