Withdrawing Dhark from the comp. Apparently if I try to play Skyrim it stops my Fallout download. Dhark has only done the meet Isran quest and was going to go to Dimhollow soon, so my score would essentially be zero.

Together with her Vampire Companion, Polly Fonix rescued a Moth Priest who had been kidnapped by vampires.

At the urging of a strange voice in her head, Polly has visited with a crazy old hermit in a cave on an island north of Winterhold. He made no sense at all, but he gave her a couple of dwemer objects. One of them, a sphere, she immediately recognized as a key to a mechanism she'd seen deep in Raldbthar. The other had something to do with Elder Scrolls, which piqued her interest; perhaps a second Scroll would be helpful in dealing with the vampires...

...So she made her way to Raldbthar, and from there, she got access to a jaw-dropping cavern, which had to be the fabled Blackreach. And there she found the Scroll.

No chance in Oblivion that she's going to trek back to that old hermit's cave with his cube. Nope. Cold, wet, nasty, not to mention he's a crazy old coot. Polly's heading back to Fort Dawnguard, to see the Moth Man...who is, come to think of it, almost as crazy as the hermit...

Sounds like she is having quite the adventure! I love exploring Blackreach.

Yeah, we're just in it for the adventure. I seriously doubt that I'll have time to complete the quest line, let alone finish side quests. Time is always the issue.

You know you can set Skyrim to allow downloads when being played, right? In fact, you can do that with any game in your steam library.

Yep I know, but that changes the download time from only 11 more hours to several days. Why it does that I don't know, because Skyrim shouldn't be using any bandwidth. Perhaps it has to do with tracking cheezements or sumpin'

It took me about 10 minutes to download New Vegas. I was pleasantly surprised that I could jump into it that quickly.

Found out that the increase in time to download wasn't because I launched Skyrim, but because STEAM was doing a client download at the same time! :ugh:

Um. But I can (on my CRAP internet) get a steam client download in about 5 seconds....

Not sure to what you're referring to Sere. My steam client download wasn't all that big and didn't take that much time, BUT it happened right when I was launching Skyrim and saw a drop in download speed for Fallout. I, of course, didn't know it was a Steam Client update mucking with my Fallout download until I got the Restart Steam Client message. Otherwise steam updates are usually benign, it was just Murphy timing when it happened. I am now able to play Skyrim while finishing my Fallout download without any adverse affect to my download speed. ;)

What I meant was client updates aren't very big, don't take any time at all, and shouldn't have impacted your download. In fact.... I'm beginning to think that my satband may be better than whatever your ISP is....

And here I am, with a crappy internet that takes days to download anything (200 kb/s. It's really crappy. It's either that or 1/2 mb/s but it goes down for 20 minutes every half an hour).

So, Harkon is dead, and they all lived happily ever after. Polly Fonix and Serana depart for Fort Dawnguard.

I'm going to stop now. I'm not going to bother adding up my score, because, playing at low difficulty, my score would never have been competitive anyway. It was never about the score.

The one big problem with competition, for me, is the rush to completion. I feel as if I'm forced to "stick to the schedule." The game becomes linear and "gamey." It's taken about 50 hours to run through to this point, and I feel that's far short of what the story actually deserves.

I've played through the Dawnguard main quest several times before, so I don't mind having rushed it this time, but I don't want to "ruin" the Dawnguard side quests, some of which I barely remember.

I'm going to wait a bit (play something else for a while), then restart from the beginning, and play through this story the way I want to play it, taking my time, and "getting into character." For what it's worth, I found some things to like about Serana in this playthrough, and I'd like to explore that with a deeper character.

For anybody still in the competition, "Fight well" and good luck. :thumb:

I think it was supposed to run from March 15 to April 15. I guess everybody is either dead, finished, or gave up. I'm sort of a mix of the last two. :)
