1st Entry

Azura guides me and has never led me astray. I will follow the path she has laid out before me, and began my journey to Skyrim. The boat leaves in three days, and will carry me from Blacklight to Solitude - once there, I will have to trust my instincts, until Azura communes with me once more.

----------------------

2nd Entry

Filthy n'wah! It's a good thing that fetcher of a ship captain died in the crash or I would have killed him myself. I managed to find some meager supplies among the wreckage, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm stuck far out from the shore, atop an overturned ship keel. Azura, Boethia, and Mephala - I ask for your protection while I try to swim for solid ground.

----------------------

3rd Entry

Fortune and my patron Daedra allowed me to make shore on Skyrim's northern coast. The small town of Dawnstar was due south of the wreckage, and allowed me a place of refuge. All is not as it seems in this sleepy little town, though. The locals speak of terrible dreams - nightmares - that are plaguing all of them at once. A follower of Mara appears to have come in aid, but he knows not what is influencing this place.

I'd recognize the signs of Varemina anywhere. The sooner I leave this town, the better.

----------------------

4th Entry

Morthal is nothing but a filthy swamp, but at least it's quiet. I spent some coin on a room at the inn for the night, but it will be a miracle if I don't wind up slitting that Gods-awful bard's throat.

Azura, grant me the patience I need.

----------------------

5th Entry

Following my heart has brought me to Whiterun, but I know not what for. It's a much more agreeable climate down here in the south, so I think I'll stay put for a while, and try to earn some keep. I won't be able to live on what little I salvaged from ship for much longer.

Lovely, Kane! Just lovely. I do like the journal-entry style! Seems I never can write it myself, but it's wonderfully readable.

Thanks! I think I'm becoming a fan of the journal style for competitions. It makes it easy to summarize progress, if the character feels right - and Iriana does.

I can see how that would work, really. In fact, much better in some ways!

[And now I have "Ireland's Call" running through my head.... not a bad thing - maybe.]

Bandits are but playthings to the experienced fighter. They didn't stand a chance, and now I've got a decent amount of coin. Maybe I'll go in search of the treasure on this map I pulled off of the n'wah in Redoran's Retreat.

Hmm. I wonder why that caved was named after my Great house.

----------------------

7th Entry

Traveling further and further south, I've ended up in Falkreath. And here I thought Dawnstar was quaint - this town is nought but a few shacks and a great hall, replete with a slimy snake of a Jarl. I accepted his offer, but if he makes one too many ill comments, I might end up in The Pit myself.

Sindig was a fool to steal from a Daedra. I don't know much about Hircine, but I know enough to not steal from one of the Princes.

----------------------

8th Entry

The stag proved a challenging hunt, but I prevailed in the end. Lord Hircine has instructed me to hunt down and slay Sindig for his misdeeds.

I will do as he asks, for it can never be a bad thing to win the favor of the Daedra. The rest of the fools in this world can keep their Aedra - they have no idea the power and glory they are missing out on.

----------------------

9th Entry

It was not easy, but Sindig lies dead, broken. My Lord Hircine gifted me the foul creatures skin, rewoven and enchanted into formidable armor of Oblivion as reward for my duty. The Hide is a very nice piece, but would leave me rather exposed to the elements. I think I will continue to trust in my iron armors.

I've always been tempted by the journal style, and in fact I'm headed for something with Nothing that might be considered similar... although completely different. You know like identical twins who look nothing alike and have different mothers and fathers...

Anyway, I'm enjoying your tale! :)

Nice work. Short and to the point. A pleasure to read. Shipwreck start brings back memories. I too now wonder why the cave was named after your character’s great house. Never considered that before. Hmm. Makes you think.

I decided to rest for a few days before seeking out more of the Daedra's favor. The bumbling idiot that rules Falkreath allowed me to purchase some land to build a home upon. The lumber will be delivered tomorrow.

----------------------

11th Entry
Homesteading is hard work, but I'll need the space before long. Luckily, most supplies can be bought, rather than gathered.

Trying to win favor with the Falkreath smith, I searched for a dog that had been spotted on the road. It takes all my patience to not bring my greatsword down upon it's furry neck.

----------------------

12th Entry
Vampires and more vampires. Clavicus Vile certainly attracts dangerous followers. At least I shall be rid of the mutt soon - he talks incessantly.

Looks like we've got a long march in front of us. Pinemoon Cave is in the northern reaches of Haafingar, according to the Jarl's steward. And it will be cold.

----------------------

13th Entry
Thank the Sixteen that that debacle is over with. The wretched pup is back with it's master, and I have Vile's boom. It's a nice mask, if a bit unusual looking. I suspect it will keep people from approaching me.

All the better.

----------------------

14th Entry
A fellow dunmer and traveler on the road has told me where I might find the shrine to Azura. I had heard about it's greatness, but never witnessed it myself. He marked it down for me on my map, and wished me well.

I look forward to helping the mistress of Twilight - she holds a special place in my heart.

----------------------

15th Entry
Aranea spoke to me on Azura's behalf. I wished to have communed with the Goddess myself, but I shall always trust her guidance and decisions. Winterhold is not the place I seek.

Instead, I am to travel back to Falkreath. I should hire a personal carriage.

----------------------

16th Entry
I believe that Azura showed me a vision while I slept last night. A small icy cave, north of the College. Hither I shall go, but I have an air of uneasiness about me, now.

Something is amiss.

----------------------

17th Entry
I've no doubt that Hermaeus Mora lent me my dream vision. Azura would never lead me into the clutches of the Knower. He instructs me to find an Elder Scroll.

Now, that will be a true power to wield.

Iriana's Journal, volume II

1st Entry

With everything going on these days, I've decided to keep a more comprehensive journal.

It's been an . . . interesting week. I thought it enough to be tracking down items for both Azura and Mora, but the Daedra have far more influence in Skyrim than I expected. Illinalta's Deep and Malyn Varen were child's play to a properly trained warrior. The fool actually thought his Dremora and their fire spells would slow down the wrath of Azura's will. They fell quickly and so did he.

Afterwards, I made for Alftand ad the behest of Septimus. I could live a long, happy life if I never have to enter a Dwemer ruin again. The ones near Blacklight were bad enough, but I did not know of the Falmer before this week. Vile creatures - they made the Dwarven machinations seem like a training session. And what do I get more the trouble of finding a fabled Scroll? Blood collection.

With no idea of where to go after, I decided to return to Dawnstar. I knew upon my arrival after the shipwreck that Vaermina was influencing the town in some way, but I was ill-prepared at the time to deal with much of anything. To my surprise, a follower of Dagon was also making himself known in Dawnstar. His task was just as wearisome as Mora's. Casimir assisted me in the Tower of Dawn, but in the end he tried to defy Vaermina. When will these fools learn? His blood yet stains my greatsword.

2nd Entry

Morthal held a Keeper of the Razor pieces, so my journey took me there next. A small bit of gold was all it took to win the shard, which was fine with me. I didn't like the idea of hiding a murder in the small village. Along the way, I discovered the Beacon of Meridia, stashed away on a thieves chest. Her voice is loud and commanding, so I thought it unwise to ignore.

I stopped in Solitude for supplies, and before I knew it I was face to face with Sheogorath. The Prince of Madness is never to be trifled with, so I went along with his musings. Thank the Sixteen I had not been alive in the days of the Mad King. Skyrim must have been even more insufferable than it already is with that loon ruling it.

His trial was less challenging, but still fruitful. Wabbajack is a powerful tool, and allowed me to make quick work of the evils within in Meridia's Temple. Malkoran and his shade, though, finally provided a worthy challenge. I now see that I have much to learn and improve. Revelations such as that sometimes require a stiff drink, so I stopped by the inn at Dragon bridge for a mead and some food supplies.

I'll never join a drinking contest again.

Oh, LOVING it Kane! She gets around, that girl.
She does, but its taking a lot longer than it seems by her entries. The darker nights of CoT, Campfire, and RND make it so that she is always stopping for supplies and to camp out. Plus, returning to Lakeview and working on it as well.

3rd Entry

After a a merry dance around Skyrim, I now hold the Rose of Sanguine. I've never been one for using magicks, but I cannot deny the usefulness of having a Dremora Lord on standby. Next week, I head back Markarth. I could feel the dark influence of the Daedra flowing through the City of Stone. I'm almost certain that Molag Bal and Namira are up to something there. In the meantime, though, Lakeview needs an expansion for all the artifacts I need to display. Tomorrow I think will be a good time to start the armory - if I can find enough supplies, that is. Maybe I will make a trip to Riverwood.

I could use a steward, and Faendal does owe me a favor.

The armory is complete, and Faendal is my steward. The Bosmer isn't much good in a fight, but he manages the estate well - he even managed to find me a carriage driver. Markarth will wait, though, I've decided. It's been a long time since I ran into that Afflicted refugee and I feel as if the journey to the Shrine of Peryite is more pressing to me. I'll gather a few supplies, and take the carriage to Dragon bridge. I don't know where the Shrine is, save for "in the Reach" so I will have to seek it on the way to Markarth.

Faendal is tasked with furnishing the armory while I am away. Hopefully, he proves just as useful as he has thus far. By Azura, I hope the estate doesn't get waylaid by bandits, though. I may have armored him and supplied a sharp sword, but his prized bow will be useless in the tight spaces around the house.

I'd hate to have to search for another steward.

If I had know that Kesh was so close to Karthwasten, I'd have simply taken the carriage to that small "town". Lady Luck shone down on me anyway, though. By the time I found the Shrine to Peryite, I had also inadvertently collected all of the necessary ingredients for Kesh's incense. The Taskmaster blessed me with his communal, and bade me to venture into the depths of nearby Bthardamz. Orchendor, his shepherd, has lost his way and was in need of cleansing.

It was no easy task, but I did not fail the Lord Peryite. Orchendor lies sundered, and I have a powerful shield strapped to my back. It's a pity that I'll never use it.

Afterwards, I journeyed once more to Markarth (completely sober this time), and had barely set foot in the gate when I found some feckless Vigilant of Stendar waylaying people outside of an abandoned house. I could feel the dark presence of Molag Bal the moment I stepped inside the abode. Tyranus fell quickly upon Bal's command, and soon after I was traveling north in search of a priest of Boethiah.

But for now, I am to sleep. Dawn will usher my pursuit of him into Deepwood Redoubt.
