Cora had to actually kill two of the bandits at the Whitewatch Tower, because they ran out to attack her, and the guards decided they had somewhere else to be. I don't count that kind of encounter as a "dungeon cleared" unless the game automatically does so, in which case I don't argue. There are enough difficult dungeons to offset the occasional easy one.

Two examples of easy "clears" would be Yorgim Overlook, near Fort Kastav (one skeleton), and the Abandoned Prison near Lucky Lorenz' cabin (a few ghosts; LAL starts you here.) These get marked as "cleared," but it's perfectly fair, considering that we all have the same opportunity to visit them.

Fort Kastav is an example of one that doesn't get marked as "cleared," but should count. Those necros are tough. Same with the other forts that have CW quests associated with them.

Cora is leaving mage lairs for later. She just did Redoran's Retreat, bringing her tally to 12, and has done a pilgrimage over the mountains, visiting the Lord Stone, picking up a certain spell tome on the beach near Dawnstar, and talking to some people about local quests. She has about 12000 gold. At level 9, she's starting to encounter some more dangerous animals in the wild.

She's currently all the way across the map, west of Riften, on her way to Ivarstead, on a quest for Mara, and has a bounty to deal with some bandits near there, at Bthalft. On the way, though, she's found an intriguing excavation called Angarvunde, and has entered into a questionable agreement with a questionable Dunmer to explore the place and split the spoils. :)

I am sticking with dungeons cleared (per the stats page) plus forts. Otherwise, it gets too confusing.

Yeah, that's what I was saying, except that I used way more words than you did! ;)

You just have to be careful, though, because some of the forts do register as "cleared." Morvunskar and Ilinalta's Deep would be examples of that.

I've just been writing them down on a notepad, once I exit the dungeon.

Either way you want to do it is fine, just if it happens that you "clear" a place, but it doesn't say "cleared" is does count.. up to you to keep track and count it.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing at this point, just writing them down so that no matter what, I will be able to at least find out what was or was not done in the end.

As of right now The Dread Zombie Tubasha is 13.5 hours in, level 10, and has cleared:
Embershard
Bleak Falls Barrow
Redoran's Retreat
Silent Moons Camp
White River Watch
Valtheim Towers
Rift Watchtower
Northwind Mine
Northwind Summit
High Gate Ruins
Ustengrav
Mount Anhtor
Bonestrewn Crest
Hall of the Dead (Whiterun)
Red Belly Mine
Fort Greenwall

She has killed Wyndelius and defeated the Cultists (without the help of guards BTW, lazy bastards just watched)

Tubasha has also joined the Companions, but not yet been to Dustman's Cairn.

Wraith Modesta has been a very careful little Breton on her way to level 8. She started with the "local" stuff, went to Markarth and cleared Kolskeggr for a Forsworn bow. Then a ride to Dawnstar and a nice hike to the Lord Stone and a pleasant visit at Silent Moons. Just cleared Bleak Falls last night and was surprised at what a pushover the Draugr Overlord was. Tonight she meets a dragon! Dungeon totals are not impressive and she has 5K in gold so far.

Az'Yrinne is LvL 4 with 5 hr's played.

2 dungeon's cleared:
-Ilinalta's Deep
-Embershard Mine

Az found a dead bandit with her horse standing over the top of her... so we ran out to get "Flame Cloak", I had thought about going to the CoW.. but at lvl 1 that might have been a death blow. She went back to whiterun via Solitude, where she caught the carriage. Then went on to do Embershard then Ilinalta's Deep...

ATM she is making her way back to Riverwood to sell off some of her junk.. she retrieved nothing she could use from either place. ( spell Tome's in the Illusion & Alteration tree's)

Confirmation wanted on a point not clear to me from the posted rules...

It says no weapon or armor creation. What about jewelry?

I've held off on making any, because I wasn't sure.

I would have to read the way Kane wrote it ,but I meant it as no creating... Tempering, charging and using yes ... with the cavate of eating raw ingredients.

Kane gets ruling as Host.

Yeah, my interpretation was "no creating," meaning no jewelry. But it's not exactly spelled out, so it deserves a ruling, I think.

Cora has a pile of gold ore. She has Transmute (Alteration is one of her skills), so it was a no-brainer to make iron into gold.

(In case anybody is wondering, Transmute is not a training cheat. I turned something like 30 iron to silver and to gold; it took something like a half-hour, with all the waiting for magicka to regen, and Alteration only rose one point, from 44 to 45. :) )

I had understood it to be no creation also....preventing making arrows (which hurts when all your enemies are melee) and also ruling out the atronach forge. A little work there and you have all the atronach spells and a handful of scrolls.

Eragon made a brief outing, but was put down by a restless draugr. I had let myself get distracted by the one handed weapons floating beyond their hands and a trap not triggering despite me bouncing up and down on the button :/

Sorry about Eragon...

Tubasha has added Dustman's Cairn and Hamvir's rest to her Dungeon list, and is now a full member of the Companions (though does not yet have the beast blood).

Thanks guys, Eragon will be back tomorrow....going to try a fresh re-install of the game in the morning and re-do my modlist...hopefully that'll solve the issues it was having.

One more day off then I won't have much time again for a week....6 days straight in work and I dislike trying to squeeze in an hour or 2 before going out. Always seem to be at an unfortunate point for saving ten minutes before I really need to be gone :/

I knew this competition would be tough, being a skill challenge and not having my usual crafting arsenal to lean on. I didn't fully appreciate the impact of my ingrained "better living through superior everything" playstyle I have relied on. :O

Wraith Modesta level 9 fell to the Bandit Chief in Broken Helm Hollow. What really bothers me is how I let it happen. While I have studied the "Squishy Doctrine" of cunning and tactical retreat and want to emulate Tubasha and her style (and all you others too!) when the time comes and "its on" I stand my ground and trade blows. And die. Repeatedly. In this case its my Modesta vs Bandit Chief in steel armor with a 2 Hander. I have UF shout and it doesn't occur to me to use it, or maybe just run away and live??? Sigh. Wraith Modesta is dead, but I reloaded many times to try different tactics...yes I did beat him with melee eventually, but you probably know what the smart play is. Climb up on the conveniently placed ledge opposite of said Chief and arrow him to death. Now I know :ugh:

Instead of restarting a Ghost Modesta immediately, I use now Tester Modesta and explore and try to retrain my brain and NOT play like I have in the past. You know, maybe think and act like an unarmored, modestly armed player should. Okay, got my head in the game, sneaking and peeking, actually took out a group of four Frostbite spiders by being a little smarter, moving more, regrouping and reducing their number in a nice manner. Hey, I'm getting better! Woot. Walking just a couple hundred yards down the road two Sabre cats jump me and I'm toast. :bang:

What I lack in skill I (almost) make up for in stubbornness. Ghost Modesta will be started soon and shall thrive! Okay, I'll shoot for living past level 10 and go from there. :bunny:

On the plus side, it sounds like you're having fun getting re-educated, eh? :)

Mind a little advice? (I'll assume you don't mind, and give it anyway ;) )

So, there are a couple of things you can do to toughen up. I don't know, maybe you already do them, but... the first is, if you absolutely must try to duke it out with a two-hander, us block and bash while you're blocking to disrupt their power attacks.

the other thing is to learn that for chiefs and the like, vegetable soup is a great thing to eat before the battle starts. The reason is that it not only restores health, but it restores stamina, and allows you to block and bash almost continually. You can literally bash a bandit chief to death without ever taking an actual swing at him.

Final on the list is the fact that sometimes, everybody has to run for their lives or stand and die, and running may be harder to do than you think. Your opponent will almost certainly try to nail you in the back if they can.

I'm sure you know the advantages of the Lord Stone, but there's also the "Voice of the Sky" which is really helpful. You gain that by reading all ten of the marker stones on the 7000 steps. A lot of people don't know about that...

Anyway, don't give up, it's just a matter of adjusting your play style. :)
