Dhark was tasked by Preston to help out some folks down in Somerville. He made the long and treacherous journey killing Rust Devils and their bots, super mutants, a number of ghouls and even one Alpha Deathclaw (seemed to take forever, but that's how it goes when the mouse is trying to kill the cat). Dhark spoke to the gentleman living at Somerville about the trouble. He told Dhark there was a settlement "nearby" that has something nasty living there that if Dhark could get rid of it he new of other settlers that would be eager to move in and set up shoppe. Dhark muttered to himself as to what this guy thought "nearby" actually meant since the place he told him about was the Sunshine Tidings Co-op clear up north from where he'd just come. Dhark was too tired to smack the guy around for his insolent use of the word "nearby" and just turned around and headed on out of there. What bothered him more was he new he'd have to come all the way back to tell him the job was done and then trek even further north and east back to Sanctuary to fill in Preston. |

Hey, but remember, it's your destiny to be Preston Garvey's yo-yo... General... ;) Kane, I don't know why I can't seem to quote more than reply these days, but oh, well... Anyway, I was going to say that I too have had three or four heavily armed Supermutants attack on numerous occasions... but never 5 supermuties armed with mini-guns and missile launchers and accompanied by several hounds. Trust me when I say I've fought through my share of attacks but this one stands out by miles. |

Kane, sorry about Roxie. Darcy got to 23 last night, and had some pretty brutal battles herself. The Boston Public Library was the hairiest one I've done, and this is on normal diff. I went through the back bay door as an employee, so I had all the protectrons and turrets on my side. Helped defend that area from muties with mini guns, and the battle moved to the subway entrance area. Hole-E-Spank that was rough, and again VATS saved my ass. Not in killing muties, but in surviving a frag grenade a few feet from me that blew up two protectrons and took half my health IN VATS. I saw the red grenade symbol, couldn't locate it, hit VATS and the damn thing is landing feet away. Okay, I can exit VATS and try to chuck it back...although seconds have gone by. OR stay in VATS and ride it out. Well, made it through, healed up and then had to kill some muties with mini-guns. Oh, I should mention I'm level 22 here, and the higher muties were 30. Laden with loot we exit the back bay door to hear heavy foot falls. Behemoth? No, a Deathclaw downtown. I've never noticed that if you cripple both hind legs a Deathclaw can still scramble to you quite rapidly! After unloading back in Sanctuary, I FT to the Dartmouth building in Boston. Before I FT I always ready a weapon and am in stealth, plus I had cleared that out right before. Yeah. The ghoul group of The Summers et al were there, all level 30, plus a group of Raiders, some 30, others 14. Now you would think the raiders would be focusing fire on the ghouls. You would be wrong. I am not a ghoul fan, especially charred later on. How can a rotted pos move so freakin fast? I'm getting beat on, taking rads and raider fire including rounds from the leaders hardened combat rifle. Those hurt. It all hurt. Got through it, but I was really shakin and shaking, thinking man I need to find another line of work or something ;) I'm second guessing my Gunslinger choice and might have to perk Rifleman as the levels go up. We'll see. |

I downloaded the mod, and have been using for several hours now. It really looks good, and I'm quite happy with it. At least the Pip-boy part. The armor and hood that come with it are pretty OP, at least from my perspective. Again, perhaps they'd be alright with a different character at high levels. Anyway, the pipboy is great, and thanks for the link! :) |

Darcy turned 26 and is happy :D . At level 26 overcharged capacitors and improved sniper barrels show up on laser weapons at vendors, so she now has her Neverending reflex sighted laser pistol so equipped and her Righteous Authority scoped pistol with the improved sniper barrel and boosted agitator for critical headshot use. I wish she had a suppressed CQB pistol stronger then her 10mm, but all in all :thumb: I've bought enough concrete to start Fortress Sunshine. The only occupants will be Darcy, Dogmeat, and bots when I can build them. No pesky settlers. My collection of teddy bears, toy cars and trucks, toy aliens and of course moon monkeys is progressing nicely ;) They don't count for the competition, it's just a Fallout 4 obsession of mine. I would like to see a FO4 toy collecting challenge sometime B-) Sah, How are you doing? Edited by Lapuaboy, Jul 24 2017, 04:00 PM.

Building at Sunshine, eh? I thought about that, it's a nice location. I was of a mind to scrap all those cabins if I did. I ended up though (as usual) concentrating on Starlight. I'm not going with the fortress concept though, it's going to be a town... I hope... :) Holly Wood is now part way through level 24, just finished "The Lost Patrol", and I think she'll be going to Far Harbor for the BoS next. Haylen and Rhyse have given her two assignments there, so it should be worth the trip. |

Far Harbor :thumb: I'm curious as to how tough it is at this level. I've only been at higher levels and has earned my utmost respect, to put it mildly. If I didn't fast travel Sunshine wouldn't be my pick either. I haven't used a "scrapper" mod, or any building mod before, but now you've got me thinking that might need to happen. |

I am glad to hear there's another toy collector out there!!! I've been doing that since Fallout 2 and always have fun. Beth certainly had a laugh placing them in certain places and, um, positions (the teddy bears, that is). ;) |

Heh, the Teddy Bear in Backstreet Apparel is my favorite, I think... One time, I found three of the little robot models all at once in a cafeteria, and I thought maybe I'd collect them, given such a good start... but I set off a mine that ended that character almost immediately afterward. Kinda soured me on collecting. |

Now, admittedly I don't play the FOs.... but the reason I now won't start a Skyrim girl WITHOUT Legacy of the Dragonborn - is because every girl I've EVER run in Skyrim is an inveterate collector. Seriously. They even hang onto stuff that's most likely not - important - ever.... |

Holly didn't go to Far Harbor... When I looked at the map, it turns out the mission for Haylen wasn't in Far Harbor after all, so I decided to do that one first. The mission was at the General Massachusetts Blood Clinic and Holly successfully acquired the tech. Unfortunately, she didn't survive the trip back. Her mistake (or mine, if you will) was deciding to wear a suit of T-60 Power Armor to take back for the competition. While wearing it, she wandered into a situation where she was attacked simultaneously by a Red Widow Bloodbug and a Mr Gutsy. 2 Days, 9 hours, and 28 minutes in, and at level 24. THIT! (I say it because I have a t-shirt that says that, but I don't really know what it means...) Thinking on it though, there is one thing I might like to mention. While I think a "Settlement building sub-contest is a good idea, I'm not convinced it is great as an event during a DiD competition. When I think of the hours of tediously frustrating real time effort I put into Starlight this time, I've kind of got the notion that I won't bother again. What a freakin' waste... For those of you who don't play Fallout, just think of it like this. Suppose for your Hearthfire home, you had to design the entire layout. Then you have to acquire all the materials to build it, and that those materials are many and far more varied than a few bits of iron or steel and lumber. Then when you go to put it together, the walls, ceiling, and floors refuse to mesh together without hours of tedious micro-tweaking of position for nearly each and every section of wall or whatever, and... you're going to do this for an entire town, not just one home. Frankly, losing that effort is harder to take than losing the character... |

http://www.thit.com/ and I still have no idea what it is or stands for P.S. I would vote for Holly to continue on for the purposes of completing the building out of Starlight (yes, I want to SEE it) :D P.P.S. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=thit basically says THIT is when you want to say "that" and you also say "it" Edited by Brambleberry, Jul 25 2017, 12:15 AM.

Not long before she died, wifey got an offer from a web site for a free t-shirt. She decided to get one for me, and that is what it said on the front of the shirt. You were supposed to go to their web site to find what it meant, but she never did, and I guess I don't want to so much, if you see what I mean. I wear it out to the casino, and it's a great conversation starter... People just assume that it's someone with a lisp saying "shit"... :) EDIT: continuing on with Holly just wouldn't be the same, but I'll tell you what... I'll use Holly to finish off enough of it that you can see what it would look like. It might not have functional versions of everything, but visibly, it should look more or less complete shortly. How does that sound? Edited by neildarkstar, Jul 25 2017, 12:28 AM.

Not long before her demise, Holly took part in a three-way. Yes, Gunners, children of Atom, and herself, all in one bit of thrilling killng in near-total darkness. I couldn't resist posting it, just to see if y'all get as big a thrill as I did... it's in the Competition Video thread, here. About six and a half minutes long. :) |
