Sorry about Holly Neil :( Darcy just turned 35 and is still lusting for combat. A little over 1500 kills to date (yes, she watches her tally closely). Sunshine now has some guard bots and one farmer bot; more will be built as mats are available. Dogmeat even has some planters now, and happiness is an even 50 now. It dropped to the low 40s...guess he got lonely when she was away with Deacon. Darcy got Deacon's perk tonight, so his days with her are numbered. I think we'll go see Cabot next and deal with a crazy sister and megalomaniac father. Lots of combat rifles and armor to be had there :) |

Way back when Dhark had to go to Corvega for the folks at Ten Pines to get rid of the raiders; so he did. Today he needed to place a MILA on top of Corvega for ol' Tinker Tom. When he arrived at Lexington he found that many of the mines he'd previously blown up were back and there was a Behemoth wandering about chasing ghouls. After the Behemoth killed his last annoying ghoul he just stood there looking about like he was bored. Not wanting to be the Behemoth's next victim Dhark found a fairly secluded spot that would be difficult to hit with boulders and started taking pot shots at one of the Behemoth's knees. It wasn't long before the Behemoth fell. When Dhark went to loot any items of interest he found that the Behemoth was carrying a cafeteria tray and realized the thing was just looking for some lunch! ;) |

I uh... I kinda like the behemoths... They never go out of their way to cause me trouble, although Swan has scared hell out of me a time or two. My last encounter with a behemoth was also in Lexington. I was being pursued by a whole damned pack of ghouls, and I ran around a corner right under the behemoth's feet... To say we were both surprised would have been an understatement , eh? Well, I just shifted into "sprint" and headed back around for the Superdooper, and damned if those ghouls didn't kill that behemoth. Anybody says ghouls can't be tough hasn't tried the right crowd, I think. :) |

Dhark had returned to Faneuil Hall on account of Tinker Tom wanted another MILA placed. This time at the top of the Commonwealth Bank (his theory on Institute Terraform of the commonwealth having failed he was on to his next theory). Dhark looked upward at the arduous climb it would be to get to the top of the bank where the plank stuck out high above him and thought, "You know I never have been inside this Faneuil Hall." Being of a curious nature he decided to explore the hall, but not until after he readied his rifle (just in case). Alas, the hall was overrun with Super Mutants. Dhark decided to clean things up a bit and after many a bullet casing hit the floors he offed the last Super Mutant and made his way up onto the roof. Apparently there had been some construction on going when the bombs fell. Looked like a bit of a touch up of the paint. As Dhark neared the steeple portion of the building he found a Gilded Grasshopper and a note. The note yielded the identity of a certain Shem Drowne and the location of his burial site and if the note was any indication a weapon or treasure of some value. Dhark made his way back down to the streets and over to the graveyard not too far away. After dealing with a handful of ghouls Dhark rolled up his sleeves and dug for treasure. A gold bar, a couple silver and three copper bars as well. But the sword was most interesting. A final note was buried with old Shem. Dhark had inherited his sword that does radiation damage to its foes. Not something he was proficient in using, but would look nice on display should he ever build himself a home. Sighing once more Dhark turned toward the Commonwealth Bank and it's many stories above the streets beckoning him upwards to place the latest MILA for Tom. Well, that's the end of the competition for Holly. She's going to on, because dammit, she's going to finish Starlight if she has to build it in the middle of hell. It's been fun, but I really don't understand why it's so hard for my characters to stay alive in a competition. They rarely get killed when it doesn't matter, eh? :) |

You know Neil, most of mine are the same way, I can go hundreds of hours and they never die, don't take a potion... use a healing spell. Others they do use healing one way or the other.. but they don't die.. The only thing I can think of is that during a challenge or competition we tend to thing.. " I have to".. but in normal play it's.. "Can I".. One of the thing's I do sometime in my characters life is run them through Forelhost.. I want to know where they stand.. I save in Riften.. if they die, they we go back to Riften and they try again later. But you see it's a " Can I".. not a " I have to" |

Maybe that's it, I dunno... I know that even if a character is NOT DiD, if they get killed too often, I lose interest and it means the end of the character. I greatly prefer some sort of "Death with Consequences" in my normal play chars. EDIT: After a few moments of reflection, I'm kind of wondering if the truth isn't that I'm actually getting tired of the DiD concept itself. I wonder about a competition designed to send characters into danger where death, rather than ending the run, meant incurring a large penalty to total score each time it happened. Death with Consequences. We've sort of done that, with the difficulty drop-down zombies and wraiths. One simple possibility, for not requiring a total start-over, would be to require that special hard saves be made at levels 5,10,15, 20, etc., and that the player must drop back to the previous special save on death. |

I doubt that FO4 has the mod yet.. but look at the spec's on... Death Alternative- your money or your life I use this mod on most of my characters, not all though. I like it, it's just one of those things that add's to the surprise. It work's well with a follower as they can "save" the PC.. but it work's just as well without. Bandit's "get you" and they might steal all your armor and money. .. Draugr might just leave you for dead.. It's very interesting. It has a nice MCM menu so that you can change your settings.. The "Bleed out" is one of the thing's I like the most, it gives you a better change to live.. with consequences. |

Yeah, but I think the drop in difficulty really only made the game less interesting IMO, rather than being a true "consequence". I was thinking more along the lines of a points penalty severe enough to leave a player finishing in negative territory points-wise. heh, we could even have a "Darwin Award" for anyone who actually did finish in with negative points. :D
I used that mod before, but it seems to me that I disabled it for a competition, and then SSE had no equivalent so I never got it back after I migrated. I think that relies on the Script Extender, eh? Fallout 4 has JADE, but I've never tried it, and I know very little about it actually. It's been up quite a while, and its last update was last October... |
