Having never done the DLCs before, you'll get a kick out of Nchardak and Fahlbtharz on Solstheim :)
Word from those in the know....the Contessa may wish to bring her swimming costume along for Nchardak with Neloth...there's a little splashing around.

I think those who claim to have "beaten the game" after a month are probably the ones who complete the main quest, possibly a couple of Faction questlines and called it a day because they think they've seen everything. Two months for the achievement hunters assuming that'll lead you to everything possible in the game.

Thanks for the heads up....she's clocked that! I will remind m'lady to take her helm of waterbreathing...just in case ;)

Well, we have set foot on Solsteim....in fact in a comp round we killed a dragon out at Saerings watch, solved the RR mine issue and got masks from Dukaan and Zakriisos....Benkongerite and Karstaag were nice extras.....BUT....the Miraak quest....will be fresh to us! Jus' thinking about it is scary!

However, if the Contessa survives through her tough trials, well, Miraak is 'on the list' :nails:

As much as I like Dragonborn, I do have to say that that the first time through it was.... scary. Seriously. NOTHING in the vanilla game - produced that amount of sheer "OH HOLY SHIT".

I have to agree with you there Sis. It was very different, and I think part of it, for me anyway, was that I'd gotten 'comfortable' in Skyrim, and then bang, arrived on Solstheim. Felt like another world.

Hey Neil, you can get a dwarven sphere or dwarven spider follower from Kagrumez. No Dwemer Scholar should go without!

Eh, Dwemer Constructs? Is that from a mod?

(snip)
Constructs are the same as Automatons. There are follower Automatons in the Solstheim quest.

Good luck with the mage at high level. I think Destruction is going to wimp out on you. You'll really be relying on the Impact perk, because the spell efficiency drops off really seriously after the Apprentice level spells. Fireball makes a lot of fine noise, but is less than twice the power of a firebolt, at twice the base casting cost.

The only automatons I ever encountered like that were the summoned variety from the Aetherium Forge. :)

As to high levels, I just don't think that's going to happen. Not that I don't want to, but I've got right at 20 hours into Danae now, and she's only level 16. I'll be surprised if I make it to Master in 60 hours.

Anyway, you've inspired me glargg... I told you I had a plan for Orchendor... Sah showed me how to trap him, but the manner of his demise was all mine. :)

I posted a video on the Competition Videos thread

I'm afraid I have no idea who or what Kagrumez might be... but I've never had or heard of a construct follower before other than summoned. :D I'm so naive and unerprivileged... makes me fooel like a red-headed stepchild, eh? ;)

Neil, hop the boat to Solstheim this round. The Kagrumez trials are fun. Dangerous, but fun.

We have never done Avunchenzel....in six years....never.....just too much to do....everywhere. Only did Sightless Pit for the first time this year! I have heard kids saying how they beat Skyrim, got bord and moved on, in like, under a month! How in gods name? Oh well....it's good to still have new stuff to look forward to....like....All the dlcs. chuckle....Ah, one day!
Really? I figured that would be a regular stop for you and Adella. The reward gives you a permanent 15% learning boost for smithing.

I'll have to keep that in mind. I rarely spend any time in solsthiem... Seems like playing Dead is Dead, I get my characters killed off before I get there far more often than not. :)

Question about LAL starts. Is the vanilla start a requirement or can we, like with Nokandu's test, use any of the starts? That is, do we still need to start from the Tower with Ulfric/Ralof where the freakin' idiots can't take the time to cut our bond there instead of after we run the gauntlet!

I was thinking about that, too, since we've had the LAL start option prior.

Splutter Splutter! Whaaaaat !
15% faster smithing...really! OMG....I didn't even know that.
Imagine the boon that gives as smithing slows down.....duh!

Owwww.....I've a sudden headache onset......feels just like someone is jabbing long pointy nails into the top of my brain.

I know we all get pretty tired of "The Cart Ride"... and I have no problems with using an Alternate Start ( LaL or otherwise).. but the question becomes.. Home ownership or not? Faction start or not?

Personally I have no issues with Home ownership or Faction start.. that would give a mage a good perk in starting AT the CoW.. instead of having to get there ( which might just be taking a carriage). and of course home ownership also has it's perks...

But we would also have to have a way for 360 or ps3 players to get some extra perks as well ( not that I know of anyone playing on those atm).. I think an extra 5 hr's of play time and a Riverwood start is fair.. Strait to Riverwood after Helgen exit)

It's long been a stop for me as soon as I can. No Falmer, so you only have to deal with the automatons. A decent haul for dwemer metal, and the Ancient Knowledge reward.

I'm not against faction or house starts, but they might make it too easy in the beginning. I think something like the Inn, left for dead, or shipwrecked would up the ante a bit more. Less so for the Inn start.

I'd rather the cart ride, than left of dead DiD...cause.. Solsteim...

Not that I wouldn't use an Inn Start or Camping.. or.. anything else!

Which btw.. is a great idea for a round.. we all start "Left for Dead"... Hunter or Hunted....

I've done that quest a few times, and never noticed that I got anything out of the deal. 'Course, I never wear Dwemer Armor, and rarely do much crafting beyond the steel perk...
