I'm done, wrecked, :smash: , :bang: , :x:

I updated a mod without even thinking about it and have thoroughly borked my game. I didn't realize anything was wrong for several levels, several quicksaves and even more hard saves. There is just no going back to level 15 when Jun was currently level 33.

That'll teach me :bat: to keep my mods where they are during a comp and not touch them when they're working just fine!

Starting anew, but not in the competition. I really want to do this full Dwemer Scholar play through, but I'll do it without worrying about the time constraint, etc.

Grats to everyone that's getting it done! Fear not Jun Drunah, aka Light Bringer, will rise again. Let's just hope his LAL Left for Dead is somewhere other than Salsaheim this time. ;)

Sorry to hear that, Bram. It must be the season for 'puter issues. Day before yesterday, I'd played for a while, then closed the game, came here, messed around... Anyway, I went to go back to my game, and it wouldn't go past the Main Menu.

I'd click on "Play", it would act like normal, but the Bethesda logo screen would never open, I restarted the computer, and it worked fine, but now I'm nervous. While I was trying to get the game to open I happened to notice that my antivirus (Avast) was disabled. That's been happening with a lot of frequency lately, and I can't seem to get any help from Avast.

Anyway, I downloaded the Trial version of Malwarebytes and ran a scan that turned up 32 PUPs. I got rid of them, and everything has been fine ever since. I think I'll buy Malwarebytws when the trial period is over.

I bought MalwareBytes back when it was beta. LOVE it. It's just a seriously quality program. I don't actually have an AV program now - none of them seemed to be great, and all of them wanted a lot of money (not to mention AVG deciding to sell user info a year or so back) - so I have the firewall set pretty tight incoming, and Windows Defender running, plus MalwareBytes Premium.

I've used Malwarebytes to clean infected computers since about 2004, and it's been really great for that. You wouldn't believe some of the nasty crap I've pulled off of people's computers with it.

Oh, sure I would. I've done the same. When I worked for the trucking company, we had an "IT pro" who made a LOT of money more than I did.

I was the one who kept crap off the system. I was also the one who discovered that the payroll manager was gambling online using company machine and time; and that one of the clerks was letting her husband look at porn while she was cleaning the offices after hours.

Eric was useless as tits on a boar hog. For which, he made $100k a year

Grats indeed Kane and thanks everyone. Was my own damn fault which makes it even worse! But I can report that Jun was left for dead at Alftand rather than Salsaheim. I'll be getting pics together tomorrow to post in the regular DiD thread/screenshots.

I'm playing this through with similar contraints as the comp, i.e. dificulty slider increasing with level sets.

I've been playing Al the same way. She's at level 20 and on Adept now, but still hasn't been into a Dwemer ruin. I figure to just take it slow and enjoy it.

Two things....

One.
Chenoa.....phwar! :D
(Sounds like a river or a native american name to me....Like button!)

Two.
Like Bram I messed with my load and nearly lost the progress. Using that "Sit Anywhere" mod....it really began to mess things up incrementally getting worse by the hour. But after moving it just two jumps in my LO and a couple of console hard resets....it has now settled down and causes no further issues. Mods are weird ti be sure.

Did I recount my strange experience of the mod that wouldn't die. It was the 'Better Night Sky' one with the lovely purple nebula overhead, but it removed the little moon Secunda. Anyhow....I eventually tired if it and disabled the mod.....er' STILL THERE. Ok....so I fully deleted it from my LO......STILL THERE! Fully wiped it from my library....YEP! Eventually with it all expunged...and after about five full console shut downs it finally went! Sheesh...talk about persistent!

I still get the infamous Xbox 'Buzz crash' every few hours.....mostly in the tundra close to Whiterun. With SSE...this is the new Riften!

I would like to remove 'Beauties of Skyrim' because it practically nerfs using eye shadow in the CC screen and the Boss has been nagging me about her eye makeup.....but I am too scared to touch it :P

yeah, but it's a little different when you are working with 20 to 60 PCs owned and operated by John Q Public, who feel a need to download everything they see.

You know, like having to hunt through 35,000 files for the one that is actually a virus, then use safe mode to change the name on the file or folder so you can delete it without destroying the entire system.

Then there were the early ransomeware PuPs... "Is your computer running slow? Download our instant Speed check to restore like-new speeds." then as soon as they download it, they start getting the blue screen of death every minute or two, their desktop goes insane, and they find out they have a choice... either buy their software to clean the "malware" off their system, or pay someone like me to come in and remove the "instant computer repair" app.

Those things aren't removed by using "uninstall software" and trying restore won't do it either.

Thanks all! I'm glad it's over, to be honest. The last ten hours or so just felt like a boring grind to me. I don't think I had any real interest in the Thieves Guild this time around.

I enjoy the thieves guild... sorta. I like it while I'm doing jobs for Delvin and Vex, and I enjoy doing goldenglow, Honeybugs Meadery, and sometimes the Warehouse thing in Solitude (except that I hate that it's so dark and the path is so confusing to find). The minute Mercer gets into it though, I just want to bitch slap him so BAD... and sometimes I remove his protected status and do it anyway...

Hey, I saw a gif the other day that was titled "Best Video Game Bitch slap ever" and it was indeed a good one. I'd LOVE to do that to both Mercer and whassername panties-in-a-bunch Black-Briar.
