Yeah, it's a bear with other heavy script load mods. It's not really stated as such in the docs, but you can tell from posts.

So, yeah, if it's working fine for you with a clean install.... that's where I'll have to go. I want to get the whole thing running right - before I go back to Skyrim Unbound to see where things don't work.... optimally....

Now I didn't get far... it's just a matter of running around and finding a few things.. I haven't had much of a chance to play. So I don't know if everything is working right..

Yeah, I'll have to winno my load order down.. the script heavy stuff anyway.

Sere, do you have the Holidays mod? That one causes NPCs to wander to towns for certain holidays. Even disabled the scripts for the NPCs still run and could interfere with LotD.

Nope. I never do that sort of thing. I really think it's the fact that my install dates from 11/11/11 - yes, I've updated, patched, and so on.... but really....

Oh, btw Bram - Legacy has built-in support for that holidays mod IIRC.

Yep. Clean install, plus a few "can't do without" mods - the 50-display event fired just fine. So.... my seriously antique install plus a gazillion mods made it just not work right.

So. I think I'll just save a backup of this install, and then add back all the mods I'm missing, a few at a time. When the 100-display event fails, then I'll know I need to go back a ways.

Let me tell you how HARD it is to play without all my QOL and tex mods though. Sheesh.

tex mods shouldn't affect it any.

My guess is its the QoL ones.

Or left-over extraneous scripts.... You can't trust NMM to actually get rid of them. Which is sad, and I hope (assuming they ever get a new NMM really together) that Tannin's NMM version will do a much better job of that.

That'd be nice if it did, whenever it gets released. One of these days, I need to try out Wrye Bash. Problem is, I installed everything in the x86 folder, and will have to do a reinstall of Steam, Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, and Age of Empires II.

*sigh*

Didn't realize it at the time. I haven't done much PC gaming in the Win7-10 era, until now.

Yep. Of course, I was always one to keep my games on a second drive. Literally as far back as my second machine, which would have been in 1987 or thereabouts.... So 7 and 10 being bad about UAC crap never affected me anyway.

Oh, I should note: reinstalling Skyrim was pretty painless. Surprisingly.... I remember it being a total PITA at release. But I just used gstaff's instructions from here, and it was about 20 minutes while it installed, and then steam verified the files and downloaded 325kb of something or other.

In other words, slicker than you know what.

Ooooo - I better copy that stuff to file in case the site does go bye-bye....

They need to post all of that in the new forum too.

Don't hold your breath.... That's why it's now in file on my hdd.

And the events at 100 displays fired just perfectly as well - even after I added another half dozen "almost can't live without" mods. So I'll add some more later and see what happens.

Update: I was still having major issues. Enough so that I bit the bullet and posted again on Legacy's page. Upshot - I had downloaded updates to Amulets of Skyrim and Immersive Jewelry - which somehow I failed to send to the appropriate folders. So they were in the downloads folder win 10 insists on using unless you circumvent it....

I of course, space cadet that I can be, assumed that since I'd downloaded them, I'd applied them. Nope. Once I found and applied the updates to those two (ONLY two) mods, everything is now working perfectly.

Lesson for the day: if you're going to run Legacy, make sure EVERY OTHER MOD YOU USE is fully updated. That's just not - negotiable.

Ouch... well, I will have to be careful which ones I use with it.. as I have a couple that are no longer anywhere... Well, they can be done without, if need's be.

Well, the deal is that if it's an "older" mod without current updates, Legacy's generally fine with it. But in the case of those two jewelry mods, they'd had recent updates, and Legacy's ULP took those into account.

So yeah - Ice and sirjesto et al, are really on top of things. So a user of Legacy and any mods which are integral or patched into it MUST be on top of all those things too.

So we all know there are a LOT of people out there who denigrate beth for not releasing games "squeaky clean". I don't go there myself - because I don't have bugs in games for the most part. Not even Undermountain.... probably the only person in the world who didn't have bugs in that game - and finished the game without the patch (you know - since if I didn't have the problems the patch supposedly fixed.... why would I have gone there?)

But I do want to address Legacy - and its developers - with regard to beth, Skyrim, and other mods which are either integral in Legacy, or have Legacy-provided patches so stuff doesn't go south.

For the most part, icecreamassassin, sirjesto and jcbq are on top of things and provide patches in a very timely manner. Things occasionally get poo-pooed (and that can also depend on the poster to a great extent: something a relative "unknown" posted about the jewelry cabinet snafu was brushed off - until arkayn and bardathe (and I - though I'm still a "relative unknown" there) posted that we had the same issues. At that point ica decided it was probably bugged.

So devs in any huge endeavor seem to want to get "blinders" when something is released - especially something that's in the dev's mind, finished.

I think the things they all fail to take into account: the variance in platforms - and on those platforms, the variance in operating systems; the variance in number of mods - and kinds of mods; and the variance in aptitude of end users (as in, how comfortable any given end user is with the machine, the OS, the game, and the mods s/he is using).

Given all those variables - well, I give all the devs a pass. One person's bugged game is another person's smooth game....
