My Controller is toast... so while I am going to try and play when I get a new one, it's coming in the mail.. so I won't have any updates until then.. and I know I won't get to far... I bought one at Wal-Mart, but it wouldn't work with my PC, no matter what I tried from the manufacturer's website. The Two game stores in town did not have any for PC and no adapters.

I tried using the keyboard, but I can't keep what I am supposed to use in my head.. I can for DA, but those have stop/action.

That's too bad. You'd think that in a college town, there would be some of everything!

I think that is the problem.. Wal-mart is re-doing the store, so it's a chaotic mess... The Game Stop here sell's more games than accessories.. and the other store pricey so I try not to go there anyway. But we just had an "inservice" week, where a lot of FFA students from high schools all over came for lectures, to see the A & M program at Tarlton and for shows.. and well the whole town is low on .. eveyrthing. We waited an hour for our breakfast this morning.. after waiting for 1/2 an hour to be seated.. it was not a fun day in town.

Ewww. Um. Are you not on amazon prime? I get stuff two day from them - if I ordered yesterday or today, I'd have it Monday, latest Tuesday.

We don't have Prime no.. so it's regular shipping. I ordered a couple thing's from Wal-mart.com.. and they all came out to less than what I would pay for just the Controller through Amazon.. mostly due to the shipping costs. Actually it's all "Site-to-Store" and may get here before the estimated shipping date, generally does.

Eh, well, next time you need something fast, let me know. I'll order it shipped to you two-day. I - refuse to use walmart, they just don't get it.... I ordered three items at the same time on a Thursday; they said they'd be here on Tuesday. Monday one showed up, Tuesday one showed up, Wednesday the other one came. SO not cool. And no, I don't use ship to store - because that's an 80 mile round trip which costs me time, aggravation AND money for fuel.

LoL... I can do that.. I have no problems with going to the store, as it is less than 1/2 a mile from my work. Now if I didn't have to go into town 5 days a week.. 6 if I am doing laundry, then I probably would not find it amusing.

Yeah, I know you have to be there at least 5 days out of 7. But making a stop at wally world when all you want to do is GO HOME....

So. Just tell me what to order, and I'll take care of the "get it to you fast" part. And a check is fine, I don't really need to worry about the money.

My issue with checks (over the years mostly wife-induced) "How can I be broke? I STILL have checks left..." :D

Heh. Yeah. Long time good joke....

In the last year, we've written exactly ONE check. Now - we use the checking account regularly - but.... y'know.... there are online ways.... And that's what happens.

I use the credit union's billpay setup for nearly everything. I pay the credit cards on their sites. The one check was to a local retailer - husband did that for whatever reason rather than using the credit card.

The money gets deposited to the accounts, both from NV and from SSA. And from there I pay the bills, either using billpay or relevant websites.

If I die tomorrow, I don't know how husband will manage.... because he actually has NO CLUE. And I have tried to explain to him.... but - he just doesn't get it. Good thing I'm likely going to be the last person standing....

[Um. Exactly HOW does "Art Vandelay's" get turned into "Art Vandelay's"????? Yeah. That's what happened, and why I edited.... Um.... and it did it again.... HOLY SHIT - the forum is possessed.... Seriously - I input "C U ' s - eh without the spaces in between.... No - I am NOT smoking something.... KANE!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!!!

And who the hell is Art Vandelay, and why do I care anyway????]

I do now, but in the past we had a problem with a Land Lord not cashing his rent check.. for almost a month, which made keeping track of the money just that much more difficult for two people.. that don't always reside in the same... place.. town, state.

$900 not going through when you think it already has.. is a problem. Now we have two accounts, one that I pay bills out of and another that he uses, I just transfer the money to it, so that he doesn't have to ask me all the time how much is in the account and what has cleared.

I've never tried DiD before, and since I've got a lot of time on my hands right now, I thought I'd give it a try.

I created Mathias, a middle aged, balding Bosmer. He was a smith back home, so he was a bit stouter than your average elf. He caught a break shortly after getting out of Helgen, when he came across the aftermath of a battle between a Stormcloak, and a Thalmor patrol. He was able to loot a full set of Elven armor before he ever got to Riverwood!

He quickly fell in with a fellow elf as a follower. They made a quick trip over to Ebershard mine to gain some valuable loot, ore, and experience, before finally heading towards Whiterun.

Mathias wanted to start plying his trade when he got to the big city, so along the way, he spent several hours combing the hills mining various ore pockets he discovered. He also killed a bunch of wolves for their pelts.

Once in Whiterun, he used all the ore he had mined, as well as all he could buy to earn valuable experience, as well as much needed coin! The Jarl wanted him to run an errand, but before doing that, he and his follower headed north of Whiterun to look for a mine he had heard some bandits were occupying.

At that point, he was up to level 8, and had archery skill of 30, and single handed in the high 20's. He found the mine, at the end of a stream, and easily picked of the two bandits outside with a single arrow each from hiding!

Emboldened by his success, he and his follower entered the mine! The first bandit they discovered was also sniped with one hit. As they cautiously entered the main chamber of the mine, they heard several voices. Mathias decided to try to take out the leader first, since he was farthest away, and appeared the toughest!

He dipped his steel tipped arrow in a weak poison he had looted, as extra insurance, then carefully drew back his Imperial bow from his hiding spot. The arrow struck true, but even with the 2x bonus for a sneak attack, the health of what he now saw was a Bandit Chief only dropped by about 20%! He hadn't expected a 1 shot kill, but the lack of damage shook him a bit. He quickly tried to get a second shot, but missed in his haste!

By now, the other two bandits were alerted to his presence, and charged up the ramp toward him! He backed into the corner, figuring that as they engaged his follower, he could pick them off with arrows!

Alas, now that the sneak bonus wasn't in effect, his arrows did little to slow the charging bandit mage, and her Orc companion! They ran right past him, and up the mine shaft to attack his follower. He managed to get one shot into the back of the Orc, before the Bandit Chief was upon him!

Mathias switched to a steel axe, and struck desperately at the Bandit Chief, but it was obvious that his health was going down much more quickly than his opponents! His only hope, was to drink healing potion after healing potion, and try to hold out until his follower arrived!

Suddenly, he heard the crash of falling rocks from the tunnel where his follower was battling the other bandits! Almost instantly, he saw the mage coming to join the Bandit Chief in finishing him off!

As he fell to the ground breathing his last, he realized that his fellow elf must have backed up the tunnel far enough to trigger the pressure plate trap they had dodged on the way in!

Thus did end Mathias the wood elf, at the ripe old age of 5 hours and at level 8!

I hadn't played Skyrim in about 6 months, so I played on expert instead of legendary. I had intended to mess around for a few hours to make sure I had a viable character, then enter the competition. Things seemed to be going so well, that I kept on playing for 5 hours!

When the game reloaded, my first thought was, "hmmm, how do I do this differently?". Then suddenly, it dawned on me, there was no doing it over! :'(

I guess I wasn't quite in the right mindset, because when I took the shot at the Bandit Chief, in retrospect, I should have turned around and run like hell! That never even occurred to me though. I thought of different strategies to fight, but turning tail never even entered my mind!

Now, faced with redoing the first five hours of the game over again, I'm just not feeling the attraction! I honestly don't know how you guys that replay from 20, 50, or 100 hours in over and over get into it?

Guess I'm just not cut out for the whole DiD thing.

A terrific tale though... too bad about the ending, eh?

Y'know, while not much is ever said about it, that mage is one of the toughest foes in the game and that bandit chief is famous for ending DiD runs with a one-hit, two-handed blocking bash of his weapon.

I always try to take out that mage before I start with the chief, or hit her with a fury spell so the other two down there end her for me.

I think I got a tad over confident, trying that particular battle that early on. There were a couple of close calls earlier, but I didn't heed the warning signs to be more cautious!

Just out of curiosity, I did reload and try it again. I wound up getting killed three times in a row, before I managed to come out on top. The question now is, was that just dumb luck, or did I finally figure out a strategy that works?

I'm think I'm the victim of too much play time at high levels!

I never seem to reach high levels... I don't believe I've ever broke level 50. If I did, it wasn't by much. One of the hazards of DiD, you know?

BTW, about the restart thing... I've played at least a couple of hundred characters, and done the vanilla opening levels (say up to level 10) so many times I get physically ill thinking about doing them again. My cure is to make huge changes in the character for RP purposes, and switch up a lot of mods to make the game at least feel different every time.

Then I can't stands no more, I go play Fallout (FONV or 4) for a while.

I'd have to check, but I think my last character that is on hold right now is like level 65ish. I have always gone the awesome gear route, and eventually wind up really over powered!

I finally took a break, because it seemed kinda ridiculous that I was killing giants on Legendary with one arrow, and a blood dragon took a whole three shots!

yeah, that's why I do very little crafting. usually Steel is the only smithing perk I take, and Enchanting I usually only take 3 or 4 of the perks on the bottom slot.
