So I figured a nice fresh thread to discuss our next round.. or rounds.. So far what we have got is an "open-ended" Stat's based Dead is Dead round ( no one actually agreed to Cartographer as yet) So what we need is: - the Theme cemented - Goal's defined ( loosely) - how to score locked in - Do's and Don'ts Glargg's proposition Spoiler: click to toggle Brams suggestion on scoring Spoiler: click to toggle Turjia's suggestion.. which would go well with Brams Spoiler: click to toggle I would like to add, that we should have a Graveyard.. this is for the Fallen... It can be both for the Long-term rounds and the short-term/ time-limited ones.. or just general play.. **This is just my opinion..** I know not everyone will agree, but I think to put a character IN the graveyard mean's they are DEAD... and can't be used again. Name and physical traits must be changed.. otherwise, it's the same character.. So Bonnie Ono ( Blond Blue eyed Nord..) can become Bonnie Dos ( Green eyed, Red-haired Nord) ... Yes, I know it's semantics.. but IMO it takes away from DEAD.. if they are resurrected again and again and again. |

I especially like the graveyard for non-competition DiD players, since it's an acknowledgement of what would otherwise only be noticed in our day-to-day updates and stories. I generally play dead-is-dead; even when I'm playing a character who's not specifically intended as DiD, I find that I lose the desire to continue after a character suffers a death/reload. So it would be nice to be able to memorialize some of these rascals. |

Yep... pretty much the way I have played for a very long time.. I don't announce they are DiD and sometimes it takes a "real" death.. not some stupid glitch, but then again, I have had characters get stuck in rocks and to me it's like they fell into a hole and broke a leg.. died from exposure/ dehydration/ starving to death.. which is what would happen in real life... most likely. |

I like the idea of the open-ended competition. Taking away the time restrictions relieves a lot of pressure to play fast and hard, meaning less mistakes. I’m going to plan out a character, just in case. :) |

Yep, me too. In fact, I already have. Muriel, Female Redguard "Spellsword," starting (with LAL) as an Alik'r Warrior in the wilds. With Alik'r garb and a Curved. Sword. She left Hammerfell to seek her fortune in High Rock, where her talent for Destruction magic might be more appreciated, but lost her way in the mountains, and found herself in the southern Reach. I've started her game, but saved her starting point, so that I can restart "officially" if/when we actually start the actual round. |

If we are going to do an open-ended Competition, we just need the theme and scoring guidelines. The Cartographer round that Kane suggested works well for something open-ended.. Scoring: 500 points for area's found 1000 points for areas Cleared ( you would have to keep track because of respawning ) Score of 100 divided by 10 hours = a final score of 10. Score of 1000 divided 100 hours = a final score of 10. Multiplier for difficulty? ( with an open ended.. Legendary will eventually be very strong ) Points for Items ( Berenziah stones or other uniques ) and we can start A Grave Yard at the same time... I think all games? so what would be needed is like.. Aireal Zyne Greymore Skyrim Altmer lvl hr's played Major accomplishments in a spoiler tag |

Also, if we have a time limit, we should use the time score that was suggested. |

I think what we are talking about right now is not having a time limit at all. Perhaps once we get this up and going it might be that some would be interested in a timed round.. then yes I think using a time multiplier would be a good idea. Not everyone has 60 or 80 hr to put into a 3 or 4 week competition. |

I think, if it's open-ended, one might be free to start even before all the scoring was worked out, since we're really just talking about awarding competition points for a normal open-ended DiD playthrough. :) In my case, my "practice character" is using a "sliding scale of difficulty" similar to what we've done in the past. She's starting at Novice, and will be incrementally increasing difficulty as level increases. I'm doing this because it's devilishly hard to play the game normally with Frostfall, Wet & Cold, and iNeeds at low level, until you have some Endurance Perks. If this character were to "become official," I would simply keep a record of achievements at each level of difficulty, and apply the appropriate multiplier. A bit more complicated, of course. |

That works... If Richard will get a sign in page up... we can call that a work in progress. Just the general theme, proposed rules so far. That it's basically a play it your way. Richard if you don't want to do I can, let me know. |

One Destro/Conjur mage ready to go ;) Glargg, I'm good with the "sliding difficulty" thing...I brought this up during our Dawnguard discussion (see Round X page 5 post 87). For that round it was a no go; this round? I'll need that to be sorted before I get going for real :) Edit to add the smiley in the right place! Edited by Lapuaboy, May 4 2018, 04:56 PM.

I've got a JOAT MON waiting as well. Recapping a bit, this is like a DiD thread, but with comp incentives, yes? That is, we'll have a graveyard for those that meet an untimely demise and all that. |

Lapua... this will be a "play it your way" round.. meaning if you want to use a sliding scale you can. Bram.. yes, only the Grave Yard will be a separate thread.. so that it cover's all of the Skyrim DiD Death's, competition and just general DID play. We can do an FO Grave Yard as well. I guess with no "time" if people want they can start, cause really it's all about the theme and having fun. This isn't a "rules competition" this is more like a long term challenge... we are just keeping score if you want to.. or not.. stat's and all that. I have not as yet decided what my characters skills will be.. or her exact story. |

Excellent, thank you for the clarifications Are! Now let's see what race to play; I almost ALWAYS play Breton, but maybe it is time for something different just because! |
