Hmmmm not being able to return to home base from Nuka World would be dependent on how far into Nuka World you've gone with it's mini-main quest line. Once you reach a certain point you can go back and forth as necessary. The proposed last save that would allow you to go to home base is sketchy due to game mechanics. That is, the game really likes to overwrite saves without the player's consent. Because the save system was designed with the consoles in mind it purposely overwrites a save like Commonwealth with the next save somewhere else in the Commonwealth so as to not take up too much hard drive space. Perhaps one might see about phases when it comes to Nuka World. That is make a Save right before boarding the express (then manually put a copy of that save in a folder that is safe from the game). That way you'd have a reasonable save point that would require a scary run to do as a consequence of that little thing called death. The "put a Save in a safe folder" method could be used for any save you do, but that might get complicated for tracking purposes. Waiting with antici . . . SAY IT . . . pation! for the next incarnation of Valleri ;) |

Why not just have secondary and tertiary home bases for the out-of-Commonwealth locales? For Nuka world, say Bradberton (out of the park, and rife with strife). Far Harbor, I'd say Acadia (centrally located, but not necessarily easy to access). |

I've discovered something about FO4 and saves. Sometimes when you just reload or after a death, it will show you a save that is quite a ways backward in time. I mean, it shows that save as your most recent, and if you had just hit 'continue" that's where it would have put you. However, if, on the reload page, you choose "Select Character" you will get a menu with two options. One of those options is "Show all saves" and if you select it, lo and behold your actual latest save will show up... along with perhaps two or three saves that are more recent than the save it tried to reload at first... If you've ever thought that you had made a save more recent than the one it reloads for you, you are probably right! I should make a video showing that, eh? I don't know if I can or not though. :) Sorry, I hadn't seen your post kane, we overlapped I guess. Uhm, well, I don't know anything about Nuka-World, but in the case I was thinking of, I had just started the Gauntlet when Valleri was killed. The only Nuka-World save that wants to reload is right after exiting the monorail (I think that was an autosave done by the game). So, my choice would be to drop all of my weapons and armor, get through the gauntlet, try to find out where this place is that you mention for Home Base, and then get to it without weapons or armor. Sounds like a pretty tall order, eh? In a case like that, I'd just be screwed, because I don't believe I could GET through the Gauntlet without armor and/or weapons. I'm covering all the bases here... :D I just posted a new video featuring Nothing. It's in both the Enduring Characters thread for Nothing and in the Fallout video thread here I'm thinking you'll enjoy it, mundane as the subject would seem at first glance. |

Nothing just sucessfully handled her first Side Bet. the event was initiated by a Giant Radscorpion almost in Drumlin Diner's door... Nothing 's reload took her back to her bed in Sanctuary, and the run started from there. On arrival at the Dartmouth Professional Building she stepped into a battle between several notorious feral ghoul gangsters and a band of Raiders. In a few moments "Lucky" Sumner was having lunch on a Raider (literally) and Nothing managed to acquire a Pipe Pistol and pair of longjohns from the Raider. "Lucky" was unlucky enough to go paranoid just after she got the weapon, and of course he met a bloody end not too far away. Nothing moved back toward Home Base, and picked up a nice set of Lady Viper Leathers from another dead Raider, but unfortunately attracted the attention of Bonnie and Clyde Parker who chased her down the street and around the corner where a Diamond City Guard, supported by a turret, and of course additional fire support from Nothing took them out. Ma Sumner and "Baby Face" Rosa along with his moll joined in the carnage and all of the feral ghoulsters met a gory fate. Nothing was very happy about the whole thing... As she was returning North, she encountered a Glowing Radroach who happened to be carrying a Legendary weapon of uncommon usefulness. She is now the proud owner of a "Violent Armor-Piercing Automatic Combat Rifle". In her culpable... er capable hands it has a fire rate of 90 and each round does 63 points of damage (damage + 25%). Not bad for level 13, eh? the next Radscorpion she runs into is going to get a surprise lead enema! Now all she wants is to fit it with a Suppressor, but that has to wait for Gun Nut perk 3. I hate those random northern radscorpion encounters. They can really mess up your day. |

Gotta withdraw Vince from this, neil. :) I've been playing Oblivion lately, and I just don't have the desire to play Fallout right now. |

I was just poking around the (Skyrim) Nexus and thought folks might be interested in this mod as an enhancement/starting point/alternative approach to the Death With Consequences style of play Death Is Highly Overrated Redone Returned to my lurking habits of late, work has been a little busier and includes many 10+ hour shifts on the new roster :( |

Nice! and lurk.. or post anytime! We always like to see friends! Edit: Neil... take a look, pretty much I think this is almost exactly what you mean with DWC... those thing's that are not.. are configurable! I know it's going IN my load order from now on... DA.. has some quirkiness that made me not use it all the time. Edited by Areial, Sep 12 2017, 07:12 AM.

Yeah, that looks really good, and with options to choose from yet. In the way I see it, you would have to do without the Amulet of Arkay and go back to the point of death to reclaim your gear. I'm guessing that mod isn't in SSE, and it looks like I'm going to have to go back to SLE regardless... That's a pity, SSE has it's good points. |

It actually is, that's where I first spotted it. The publishing author (tonycubed2) is the one who has published many difficulty mods, biggest being Sands of Time/Genesis (increased spawns) and others...worth looking at, many have been ported to special edition. Here is Death Is Highly Overrated |

Neil... way I see it, in normal play I might use the amulet of Arkay... in a DWC run, yep, do without and have to hoof it back to your gear . Top of the mountain, cause, frost trolls, ice wraiths, bears, wolves.. and those aren't even those added by IC! |

Main reason for suggesting is it provides a handy base line for everyone to start from....if we're doing modded runs anyways, then it is a quick and easy "get this mod, these settings, no amulet of arkay" base line with further rules added on top. Or ignore it and just use the description as a pre-done explanation of concept for any new participants. I think the original version (since these are "redone" I don't know if it's still in there) had an option to break an amulet of arkay in order to create a fixed respawn point, like Rick's Throat of the World run...except without the running to/up the mountain. Either way, I spend far too much time drifting around the nexus and I occasionally stumble across little gems like this one....now I wonder if anything similar has been made for fallout 4.... |

That's interesting, but I'll wait to see if he makes it per character, not across the board. ..no good for competition if you also run a RP character that might die. |

I installed it, but every time i start the game, the counter is st back to 0. It works for the current session. I you die, it shows you how many times, but next time you start the game will be back to 0. It's good start for something the DiD community will praise for years to come. |

The Saga of Big John's Auto Salvage (or a notable note of the notorious notoriety of nefariously unreliable game storage and mechanics.) Knight Rhys of the Brotherhood of Steel gave Nothing a mission: Clear out the site known as Big John's Auto Salvage. Nothing ventured to the site, and found it infested with nasty-tempered supermutants, and with some effort managed to rid the place of their foul presence. She ended the run by taking out the Supermutant Boss who was armed with a Shredding Mini-Gun. She'd found him in a trailer precariously perched atop a stack of shipping containers, and while she relaxed, I created a save game inside the trailer. Nothing could have gone back to Rhys at that point, but she was curious and wanted to have a look around. She'd been trying to scrounge up some aluminum that she needed to make a robot supplier. Anyway, she wandered into a building and found herself face to face with a stray supermutant... and he was so close she barely saw the reddish glow before he detonated the mini-nuke... sending her back to the trailer and a new "Side Bet". Once inside the trailer, she decided to place her weapons and gear into the Supermutant Boss' treasure chest. Those don't respawn, and she thought safer there than on the trailer floor where it might drop through. Nothing completed the Side Bet in spite of the mechanist's damnable robots (unfortunately in the process all of the Diamond City exterior guards were killed), and returned to Big John's the next morning. Because she'd just cleared the place yesterday, she just casually strolled in and headed for the trailer and her gear. Imagine her surprise at being greeted by the same mini-gun wielding Supermutant she had killed the day before... and he had all his buddies with him that she had also killed the day before. She ran like the wind, and even so barely managed to get out alive! Worried now, she went to Hangman's Alley and picked up some weapons and armor to use against the supermutants, since her usual gear was no being held hostage by the Supermutant Boss. Soon Nothing had returned to Big John's and cleared out the nasty green badasses. Happily she ran over to the trunk and found... none of her gear! It was all gone! Five pieces of Synth armor, all imbued with some Legendary capability, a two-shot missile launcher, a silenced .50 cal sniper rifle, and a two-shot Combat Rifle, all with Legendary capability as well, her favorite torn Red Dress, her lacy undies, all of it, GONE! Oh yes, and her wedding ring as well... She hunted everywhere for her gear, and managed to find Big John (first of my characters to ever do that), but not her stuff. So sadly she went, telling nobody goodbye... She just gathered up her sack, went straight round the corner, and never looked back. For all others who want to play Death With Consequences this way, I will tell you... LESSON LEARNED! Drop the stuff on the ground, forget that nice safe chest! |
