If I was by myself I would, but I open the store tomorrow, then I have Tues and Wed off. Michael has his Nurology appt Tues... so I had yo get him today.

I can read while riding, but the bouncing makes texting...not fun... same with the forum. I backspace and fix stuff as much as go forward.

Edit: I close actually...<sigh>

I just can't do it. Reading in a moving vehicle.... plus the vertigo.... you don't EVEN want to know.

When I was a little kid, every time I fell asleep in a moving vehicle, I woke up bouncing off the dashboard or the back of the front seats because whichever parent was driving would nod off and ram something. I haven't been able to sleep in a moving vehicle since I was 7.

Sure made for long three-day greyhound trips, eh? ;)

My vote is for a Dawnguard run. I've been toying with the idea of trying to play a mage again, and I might just bundle it up with being an dark vampire mage.

1* Do we want to go "traditional" DiD: Your character dies, you start completely over from scratch? Nah

2* Do we want to "our Tradition" DiD: start from the Helgen Exit? Yah

3* Do we want to Start from XXX point? See #2

4* What kind of Competiton do we want, Mod's / No-Mods ( advantage/ disadvantage)? Mods

5* Everyone on one "difficulty" or use a Multiplier? Multiplier

6* Specific goal or quest-line or a treasure hunt ? Eggs, cuz dey are purty

7* Which Quest-line? Dawnguard

8* What are we hunting? ( specific named items or general list of things)? Eggs

9* What are our rules for this round.. ? Rools? there are no rools there is only FUN (will depend on the round)

What I am seeing so Far:
1-3
*We do not want a Cart Ride start... So an Alternate start ( x-box or ps3 can pre-start then to 1st save point inside the first tower )

* Alternate Start ( unbound or LaL ) which starts? ( depends on round perhaps.. )

4: Seem's we want mods so far... Advantage/ Disadvantage list would be a must!

5; So far majority is in favor of a Difficulty Multiplier

6, 7 & 8: we can do a poll vote, but it look's like Dawnguard Quest-line.. with a mini-game either while we hash out the details and rules... or a pause around Easter for an Easter Egg Hunt ( or both )

****

Some suggestions:

**A Death with Consequences Save point,
Spoiler: click to toggle

** Multiplier:
Spoiler: click to toggle

Skills & Time
Spoiler: click to toggle

Anyway these are my opinions.. y'all have some to..voice them please!

Not to be that guy....but zero x anything = 0

otherwise, seems to all be about right....wouldn't mind a dawnguard run, opportunity to go for a sneak illusionist/destruction build for the good guys and a standard paladin for the nasty vampire hunters

question; do vamps get immunity to illusions the same as draugr? They're undead, but i've never tried it before...

only wrinkle....the death with consequences save...would we also be ditching all worn/held gear? because purposely rushing certain things to be well set at the level 10 mark would be a possibility some might take.

I'd also say if doing the dawnguard line....no dawnguard Alternate Start....takes away the trial of getting there and they hand you free stuff (crossbows have very high base damage, if slow reload)

I'm all in for a Dawnguard run! A mage it will be; naked or armored to be decided. Due to the dangers of Dawnguard, a full set of skills/crafts would be very helpful. No companions except questing ones

No cart ride, mods good, multiplier for difficulty and I want the time allowed to be as long as possible :)

The "dealth alternative" or straight DiD I'll leave up to the rest of you. My lack of conviction about this is surely driven from my eagerness to play and my blissfully terrible memory that has wiped away some of the pain of past DiD losses. Except for the Naked Nord ordeal. That left a mark ;)

Novice woulld be the base line... before it was X 0.25, which leads to getting less points than you actually earned.

With a Dawnguard run, I would push for no Dawnguard start but also no start that puts you IN the Rift....except left for dead.

Imo if a person pushes to acquire a particular set of armor or weapons, than they can keep them if they have them at save. One could even chase butterflies and blue mountain flowers to buy enough to craft their stuff... which is what ill do... craft that is.

To me that goes with people's play style, as a first run in a while... more freedom is better than a very restrictive suicide run.

Your suggestions sound great to me Areial, although Poncho has a point regarding "0"... I just took it that novice and adept were the same, but if you want novice to be more penalized you could make it times "0.9" or "0.75" or something... which BTW, I think would be fair cuz what's easier than Novice?

Also, I definitely think we should get our choice of skills because some of us (myself included) are having visions of a dawnguard questline with some variety of a mage... and that's hard enough with full options for skills, eh?

Ok... just slap me upside the head with a fry pan... what I get with 5 hrs sleep after driving for 14...or 15... gah... but yeah novice should be less than apprentice and Adept.

Yeah... I like the "play it my way" for this first round. I'm thinking of a particular skill set myself.... using Restoration, 1h, heavy ( Dawnguard armor, which is one of the few vanilla that I can stand) , destruction ( fire mostly) block when not using a spell and Archery. .. sneak, speech and lockpoicking, but no perks in those... Smithing, but probably only the "Steel" tree using SkyPe...maybe a few points in Alchemy early... for the money and when ingredients are there... cure Disease...but no perks.

OK.. so, how about this as a Multiplier

Novice............1
Apprentice......1.5
Adept..............2
Expert.............2.5
Master............3
Legendary.......3.5

Time... I have looked at various different sites and looked at how much time people said they took running DG... I think the 7 hr's is kinda on the short side.. and probably a mid to high level character.. So we need to come up with a good time span.. is 40 hr's enough to do all the quests.. and side quests.. and perhaps some additional .. related to Vampires quests.. Like killing Movarth.. or would 50 or 60 be better?

As I will play on Adept.. cause that's the way I roll.. and I hate the crafting necessary to play much higher. 40 hr's would be enough.. more than enough. I don't think all those people that did the line in less than 15 hrs had to worry about dying.

If we are going to do DG, then I will make up a list of quests, side-quests, and unique items and get a points value for scoring.

Tomorrow I am again on and off... as Micheal has his Neurology... and 15 more letters appointment... but I have the next day off.. so time.. and I am flustrated with GIMP.. I am not all that good at this kinda thing and I need a break.

.

For myself, when I play Skyrim, I like to play... meaning I don't really want to feel all that rushed. In that line of thought, then I think that 50 or 60 hours is better than 40, of course that's just me.

I'm all for easing back into the comp with the 50 or 60 hours. Preferably 60 because I like to take things nice and slow. ;)

We all know how slowly I play, so longer is better for me also!

So 60 hrs is good...

over 3 or 4 weeks??

Wow. I was just thumbing back through the thread from our last DG comp. (almost two years ago!) for nostalgia purposes (first comp. I ever finished) and we had 100 hours set for it! :ohno:

Boy that was a fun round, too. First time we did the random skills, and there was no archery!
