Good luck Muriel! Toughen up that skin....

Heh. Maybe a Nord might have been a better idea?

And that's my basic long-term dislike of LAL: if you get anywhere NEAR Helgen, your game is toast if you don't want to do the MQ.... Of course, using LAL with Legacy, you do need to get past Dragon Rising anyway (because some parts of Legacy aren't going to happen without dragons) - but you can at that point just ignore everything else. Until you get sent for an artifact that resides in Sovngarde - *gnashes teeth*
Yeah, Nords are easier with Frostfall, but I wasn't really going for easier. :)

A lot of my long-term characters in Oblivion and Skyrim have been Redguards, and I'm just basically following the trend. I like their lore, and their starting skill-boosts, which are balanced for a Spellsword-type character. Their Adrenaline racial power is actually useful for a sword/board fighter, if you use power bashes and attacks.

On the LAL Helgen thing... The only thing that is "toast" is that a dragon roars and flies up out of a burned-out Helgen, and you get a quest update. If you don't do anything about it (as is the case with half of my characters), the MQ goes no further.

In fact, if I'd wanted to, I could have ignored Helgen with Muriel. It was a blinding snowstorm, and the only clue to the dragon was its roar. It was never visible. She wasn't planning to enter the town, but was passing by to the south.

But I want dragons, in her case, because her ultimate story is the whole Dragonborn thing. That's why Tu'whacca sent her to Skyrim in the first place; she's there to defeat Alduin, and to open Sovngarde to non-Nord heroes. Tu'whacca is the Redguard god of the Far Shores.

Yeah, I do Redguards a lot, as I really like the background.

My unhappiness with LAL is having that stupid trailing quest in my log. I'm OCD about stuff like that.

I didn't see a concert for tomorrow, but I may decide to drag Michael out for the day. Their are something's here in Texas I refuse to leave the state without seeing.. Caves aren't high on the list, but some of them ARE on the list. The Alamo of course, just because.. the Bridge in Austin with all the bats ( only Someone has driven to the Borden plant their waaaaay to many times to want to go see bats fly- that will take some work!)

Big Bend.. and some of the natural springs.. If Mom or Grama was still alive, I know I would have to go see "South Fork Ranch".. thankfully they aren't..
You're not missing much by not seeing South Fork. It's nice enough, but really it's only cool if you were a fan of the TV show Dallas. I never was. BUT! If you went to Southfork, you'd be about 15 minutes from my house. :D

Well.... I've not been a "fan" of any tv show since the original Star Trek. As far as daytime tv crap in the evening.... um. No. Fortunately, I get sports in the evening. Thank GODDESS.

Of course, in exchange I have to suffer through Judge Judy from 3 to 4 pm. *SIGH*

Ugh Sis. I am SO not able to handle that tonight. My brain is mush. Yeah, I managed to fix your issue so you could post in the MW topic.... but that was much more by good luck than good management.

I'll see about it in the morning. Serious. If I start moving stuff tonight, it's probably all going to go permanently missing.....

I prefer Skyrim Unbound because of the options regarding Dragons. You can set it up to have dragons in your game without being Dragonborn and you can fight dragons and kill them without absorbing a soul if you set your character up to be non Dragonborn.

You can also set it up to be random so, you won’t know if your character is Dragonborn or not until they kill their first dragon. So, you can be like the guard who says “maybe I’m Dragonborn but just don’t know it yet.”

Lots of options. :)

I specifically wanted LAL for this run, for the Alik'r start. Plus I have a bunch of established ongoing characters, so I don't want to mess with my load order right now. Especially to replace something that makes so many small changes, as LAL does.

If I want dragons, but not to be Dragonborn, I use You are not the Dragonborn and / or Immediate Dragons

The MA of You are not the Dragonborn, says it won't work without the I.D., but I don't have it in my load order and haven't in a while. Could have something to do with Deadly Dragons, but I always get dragons after I do the watchtower fight, w/o I.D.

Most of my characters are not Dragonborn, but I seriously love seeing the dragon's flying around. Because you can't get all places without being Dragonborn.. this challenge I took out the 1st and don't want dragons to be Immediate.. Cianna would never survive right now, she need's some resist stuff.

Sure, but all you need to not be Dragonborn is to have a character who refuses to believe it. A lot of my characters do the MQ through the retrieving the Horn nonsense, then refuse to get involved with Delphine's schemes.

If you refuse her when she gives you the horn, you get dragons at their lairs, but they don't attack towns. If you refuse her after the Kynesgrove fight, you get normal dragons.

As for the Shouting, how hard can it be? If Ulfric can learn to do it, it can't be as hard as the Greybeards claim. Besides a lot of draugr do it, and they're dead. Who needs "Dragonborn"? :)

True that.. I guess it's just a mechanic's thing, I'd prefer not to see the pretty lights

In any case, Muriel will surely go ahead with the dragon situation, because she sees Tu'whacca's hand in all of this.

Muriel is camping in the mountains near Ancient's Ascent. If it were clear, she could see her house from here, but she can't, because a blizzard has been raging for three days, and she's glad to have a fur tent and a fire. And hopefully enough food.

Muriel has reached level 12, and difficulty has been adjusted up one notch to Apprentice. Her score at Novice level, adjusted for time and difficulty, is 2526 (48 locations, 12 cleared, 19 hours, Novice).

It's pretty much a cakewalk at Novice and Apprentice, but the score adjustment reflects that.

I expect the game to become more challenging soon, as Muriel will now be doing some serious dungeon delving, and her level will rise quickly to the Adept switch-over point. She also needs to work on her crafting, which will also drive up her leveling.

I should be starting soon. I pruned my load order last night, and just need to DL the recently released JK's Skyrim.
