I think I'm going to call it a day with this competition...
Walked out of the nightgate inn and game was a bit laggy....it happens, potato pc....carried on down the road and as I was passing silverdrift lair or wherever those bandits hide out I was beset by 2 wolves, 2 bandits (1 of them an archer) and a reaver thug. The reaver was clearly out of my range to deal with, especially with arrows getting stuck in me and he moved quicker than me....sprinted away for 2 seconds then reverted to standard trot (ran out of stamina) and he had caught me within a second, hit in the back twice and I was dead.
Dang, that's tough luck. Added you to the graveyard.

Polly was calling the place worse names than "Ratballs" before she got done in there. ;)

I like Raldbthar with an armored fighter-type. It's harder with a mage, because you have to put so much development into magicka and magic schools. And Polly is a specialized mage, with nearly everything thrown into Conjuration, Destruction, and Archery. She does no smithing other than house-building, even though she wears armor.

She's gradually developing her Enchanting, so eventually her enchantments will strengthen her unimproved armor.

But, in the meantime, the automatons are a handful.

Yeah they would be!!

My new Controller is ready for pick-up tomorrow.. after work of course! So I'll start my run Saturday.. I am debating on dropping down to Apprentice or novice.. I know I haven't enough time to finish, but at that lower of Difficulty, I might actually get somewhere...

I posted a new video that DiD players might want to watch... It's in the Skyrim Videos thread.

EDIT: glargg, I meant to mention that you might like the music track.

Harkon was defeated and Serana dismissed and headed to Fort Dawnguard (I didn't know if I could keep her as a follower). Lexi wanted to finish the Aetherium quest, so it was off to Ratsballs and then The Aetherium Forge. It was a very bittersweet time for Lexi and myself; happy to help out Katria, but sad to see her for the last time. After Katria faded away, and her Dremora long since returned to Oblivion Lexi was alone in that Dwarven chamber...and both of us felt the deep pang of loneliness. I like Katria, and wouldn't mind her as a follower if that was an option.

Now its some loose ends to tidy up, maybe see if there are some other radiants from the Fort Dawnguard crew. I don't think I've ever been back to the fort after killing Harkon, so we'll see what's up there. We've done 11 out of 12 DG main quests, and that won't change. The recruit the dude quest from the charmed Vigilants got borked and he went aggro. I just didn't want to mess with it and wrote that one off. The Soul Cairn could use some more exploring too. That place creeps me out, and don't know all the dangers there, so we did our thing and got out of there...with the exception of soul husk harvesting, that we did like crazy :)

You can keep Serana if you want her as a follower. You can also try to convince her to get cured. I've never done either, being perfectly happy to ignore her forever after the DLC is done. The last thing I do in the DLC is go back to the Soul Cairn and tell Valerica that Harkon is dead.

Sere,

I should have been clearer in my meaning; I was unclear as to whether I could keep Serana as per the rules of this competition. I actually get along okay with Serana...it's just that weird things happen when she's around...or disappears ;)

It's all good. Lexi has her Dremora and Rayya seems to be jonesing for an adventure, so we'll see how the next 7 hours plays out.

We never really had a follow through on Followers... I had proposed only Faction followers.. which would include Seana.. but it never went further really than bringing it up. But the rule actually read's you can have one Human Follower and one dog follower.. .. As you can have Elves.. any round.. or Trolls this round, I would interpret "human" and "dog" loosely.

Hmmm. But Serana's not human, she's undead (unless the character convinces her to be cured) - so I do get why there was a question.

For me the question involved the line in the rules about quest companions and taking them to their destination with minimal side trips, etc. I assumed this was to prevent a lower level player from getting an essential follower and using that for an advantage and wouldn't really apply to Serana at Lexi's stage in the competition. But, with me being unclear about this, and it really not being a big deal for Lexi, Serana was dismissed. :tes:

Edited to add  :tes: :)

We should probably have a discussion regarding followers sometime before the next competition. As I recall, the main reason no followers was initially implemented was to ensure that the player not the follower was doing the heavy lifting. I'm unsure how Serana fits into that job description, because I think it depends in part whether the follower levels with the player or is substantially higher level than a low-level character at first contact.

Well, not to mention that if you're doing a DG comp.... you have NO choice but to deal with Serana. And I have NO idea what the leveling setup is with her.

The UESP says Serana levels at PC x 1 with the range being 12 to 50... so Serana's minimum level is 12.

I never had looked at it.... I suppose if you do DG at the moment Durak tags you, that's Serana at 12?
