Gaius has planned on skipping the thieves guild altogether. Not a fan. Shame you went through the whole questline.
Honestly, I didn't really know what her reaction would be until the moment of no return arrived. I know, it seems odd, but that's how it was. Perhaps it was because, while she's stealthy, she's really not a thief at heart. :)

Two things....

One...Kes,
That archery ability 'steady hand' how useful is it...does it make a good difference or just a nice to have extra. I have no remembered experience with it..if ever. Give me some inside intel please hon :)

Two...Neil,
Brilliant ....yes....that's RP functioning at its best. A PLAYER would say...dammit I have come this far....and I am darned well gonna finish it.

A fully RP'd CHARACTER however, can walk away as Al did if THEIR mood takes them to.

I sometimes do not see eye to eye with m'lady (often maybe) but I would have forced her to continue because I want and need it done. That means then I am playing pretty uncomfortably throught the remaining quest line.

If and when we emerge from the dark woods of this insane trial.....and true RP can ensue....she will have total say over all of it...as I promised way back. :)

I think it's great the tail is wagging the dog...hee hee ;)

Gaius just hit level 30, no on Expert. He has just been tasked with looking for the staff of magnus in Mzulft. He also cleared Shimmermist and Sightless Pit in between Mages Quests. He will likely head to Solstheim before continuing the Main quest. I really want to have dwarven sphere follower this round!

Somehow, I had forgotten Sightless Pit and Shimmermist Cave... So, That's two I can go do without travel to Solstheim. Thanks for mentioning them, eh? In my current health, I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack. I'm pretty sharp for a little red rubber ball attached to a wooden paddle by an elastic string though...

Rick, the Steady Hand in Archery will slow time while you aim. It can give you a better chance to hit something that's doing a lot of moving around.

I wish there was a perk that did the same for spells like "Lightning Bolt"...

Actually the same thing can happen to bow&arrow. I just shot the first bandit in Halted Stream Camp interior from the mine entrance door. She stood up and came looking for me and with her standing about 6 feet in front of me I had 2 arrows go right through her middle and hit the far wall. It wasn't until she turned that I was able to hit her with an arrow. Weird ass havoc mechanics to be sure.

Al has fallen in Fahlonbutthardz on Solstheim. I'm really starting to hate that place...

At any rate, she was on the verge of destroying a Centurion Sphere Master when she was nailed from behind by a dastardly, cowardly Dwarven Spider Guardian. It kinda seems like no matter what's going on or who or what I'm fighting, Solstheim has a way to get me from behind. Damned perverted place is full of pervs I tell ya!

I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do now... Nothing in the competition structure though, that much is certain. Time for a break, eh? :)

Anyway, Al - being a full mage - made it a lot farther really than I ever thought she would. I started out thinking she'd be lucky if she made it halfway through Adept level, but she actually was halfway through Expert.

Here's her stats if anyone is interested:

Sorry about Al Neil :(

You did very well though! No conjures and it sounds like no followers...that's a tough one. My destro/conjuring mage is 26 now, but I'm a wuss and have Jenassa as a bodyguard and will throw down a frosty too. Even with the added help I'm getting worked way more than with Dwemsey ever did, but then again I've been tagging every Falmer and Draugr with soul trap before I get busy. I must say I'm much more "involved" with/in the action. I'll take a wild guess and say that's partly because with a mage I'm not one-shotting many things :O

Tomorrow I'll go to CoW and get some Adept destro spells and then hit Mzinch.

Edit: I'm still playing Orchestra too, I just had the urge to hit the Dwemer dungeons with a caster, so Dwemette was born.

Sorry 'bout Al....she gave you plenty and kept your attention. A good char there. The Contessa has fallen also....that's 200 hours and 4 minutes lost!

Damn this Dead is Dead thing :(

Every time I think of her right now I am getting bad vibes.....she is really unhappy with me. :(

Thanks guys. It's true she had no follower, but she did use the Sanguine Rose on occasion even though she had no Conjuration skills. Still at the end of it all, the main problem is that Destruction magic does not improve damage-wise beyond point X where you have chosen the level 60 damage increase perk for one of the three elementals. then, as the difficulty increases, proportionate damage goes down but not with a proportional increase in magicka.

That means you get Expert or Master level spells like Thunderbolt for instance, but they use so much magicka that the ultimate end is a reduction in the amount of damage you can do without even considering the increases in difficulty. Al had Thunderbolt, but because of the magicka cost, she did more damage using Lightning bolt when all was said and done. That sucks.

Sorry to hear about Adella, Rick. I really thought you were going to make very long-term strides this time. it was looking like you were going to be unstoppable!

Lappuaboy: Good luck with Dwemette!

Thunderbolt.....jeez I hate that spell. We have been on the receiving end of it a lot lately.

Briarheart at Lost Valley Redoubt/Bards leap
Nightmaster Vampire in Shriekwind Bastion
Nahkriin the Dragonpriest at the Sovngarde portal.

How come they seem to have inexhaustible magica reserves.....zap after zap just seconds apart. Ya can't even run away....they zap ya on the run.

Even with Lord Stone and Agent of Mara working your talking 150 points damage per hit. If it wasn't for our anti shock potions we'd have been dead several times over.

If you could fire off Thunderbolt like npcs do....you'd trounce all opposition!

See....I keep telling folk that even with all of Adella's great gear and levels....she is far from an invincible tank. Death is always just a few seconds mismanagement away eh!

Theoretically, NPCs should run out of magicka just like PC mages do, but the fact is that they don't. Their magicka is good for much longer, even if you hit them with a magicka eating poison or magicka drain. They cheatses, they does. I KNOWSES it.

I just decided to give Al another go (not in competition) but I've added Immersive Magic Overhaul. Since that would make the game easier, and I may want to use this load order later in a competition, I also added the Monster Mod. These are of course SSE versions, so we'll see how it works out.

I won't be updating Al here in the Competition thread, but somewhere else (I'm not sure where would be best at this point) so anybody who's interested can see how this experiment works out.

Sorry to hear about Al... she had a pretty good run!

I may be able to get started again tomorrow or the next day... mostly just busy now, we have inventory at work, so are getting extra hours... no one bothered asking if I wanted them.. but... it is what it is.

Jun approached Ustengrav as quietly as possible after seeing a Necromancer and three thralls patrolling the area. Jun thought a bit of attrition was in order before he engaged the enemy, so he cast a Fury spell on the Necromancer.

The fighting ensued and the Necromancer killed one of the three thralls rather quickly, but then, in true Necro egotism raised another body that was lying near the fire. Much to Jun's amusement the new thrall immediately started attacking the cursed Necromancer. When the Fury spell finally wore off Jun was able to quickly dispatch the Necromancer and the last thrall turned to ash.

Jun decided that was a very economical way to get the "job" done and would employ it more often whenever circumstances were presented themselves!

Bram, I take the necromancer out from range and the three thralls drop once control is gone. Economical. One of them usually remains in "body" form, occasionally muttering "Thank you." The other two turn to ash piles.
