Thanks guys....bit of a minefield eh! I knew much of that lot, but some bits are unclear. But I have to say I take uesp with a bit of the old pinch of salt...its not always right.

On the old vanilla game for example the "armour cap" was baloney....you can test it easily. I "think" its still baloney in SSE even with the unofficial patch added...but I need more conclusive testing before putting my neck on the block over it. Early testing indicated that very high armour ratings DO continue to ameliorate some damage protection.

In the old game on vanilla apparal elemental resistances never stacked... like adding a 15% fire resist necklace to boots 40% boots of dwindling flame....still left you at 40%. To get more you needed an apparal of over 40% fire resist..that then became the new higher level of resistance. I think also potions of elemental resistance did not stack with apparals of elemental resistance, I vaguely recall testing it expetimentally.

But yeah...magic resistance stacking I never tested.

Looks like the spell absorbtion method is a waste of time....in fact dangerous....for DiD play. If it sometimes lets in the full blast of a magic attack....even once.....well its curtains!

So resistance is the way to go.....currently, Adella has Lords plus Mara giving 40% then. That's good...but not enough yet.

We have never done the Alteration perk thing for upto 30% magic resist...maybe its time to stump up for some Alteration Training. A total of 70% would be enough for all but the worst dragon or arch necromancer attacks. I normally enchant her boots with 43% fire resist and give her a ring of 43% shock resist. Nord blood (50%) takes care of the cold.

So lets see...if a magic attack did 100 points...magic resist brings it down to 30 points and apparal enchantment drops it to about 16 points.....sounds good to me :)

Of course when she reaches master alchemist she can brew elemental resistance potions of well over the cap meaning only about 5 points damage get through.....her normal health regen would soak that up.

BTW.....do you know that normal health regen is a %age of your total health?

That means the more health you have....the faster you heal. The starting rate is only about 0.5 point per second..maybe a bit less. But when your health is like 600 you will heal at around 3 points per second....its significant in combatting say spriggan poison spray...

Oh...before I forget...here is Adella's latest video....earning Lakeview and it incorporates her level 20 Stats Update :)

https://youtu.be/Qujx0eswAFs

Greybeards comes next...then I guess we're off to Ustengrav.
Better get that magic resistance sorted post haste ;)

Thanks for the input guys :)

And the health regen is one of the reason's my Characters use stew's early game.. before lvl 10...after that, they have enough health regen on their own. ..for all but the toughest of foes.

After a long, chatty season between Farengar, Delphine, Irileth, a Whiterun guard and Balgruuf, we were sent to "investigate" the appearance of a dragon at the Western Watchtower. Shortly after our arrival the dragon attacked us.
After we killed Mirmulnir, i wanted to get that Lord Stone, but i turned back because my caring capacity was at the limit, so i have to unload all my loot before i do anything else.
Back at Anise's Cabin, i decided to complete the quest for Siddgeir and buy Lakeview, so i headed west to kill some bandits. The bandit leader at Bannermist Tower was a disappointment. I was just a simple bandit, not even an outlaw. I expected to see a Bandit Chief there. These bandits near Whiterun put up a better fight. I had to lure them to the giant's camp nearby because of that Bandit Outlaw caster.
My character wasn't satisfied, i needed to find some stuff he can kill. I remember the mission from Farkas. Looks more like a suicide mission right now. Without magic resistance and just a slightly improved armor set, i went to Shriekwind Bastion. That silver sword i picked up in Dustman's Cairn was really useful. Skeletons died in 2 hits.
Their leader, a Master Vampire was really tough. First i tried the tactical approach. I let the flame traps roast him a bit, but the damage the took was minimal.
That's when my character took control lost control.
The result was a swift death for the Master Vampire.

Here is a short video showing stats, equipment, active effects...

You took on a MASTER VAMPIRE with basic gear  and defeated him with what? Orc Beserker Rage looks like....double damage output...WOW!

That was impressive......Risky......but impressive. No Way would Adella risk breaking a nail with one of those monsters until she gets the full UF shout and can blow him over the edge!

Kudos to you AD.....just don't get too brave ok! ;)

Berzerker Rage allow you to deal double damage and receive half damage for 60 seconds (real time). So, not only i deal double damage, but it also halves the amount of healing he receives from drain life spell.

About being brave, even if i die, i will only return to the chopping block and Alduin will be there to save my neck. I wonder if anyone tried to disable Alduin right after he appeared.

Hard to disable a dragon when your hands are bound. All you get before the "unbinding" scene if you try to pick something up or aim Flames is a message about "you can't do that" or something.

I think what he meant was literally disable Alduin using the console command.

Oh. Hmmmm. I never tried that. Probably.... it wouldn't work. I think Alduin is "sacrosanct". But if it did work.... you'd likely have a borked game.

I think "borked" would likely the describe the most probable outcome.

Yeah. There's some definitions: messed up == well, I can maybe back off a few saves and it'll be workable; screwed to hellangone == ugh, I'm going to have to go back 10 levels to get this right; f'd up == damn.... that mod they warned me about just totally blew my last 20 levels; and then you have -

borked totally == eh, I really thought just using the console to disable Alduin in the opening would be okay - really, couldn't hurt, right?

Wrong.

Not sure if this mod still works, but someone at one time changed the beginning so absolutely no Alduin and no dragons.

Well, Skyrim Unbound does a perfect job of "de-dragoning" the game....

I went ahead and tried it just for the fun of it. Most of the events are scripted and are not linked to the actor Alduin. There's only one event where Alduin is required.
Here are the videos:

Today's episode is dedicated to Lakeview, so most of it it's boring stuff, like working at the lumber mill for the logs. The only interesting part was recovering Runil's journal from Bloated Man's Groto. A dragon attacked right when i left with the journal, but i let a giant and his mammoths to take care of it.
