I figured that it might be best for a "picture" section. That way if anyone need's some helpful tips with cover art or whatever it's easier to fine.. leaving the other thread for "written" stuff, links and what not.

Todays.. picture.. The tutorial of the day was "double exposure".. but I didn't follow it exactly..

I prefer another picture #2 but it isn't the one i used for the main picture.

This is the one I like the best

This is what the double exposure is supposed to look at.. only with the background showing through more

I'm assuming you want honest feedback, and constructive criticism is acceptable, eh?

If we number them top to bottom, I like number two the best. The darkness provides more contrast to my old eyes. Number one is my second choice, and sorry, but numbers three and four don't even get honorable mention... Not meaning to be critical, but the horse in those two is simply lost in the bushes and lacking definition.

Just my personal take on it, of course.

They all showcase a good talent though... just some are (to me) gooderer than others...

Getting closer to what I really want! I haven't found a GIMP tutorial for a "water" horse ( or other animal ).. but the more I learn, the closer I am.. even if I am following along with the Tutorials 1/2 the time

Yes, I actually do... It's a learning thing.. so criticism is a good thing.

#4 is mostly for the "layer" practicing. My husband said the same thing about #3...only he said it looked like a bloob...

Yes, come to think of it, I definitely see a bloob in that one... ;)

Just as a side note (while trying to be helpful), shape is important, but it is shadow that gives us definition. Anything presented without shadows is going to appear as a "bloob".

Got'cha! I have an issue with shadows.. I keep forgetting to add them before merging the layers.. and you can't add them after. I have a couple step by step's to follow, but they are all the simpler things I need to work on the Vingettes!

These are just some basic "word" + functions.. seeing what I could do from memory without the step by step tutorials to turn to. So a lot of it is using the different functions, then layering them or adding two thing's together after layering something. No real pictures, it was easier using words.

This is a... "hot mess"... but I wanted to practice layering, importing different photos.. and a couple other functions.. with no tutorial guide.. and yep.. it IS based off of that pendant.. not as well executed! 1st try though!

So Michael is working.. ( boredom.. he's got an e-val coming up next week ) and that mean's i get to spen half my day off on the phone ( yea me.. ) So.. this is what I worked on, since I can't read, can't really play or can but then cant' hear what's going on.

7 layers: 3 fire, 4 of the horse.. I have not yet got the translucence down for the horse with enough definition, but I am getting there! a white horse does NOT help!

Thanks Sis! that is waaaaaay more elaborate than I want to go, but it's all a 'learning' process.

OK.. this one is in a straight line to what I want, it's a matter of getting all the layers in the right place.. the right hmmm depth of color.. and NOT being heavy-handed <sigh> Practice.. practice.. practice!!
