Neil, every gal knows they can change their "look" on a whim. Change that hair color and then throw a fit at the sculpter and make her change it back!

man, I dunno... Bretony went into Dimwitty crypt at level 20, and those vampires in there are tough SOBs. She got nailed a couple of times before we got into the hang of how it's going to have to be done... "Nailed" being a most appropriate term, cuz the vamps were one-shotting her with crossbows.

Naturally, that's what test characters are for, and I think we have a worlking system now though. Truth is, I'd forgotten how tough those vamps really are so I didn't take it seriously enough at first.

At least now I know what the competition Bretony is going to need to survive... I also need to import a few mini-nukes... ;)

Courier runs up to Bretony, "I've been looking for you. Let's see here I have something for you. That's it got to go."

Bretony, "WAIT, what about the launcher."

Courier, "Nope. Sorry, nothing!"

Oh, it's not unexpected... I just needed a kick in the pants to give me an altitude adjustment. ;)

There were also things that were outside the normal sphere of my thought besides tough vamps. One of Bretony's biggest problems for instance was not being able to see the vampires or their minions in the general darkness of that cave. Also, I discovered that she had to use candelight, just to avoid getting turned around in the dark, even though it messed with her sneak a bit. Without Aura Whisper she would have been hopelessly outclassed.

Magelight > Candlelight. Cast away from the user, but provides a point of reference. Also, if you can find the torch that stays lit on the ground you can use that instead of magelight. Very handy when places are significantly dark than Vanlla Skyrim.

I also like to use a conjured wolf with magelight on it because they'll go to the mobs and light 'em up for you. :D

I can conjure up a comp page if you give me some time. It should be ready in... 1 hour or less.

I always forget about the magelight in/on a mob or conjure trick. I don't multitask well ;)

I am starting to get really cranked up for this competition :) A decision has been made as to who I will run, and it's a stunner! Not really, but that sounds so much more dramatic :D :tes:

I may rethink the skills as well... Davins happy with what he's using, so I may roll a different character, but add in Better Vamps if I do.

Edit: pick up conjuration, I'll look at the skills...

I often use magelight on conjured critters and foes (sometimes on followers and my horse too), but that doesn't work out so well when you don't want the other guys to know you're there.

You can cast magelight on a vampire, but by the time they quit searching for you, the magelight is out anyway. I much prefer Aura Whisper, but it won't help you find your way back to the exit if you have to run for your life.

When playing on Master, if the vampires find out you're there too soon, you are very quickly dead... it's not a very forgiving way to play, and there's just no tolerance for mistakes.

Can't you use Clairvoyance to find the exit? Or is that disallowed in comps?

I don't think it's disallowed... I think.

I never heard of it being disallowed, but I'm not certain how well it would work out. You'd have to stop running to use it, and then when you started running, it wouldn't show you the stumbling blocks til you stopped again... and vampires are fast when they're chasing you... and their crossbow bolts are even faster...

Clairvoyance can be cast while moving. However, Clairvoyance provides the shortest path to ones quest objective. One would have to a) have a quest objective that is not within the dungeon b) realize that if there is an entrance and a back entrance Clairvoyance will point to the shortest path not necessarily the safest path. c) It only lasts for the time channeled and quickly vanishes.

In all the time I've ever played Skyrim I've never actually used Clairvoyance after initially fiddling with it.
