Usually the exit from the Vault isn't really video-worthy... I mean beginning character restart and all, right? This time however, I was completely discomfited, discombobulated, and generally at a loss. There was something important missing, and Holly just couldn't find it.

She went back in the Vault seeking it, but it just wasn't there. It wasn't under the bed, it wasn't in the hall, it just wasn't there at all... and after searching endlessly decided to just continue on. Here's how that went.

Uh. If you don't exit the vault with it.... can you ever find one later?

This would be the first time I've actually left the Vault without one. You can't exit the Vault without it because you have to have it to open the Vault door. However, I made my save inside the Vault after the door was already open, so when I loaded the save there she was with no pip-boy but the door open.

I know what caused it, I had three pip-boy mods, and I uninstalled two of them but something went awry.

the worst thing about it is that you can't access any part of your inventory.

Yeah, but there is no save prior to that. It's okay though, she got her pip-boy after sleeping in a different cell... which was what I had been hoping for when I left the Vault.

Kristy is 18 now and doing well..after I got over my seriously detrimental fear of dying at every turn. Cautious is good, scared to play is bad!

We have made our way to Taffington, cleared that and Medford Memorial (which is one of my favs). I think next will be the train station there and Vault 75, before continuing the search for Valentine and the Railroad. She is getting more and more capable, and well armed but not well armored yet.

Kristy looks good decked out in the army gear. I much prefer those fatigues to the other set. I'm curious, have you ever tried this mod? It changes the outfits you choose to a more feminine 50's style.

This is an example of the fatigues Kristy is wearing in your picture. You can also choose a variation with stockings.

Holly V Wood didn't get very far... fell to a trio of Super Synths on her way to Tenpines for her first Garvey assignment. The poor girl had been cursed since the very start though.

To begin, she had no Pip-Boy, then once in Sanctuary there was not even ONE damned antibiotic. She woke up on her second morning suffering from a disease that caused her to take an extra 20% damage, and on her fourth morning, yet another disease started hitting her for 20 points of damage a minute.

She ran all the way to diamond City to get to a doc, avoiding Concord, the Drumlin Diner, and the Cambridge Police station, but she was caught up in a fight with supermutants. near Diamond City. She survived, but with almost no ammo remaining, and managed to get treatment before the diseases killed her.

Still achingly short of ammo, she fought her way through the Sumner and Parker ghouls, took Hangman's alley, rescued Danse, and saved the Garvey crew on her way back to Sanctuary. When it was done, she had a dozen or so rounds of .308, maybe a hundred .38, and some .45 rounds. Her 10mm was down to about 35 rounds or so.

I'm still uncertain as to whether her deise was a tragedy or a merciful release... Anyway, another Holly will start up when I decide if she's going competition or not.

In either case, the new Holly will be seeking some better mojo, and looking for a chicken bone to carry around. :)

She might need to stroke that chicken bone over her gun(s) - might help the ammo issue?

Do you take the Scrounger perk, neil? It makes .38 ammo pretty abundant. Sorry to hear about Holly's hardships - those diseases really do suck.

The mental image from Sere's post:

Holly flexing an arm and running a chicken bone over her bicep.

*sorry, but that just is what happened*

Used to be this old guy out at the casino who came in to play poker. He had a chicken bone he always brought with him and laid on the edge of the table. One of the small bones from a wing, eh? Said it brought him luck. Must have worked, the pit boss said Old Sam could stay, but that chicken bone had to go...
