Sure, and I mod my games, too. But how can we talk about "Potato Faces" (vanilla Oblivion) and then compare them to modded Skyrim? It isn't fair. The latter game has a better engine and better overall graphics. |

Have you noticed that all of the TES editors are designed to limit your ability to take away racial characteristics? You can't get rid of the pig noses, either. This is what Skyrim did to female Dunmers, who are supposedly the most sexually attractive race, according to lore: Posted Image |

I'm going to say that this is one of those agree to disagree things. If Ob didn't have potato heads, I wouldn't need mods. Without mods you can't get rid of cheek pooch, ugly dunmer foreheads etc. As long as you're happy with your faces, works for me. I'm happy with mine once they're modded. Which is INFINITELY easier to get to my taste in Skyrim than in Oblivion. |

I think character creation and our version of "beautiful" verses.. Ick.. and ugly are all different. I've seen some characters that people think are beautiful .. and I look at them and go.. huh? Spoiler: click to toggle but you see they are all of a 'type'.. though I do have characters that are not of the same stamp... Edited by Areial, Apr 8 2018, 08:11 PM.

Yeah - I'm aware my small pointy chins, high cheekbones, heart or triangular shaped faces, and small noses and mouths are not anyone's cuppa but mine. And that's fine with me - I don't really expect anyone else to care one way or the other. That's because that's pretty much what my face looks like - or did, back when I was much younger. And since my girls are all "me" in one way or another (well of course they're part and parcel of fantasy worlds, and they're SKINNY with small boobs - all of which I am not.... well, I'm not heavy, but I'm certainly not skinny....) that's why they turn out that way. |

Your girls are beautiful, just in a different way than most find "in their comfort zone'... look at top models.. most are.. very carbon copy.. but their are some that stand out, because they are different, but beautiful at the same time.. |

That’s the one that caught my attention too. She seems like quite an attractive character to me. Edit: I like Caius too but not in an attractive way but he looks like what an old bald skooma addict former bladesmaster should. Edited by Turija, Apr 8 2018, 09:31 PM.

Thanks.... As for models, I don't know anything about any of them - wouldn't recognize them if I saw them on the street. I don't watch tv, which would likely be the only place I'd see them. I do remember Iman though - now SHE is STUNNING (that's an old pic - I didn't dig around to find a current one, but since she's 62 now, pretty sure she doesn't look like that any more! - but with bones like hers she'll be beautiful until she dies.) Posted Image And I do think both Kate Middleton and Megan Markle are beautiful - in different directions. |

Well ya see... There was this Blue Light Special at the K Mart in the Imperial City... on a Black Friday beneath a Blue Moon... Oh crap, the truth is that I don't know how it happened, but at the time I thought it was worth a screen shot, eh? :) Here's the truth as I see it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (you know, funny floating ball with a bunch eye stalks....). The question as it pertains to this conversation is really moot though. It's not about whether or not characters are beautiful in a game (be it Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, or one of the Fallouts) but whether or not you can create a character that meets your idea of beauty in that certain game. The answer (for Skyrim and Oblivion certainly) is "perhaps"... if you happen to have the right ability or skill with that particular generator, or if mods are available that will allow for that creation. If you don't have that skill, or if mods aren't available, you are going to be unhappy with whatever character you create. For me, it's important enough to cause me to quit a character entirely, because I have to be able to see the character as a particular type of person. If I can't see them as a person, I can't roleplay them at all, and they bore me to tears. The end result is that if you're not happy with the end result, you're not happy with the game... and maybe, just maybe, that's because the game was so poorly designed that it requires more skill than you have or are willing to learn. For me, Oblivion's face creation just plain sucked. Glargg can like it all he wants, but I am not (thank goodness :) ) like glargg in what I want to see as an end result. It simply says to me that the developers simply did not do a good job with creating a usable interface... and frankly, with the racemenu and bodyslide mods, that is easily fixed in Skyrim and Fallout 4 which tells me that a usable interface was certainly possible, just not part of Beth's agenda. That's probably a big part of our different views on this. You have a specific set of characteristics in mind, because you "identify" with your characters. My characters are all over the map, because none of them are "me" at all. In fact, they're as "not-me" as I can possibly make them. They're all consequently very different from one another, as well.
Desdaemone was one of my characters who was most aesthetically attractive to me, too. She looks a lot like someone I knew a long time ago... She was one of my early dead-is-dead characters, and I was really hit hard when she died. Caius, as you know, is Caius Cosades, my re-creation of the "spy-master" from Morrowind. His game-save is still active on my computer, and I occasionally return to his story for a play session. At some point, I should set his Oblivion story out in readable form, as I think it is a different take on the Blades organization, and a possible foreshadowing of the disintegration of the Blades prior to the events in Skyrim. And I should finish playing out his story. :) |

I would really LOVE to read your Caius story, glargg. You write so well, and really, I haven't revisited Caius and the Blades in a very long time.... As regards your input on why my "look" turns out the way it does - true. My RP is ALWAYS (in a game) a girl who is me in that other world. This isn't necessarily the case with RP stories set in other worlds.... but I don't have to have a girl to play in a game with those - I just.... go with the flow. |
