Weeellll.... we'll see. I'm actually not sure just at this point. She says:
I have taken that to mean that she can Shout, and Merin is the other. We will see.... |

Interlude: Tadric meets a dragon Tad had been moving about the old dragon-heights. They made his skin crawl, but - it needed doing. Something was moving, and it was dragon-born. So those old heights, most with word-walls looming - those were important. He got itchier and itchier between his shoulder-blades the more of them he looked over. The latest one was Lost Tongue Overlook. And.... at that old word wall - there was a.... live?.... dragon. Instead of attempting to annihilate Tad, the dragon looked down at him, and whispered into his mind “Child of ours.... your rede is set. A false Tongue rises, and your fate is met. Keep true to life, keep heart in love. And ever consider what your fate will prove.” At that, the dragon rose, spread its wings and - dissipated - as if it had never been.... Tadric didn’t know what all that meant - not for sure. But he did know that - it proved his feeling that Skyrim itself was in deep trouble. |

Chapter 7: Tadric goes to High Hrothgar After returning to Morthal to find the family for the most part gone to the old Greybeard monastery atop the Throat of the World, Tad took a day to rest, get rid of the shimblenidders the dragon heights caused him, eat food he didn’t throw together himself - and do laundry. If there was one thing he really disliked, it was dirty clothing. And then he went looking for Merin - only to remember she had gone with Vartain and Tiercel, and his parents. Now, that was very strange, he thought. He wondered why he hadn’t thought it strange when it first came up - but now it was even more than strange, and Tad decided to head for High Hrothgar the next morning. It was an easy trip from Morthal to Ivarstead, due to the carriage system. He blessed Verinne for setting it up! He brought Vinthar along tied to the backboard; he might not need a horse, but who could know ahead of time? He rode Vinthar up the Seven Thousand Steps, counting as he rode; he was pretty sure he wasn’t going to arrive at seven thousand by the time he got to the monastery but that was fine - it was a nice myth, if nothing else. Reaching the last steps, Tad dismounted, ground-tied his horse, and walked up to the doors, pushing them open, and then entering the cool darkness within. Edited by Serethil, Jan 13 2018, 07:35 PM.

Chapter 8: Not all that hospitable after all.... “And who might you be?” The male voice was youngish, but cold and snide. Tadric came to a stop just at the edge where shadow became a bit brighter. “I’m Tadric Ravenwing. My parents are here somewhere, and a cousin, not to mention the High King and my aunt, his wife.” “Were you invited here by the Master?” “No. The hall here has long known my family though - since my great-granddam was the Last Dragonborn. And who might you be to ask me anyway?” “I am the Master’s assistant, Gelvan. If she has not bid you here....” His voice faded as Tad walked right past him into the light of the larger room ahead. There he found a woman dressed as a Greybeard. And those of his family as he’d detailed to Gelvan. Merin turned to him, her face lighting into cheer. “Tad! I’m so glad you’ve come!” The Master, as he assumed the woman in Greybeard’s robes to be, glanced at him, a dagger of a look. He walked to stand between his aunt and his mother, with the King and Melki flanking their wives like bookends. Merin edged back from the Master so that she was standing nearer to the Ravenwings and the High King than to the woman in Greybeard’s robes. “Regardless that you have taken the title, you would need to explain to us where you learned the Thu’um before we could agree to leave Merin with you. And you have yet to tell us why you wrote to Serana....” Tiercel’s tone was cool but firm, and it was apparent to Tadric that some argument had been in process. The Master’s eyes flashed in anger. “I am not required to provide any information to any of you. If the girl chooses to ignore my offer, well, then you may all leave immediately! Serana was the only one I invited here.” Merin said softly, “I don’t think I want to stay here. I’ll go home with my family I believe.” “Gelvan, show these people out. Immediately.” “Oh no. We will gather our belongings first, thank you,” Vartain said, already on his way to the area where they’d slept, and where they’d left their luggage when Gelvan had escorted them into the hall earlier. “Come along, Melki and Tadric. Tier, Serana - take Merin outside. We’ll be out with the gear shortly.” The two women and Merin hurried out into the cold and blowing snow. None of them looked back at either the Master or Gelvan. Within just a few minutes, the men joined them, laden with baggage. “I think.... we should go up to Paar’s Aerie. I’m not - feeling - good about this at all,” Tiercel looked around soberly. “Good thought!” Var began to pass luggage around. “Sir. Just let me sling it all on Vinthar. That way no one needs to carry any of it.” So that was what they did. Then with Tadric at tail, leading his horse, they all set off for the pinnacle of the Throat of the World - Paarthurnax’s Aerie, and the shrine to Talos within the arms of the old word wall. |

Heh. No SHIT Sherlock! Yeah.... I didn't know where all that was going.... until it got there. So - yep. Tad's had warnings.... and so has Serana, plus Melki's been uncomfortable but didn't know why or what to say to whom about it. So, here we are again, with the Ravenwings in the thick of whatever's zeroing in on Skyrim. I can hardly wait to find out! |

Great read Sere! I want to learn more about this "Master." We have her self told history, but what is the real story? Obviously power hungry, wanting to use The Voice for her own gain...but to what end? Does she have any powers of her own? I wouldn't think pissing off the High King and family would be a great strategy! I can't wait for more  |

Thanks, Lappy! She hasn't been very forthcoming about things.... but I have the definite impression that she had no clue there WAS a High King! |
