Obsidian and the JOAT MON

I thought I'd give an explanation here of Obsidian's "skills" and how I intend for the Jack-Of-All-Trades Master-Of-None to play out.

Perks will be distributed one per tree until all trees have a perk point allocated. Only then will a second perk be allowed in an already perked tree and the process will repeat again.

Magicka/Health/Stamina will be distributed in a 1:1:1 ratio.

This even distribution of perks for skills and attributes will provide the basis for the JOAT. Only through tremendous perseverence and endurance without demise will Obsidian overcome the MON.

Obsidian is currently level 5 and has a point in sneak, destruction, one-handed and smithing. He is currently wielding a shield and steel sword and hopes to put a point into block fairly soon.

Obsidian finds that it is useful to adapt to situations on the fly. Switching from bow to flames and sword to board. So far it has enabled him to survive the many fauna that are immediately ready to nibble on his tail.

It is my hope to utilize this opportunist play by equipping mix and match armors, weapons and magic as Obsidian makes his way toward becoming an Artisan crafter.

If you only attempt what you believe to be possible, you will not grow. - Sayings of Bargwar

Dawn came in stealth, hidden by the rain. The fire, partially sheltered beneath a gnarled juniper, guttered and hissed. By its flickering, Muriel studied The Map, and saw that it had deceived her, and had led her astray. The Map had never lied before; this was new, and was forcing a reassessment of Muriel’s situation.

It was not that she was lost. It was not possible to be lost, if one had The Map. The Map was ancient, written, it was said, by the hand of Tu'whacca himself. The Map could not be wrong, because it would faithfully show the way even through the Land of Dead Heroes. But it could lie, perhaps, if a lie suited its own purpose. Tu'whacca was the old Yokudan god of the Far Shores, of the Walkabout. And he was the Tricky God. Some called him by the name Arkay, but that was likely an Elf Deception, like so much these days.

If Tu'whacca himself had taken charge of The Map, who was Muriel to argue? She had faithfully followed the blue marker, and had somehow arrived in Skyrim, near to Markarth, instead of High Rock. She had been led northeast from Skaven, instead of northwest. And now the passes were closed by blizzards, and it might be months before the way to High Rock was open once more.

This was more of a complication than a mere dislocation of place. Muriel had intended to seek magic instruction in High Rock, as she had learned all that old Ptolemy could teach her, and Skyrim was known to be no more friendly to magi than were the folk of Hammerfell.

But the people of the Alik’r are tough and adaptable, and Muriel would find a way.

I can't for the life of me decide on a player home. Everything is either too much or too little. Probably just going to build Windstad and be done with it.

I think Cianna might build the small house on all of the properties ... no bed, just the fire pit and outside areas.. that way we can laydown bedrolls..

I'm starting on Adept.. and then sliding up as or IF needed, I believe Glargg is also using a sliding scale, but starting on Novice.

You can, just post the Stats as well as the name and such, so that I can get him or her on the rolls!

I will get the scoring up shortly.. it's more or less so we can all see how we are doing.. and I've been pretty busy this week!

Okay, if its okay to use existing characters, I am going to enter Gustav Dirac, a Breton who I started a few weeks ago but haven't played since then. So, he's existing but just barely getting started since I have only played him a few hours but this will motivate me to play him more.

As far as stats go, he's a jack of all trades but with a different take than Brambleberry. Instead of spreading his perks out, he will put them all into crafting and won't put any perks into other skills, at least not until he has completely filled all crafting skills.

He's starting on Adept. If others increase the slider as time moves on, I may as well.

With the slider thing, I'm just going to keep track of my stats for each difficulty level, and separately apply whatever the multiplier is. It's a bit more complicated to change difficulty like that, but there's no way I can start out an unarmored DiD, with Frostfall, and keep alive at higher difficulty.

I'm figuring to go to Apprentice at level 12, Adept at 24, and Expert at 36, and then reassess whether to shorten the interval for Master. I'm not much of a Legendary player, even at high level, so I may never get there. I don't believe I've ever taken a character above the mid-50s.

Muriel already came damn close to dying twice last night. The first time was just from being caught out in the rain (it's cold enough in the Reach to kill you if you get drenched and can't get to shelter soon.) The second time was from being cold already and encountering one of those mage fights, and, of course, the survivor who attacked was the frost mage.

I like Frostfall. It's not for everybody, but it works for me. It keeps you involved in the game, even when just walking along the road.

Cianna and Signar have not done much of anything, she just made level 3

They have cleared out Smugglers Den.. and fought some odd creatures.. gathered ingredients.. and then headed back Home.. ( Elysium Estate.. for now ) Where she dis-enchanted some of the weapons, armor and Jewelry that they found.

We will not actually take any Enchanting perks.. and will only do enough to reach 35, which is needed with SkyPe to take the Arcane Smithing perk, which I need to improve her armor.

Muriel is at level 11. She stayed around the Reach, doing miscellaneous quests and bounties, until she got the Letter from the Jarl. So she set out for Falkreath, did some work, and built the basic Lakeview house.

On her way to retrieve Runil's lost journal in a place called Southfringe Sanctum, she happened to pass near the town of Helgen, and witnessed a dragon attack there. So now she's caught up in that business.

I am going to take her on a camping/survival trek into the high, snowy places, so she can build up more endurance. There's no way that she could survive High Hrothgar's cold and wind yet. So, she won't be doing any more delving for a while. And it has to happen before we trigger dragon spawning, because a dragon attack in cold weather, with a long battle in an exposed location, would be fatal.

So...Gone Fishing (Hunting, Camping...) :)

Good luck Muriel! Toughen up that skin....

Heh. Maybe a Nord might have been a better idea?

And that's my basic long-term dislike of LAL: if you get anywhere NEAR Helgen, your game is toast if you don't want to do the MQ.... Of course, using LAL with Legacy, you do need to get past Dragon Rising anyway (because some parts of Legacy aren't going to happen without dragons) - but you can at that point just ignore everything else. Until you get sent for an artifact that resides in Sovngarde - *gnashes teeth*

Nice Glarrg!

I'm going to try and play at bit more tonight.. and maybe some tomorrow.. IF I don't decide to go on a Mother's Day trip to.. someplace.. was looking at Cave with out a Name but, I am a total freak about closed in spaces..

Big Bend National Park would be cool.. except it's a two day trip.. and I can't leave the critters that long.

I've been there a couple of times. Once as a small child - after parents hit Carlsbad Caverns, and the people there enthused about Cave Without A Name, so we went there next (that was back in the days when Daddy was okay with driving days just to go somewhere we hadn't seen yet....) and then later when I just wanted to see if it was as magical as I remembered from age 6 or so.

It was. OUTSTANDING formations. If you can manage to hit one of the concerts.... wow.

I didn't see a concert for tomorrow, but I may decide to drag Michael out for the day. Their are something's here in Texas I refuse to leave the state without seeing.. Caves aren't high on the list, but some of them ARE on the list. The Alamo of course, just because.. the Bridge in Austin with all the bats ( only Someone has driven to the Borden plant their waaaaay to many times to want to go see bats fly- that will take some work!)

Big Bend.. and some of the natural springs.. If Mom or Grama was still alive, I know I would have to go see "South Fork Ranch".. thankfully they aren't..

Heh. I can live without South Fork. But I've seen the Bridge (and gosh, I wonder if Mi Tierra is still there.... GREAT little bar back in the late 60s), and the Alamo. I love San Antonio - in fact I love a lot of Texas. I just don't want to live there.
