Honestly, I think a lot of us do use fire more often. Shock spells cost more in magicka for some reason, and of course Nords are 50% resistant to cold, making frostbite more of a problem.

True... I just tend to use fire more than any other magic.. cause it's a starter spell.. and all the characters have it.
That's one of the things that is changed by the Classic Classes mod.

Starting characters don't have spells unless they have the corresponding skill. So you'd need Destruction to get Flames, or Restoration to get Healing. On the other hand, if you do choose a different magic skill, you get low-level spells for it, like Fury for Illusion, or Oakflesh for Alteration.

That's one of the reasons I like the mod. There's no reason that a Nord barbarian should know how to cast a fire spell.

" There's no reason that a Nord barbarian should know how to cast a fire spell."

(In a voice that sounds suspiciously like either conan the barbarian or a Whiterun guard) What do you mean "NO REASON"? HAVE YOU GOT ANY IDEA HOW COLD IT IS SKYRIM? The first thing a Nord baby does is try to crawl back inside his momma where it's nice and warm, and that's why the midwife always slaps his bottom! The second thing they have to do is learn to make fire! Skyrim doesn't have any maternity wards because the babies keep burning them down! Humph! No reason indeed!"

Yeah, and I'll believe that when I see a guard cast one, instead of complaining about being warmer with a bellyful of mead. :)

Well, they all CAN cast flames, but they don't because they are guards and still serving time as a punishment for burning down the maternity ward... ;) Yeah, it's not known to many, but guard duty is Skyrim's version of community service.

Yeah, of course. What was I thinking? :ugh:

Anyhow, I like the idea of non-mages not getting spells, unless it's a racial bonus. Because I like characters to be able to start out different, with different skills.

FWIW.....totally agree that spells should not come automatically at CC.

I would want a char to only learn spells commensurate with their chosen speciality.....or none. Bethesda kinda took some of our RP choice away with that move....I wonder why they did that.

Seems odd to me that the Devs being so deeply entrenched in the ethos of Role Play, should do something that goes against player freedom of choice for their char eh!

Yeah, I don't think that the "class differences" need to be enormous, as they are in older roleplaying games, but I like to be able to start a character with a little something that suggests their future direction. It makes them feel more like they have a past.

I'm having a good time playing around with Nokandu, because he makes me see the humor in Skyrim. But I think he's a little too laid-back of a Cat, to be pretending to be a Dwemer Scholar. He'd rather be back home at Lakeview, tending his garden.

Funny how we can all have Lakeview....and each think of it as 'our' Lakeview.

I recall seeing a video of the place and the player had put a Mannequinne upstairs. I felt really odd about that...like....they have put the creepy dummy in my house. Then seeing some other char being strolled around the place like they owned it!

Like one of those alternative reality sci fi ideas.....or like I built the place and died....now seeing it as a ghost as some new tennant moves in...

So which is the real Lakeview and who ownes it?
There's only one answer.
The Dev who designed it back at Bethesda Studios....we just get copies....facsimilies....our version of the reality....our personal little dream....but it ain't real. Only the original is real.

Can we break that spell....maybe.....by personalising every detail......adding decorations and ornaments unique to our version.....making it....ours :)

Hah. I don't have (and won't) Lakeview or either of the other two - or Severin Manor either. I built them all once. And done. Not my cuppa.

Regarding Lakeview... well, that's the thing about Fallout 4... You can actually build your house, nobody will have an exact duplicate of either the floor plan or the furnishings inside even though everything you can add comes from a common "pool" of structural materials, clutter and furnishings.

That is everything that I originally thought Hearthfire was going to be... but I was soon disillusioned.

I use Lakeview when I "test" a character..reason's is that with SFO and other landscape overhauls.. the tree's and grass and water in the area give's me a good idea what kinda FPS I can expect everywhere else. The wolf spawn with IC.. let's me know how " fighting in the tall grass" is going to work.. or not work.

I tend to use Lakeview over any of the other vanilla houses during competitions.. and rarely ever touch any of them during RP's...

I hardly ever fully build any of the HF houses anymore. I have some started now, and not finished, and some with the land owned and that's all. When I did build them, Lakeview was never my favorite, Heljarchen Hall was.

Heljarchen is the last I used with any play through ( fully ) and mostly because of the Mod Heljarchen Farm and the cabin mod I had.. it made a nice "family" compound..type deal and worked with the play through.. I could not find a single other mod that did what I wanted and combination's.. caused CTD's

One of these days I'm going to have to learn to build one in the CK, but until then, there's plenty of mod homes I really like!

Great vid, Areial! Two things though... What the hell happened to Valtheim towers (in the vids of both you and Sah)?!? I don't remember it being like that...

...and that last song on the music track sounded a whole bunch like the "Cocaine Blues" but it didn't sound anything at all like the "cocaine Blues"...
