Problem is.... people like me who use a "real computer" are a vanishing breed. So - whatever works for millennials with phones is what the rest of us get. |

hmm I use a real PC.. but I will admit it look's like it would be easier to use with my phone, if I want to browse for new mods. |

Yup. I don't use a phone as anything but a phone. So - sucks to be me I guess. |

If they add new features that make it easier to navigate for all, then it can't help but be a good thing.. but I really liked the old look better.. and I got along on my phone.. the biggest problem was the categories list.. it was a pain in the ass to click on the right one. And it would be nice if they took into account the fact that some people might not really like that new look.. but I don't know that they could use both.. as an option. |

Doubtful. If you keep the "old" around, you're using twice as much space and bandwidth. Not really an option for Robin. I'm a vanishingly small minority. Once it happens.... I'll use it. But only if there's a mod I HAVE to have. Doesn't happen a lot any more.... The last three mods I bookmarked are all a quarter-gig each. Not everyone in the world has unlimited bw. I'm never going to have it - because 100 phones full time is not enough to get CenturyLink to upgrade. Period. So - I'll be asking daughter to get those for me in the next month or so. Again though, I point out that I live in an area with the cleanest air and water, few people (though they do drive me nuts when they're around), cheapest water and power in the country - and NO severe weather. Yes we have hard winters (thank the goddesses!) and fires - but we do NOT have hurricanes, tornadoes, or haboobs. So, yeah. Utah sucks hind tit over the "culture" and treatment of women - but I'm safe here. And comfortable. Tradeoffs.... Life is made of them. |

Eh.... yep. Now, from our house, we only see north and east - west is blocked by the ridge we built into, and south is blocked by the mountain itself though of course you do get a view above the peaks. Light pollution doesn't happen here. The renter places tend to have lights on all the time - but they're not.... problematic. Dark here.... is DARK. And the sky is - amazing - to behold. |

I've never been somewhere that has a clear sky like that. I've always lived with 20 miles of a city. |

Out.... has many benefits. At least for me. Of course I don't have to work. That means - I don't have to live somewhere that.... isn't.... simpatico - I guess you could say. Now, I have lived in cities. I didn't enjoy those times. I grew up a very small town girl - and that.... silence, that.... calm - well, I left the big city to regain it. I have met cities I found - livable: Seattle, Portland, Denver, Dallas (yeah - Dallas....), DC. I don't want to live there - not any of them. But I could - because I can live in a place without actually being "in it". I certainly hope I don't have to go back to a city - but it could happen. *shrug* Mostly.... I try to be flexible, because you just never know what life's going to hand you. The biggest issue with "out" is internet. |

I still have your USB.. I might be able to get those mod's for you. I have not had a chance to hit the PO when it was open.. we get enough packages they put them in a locker for us. I will try to get it back soon.. but I am opening most of this week, so the P.O, is closed when I get off. We are close enough to get good cell service.. but far enough out to not get land internet...it's coming, but not soon soon. |

Why would Robin change the site to be phone-friendly but not PC-friendly? It makes zero sense to do that with a PC mod site. |

Might be a pc mod site - but everyone uses phones for downloads any more. |

It's a demographic I'm seeing a lot of places lately. Part of that is because right now, phone companies really are giving people unlimited data - while many (especially local/regional) ISPs are not. Or if the ISPs do have unlimited, it's likely far more expensive than unlimited data with a phone carrier because of the phone wars. Edited by Serethil, Oct 11 2017, 09:02 PM.

I don't understand it. If they're using a phone on the cell network, the high data is going to run them up against the "invisible unlimited-data cap," and get throttled. And if they're using it on WiFi, they're still going to have to transfer the file to the computer (presumably by the same WiFi.) And all of that to squint at the internet through a window the size of a graham cracker (I just had one for a snack.) :) |

*shrug* I don't understand it either. But daughter downloads all the huge mods I ask her to get for me over her phone because it's faster and doesn't cause her bw issues with her "real" carrier. She says she has no effective data cap - invisible or otherwise - on her phone. Her regular ISP (for the computers in the house) has "unlimited" data but a cap of course - though it's VASTLY beyond mine - something like 500 gig a month. She has some local ISP where she's at in GA, and - hmm - I *think* she might be on T-Mobile, not positive about that. But the kicker is that her phone downloads about three times as fast as her computer. She transfers to a USB stick to send to me - has some app for that I think. I "cap" out at times, but between Michael and I we have 5 different errr thing's we can use as a"hot spot" to download. It's either the phone.. or Hughe's Net or Dish Sat, both of which allow you 20Gb period before you hit the cap and they slow you waaaay down. Now if I lived in town ( or about 5 miles closer) they have Optic or DSL.. with the college there in town.. it's cheap to get internet. Trade off... I'll take the cap on my phone. I do not by the way, directly download, I just use it as a hot spot. |

I've actually considered buying one of the vehicles that have wifi hot spots. I'd have to get our guys to let me bring it home as a test drive to see if it would really work here. It might not.... Pretty sure Brian would go for that - could go get it first thing in the morning, bring it over here, play with it to see, and get it back there the same day. Might see about that in the spring. After the truck's paid off. |

hmmm depend's on what the wifi run's off.. cell or sat.. Sat, would probably work, Cell I think would be the same as a cell phone. |
