Acadian, I’m always pleased when characters take a liking to Solitude, because it’s one of my favorites, too. If they are heroic enough to earn the young Sword-Maiden’s service, I am extra pleased! Thank you, Jace could stand to hear a compliment right now! Kane, thanks! We will soon see. Andra, thank you! She is getting there, lol. Sere, thank you for that mod! I could never find a really red dress for her. She will totally wear the one with the huge rose on it. Jace is not subtle! monkey, oops, I should have known that! I always picture Eolan as dark-haired, even though I know better. He looks awesome. I await the Tokens on PS4 to touch up my first-timer goofs. Solitude in Solitude, if she doesn’t pull herself together there, she never will! Areial, thank you! On a good day Jace would have sassed those Radiant sisters and then robbed them blind, but she’s too busy kicking herself while she’s down. Still, she’ll get up stronger. Also I can’t believe it rained in the game the whole time she was in this bleak mood. That did not help! |

Jace: page 21 Another day in Solitude brought another downpour. Once Jacelyn put her mind to it, it was easy to get to the Blue Palace without getting Taarie’s special gown soaked. With the noise of the rain she could have sneaked right into a guard’s pocket and changed clothes there. She didn’t have a plan when she entered the line of petitioners waiting to see the Jarl, but once she stood before the Jarl Herself, the words came easily. While waiting Jace had noticed that Jarl Elisif sounded kind, concerned for her people, and not overly bright. Jacelyn imitated her accent and tone when she offered her condolences for the loss of High King Torygg. It wasn’t long before Jarl Elisif complimented Jacelyn’s gown. The palace was loaded with expensive items just sitting out on various surfaces. So was the Bards College when Jacelyn stopped in to see about a buyer for the antique drum. She had to pretend interest in joining the college, which was no trouble since she indeed harbored that hope. Not for long, though, as it seemed that there was more to being a bard than getting drunk and singing while dancing on tavern tables. After the palace Jacelyn’s feet took her to Mrs. Morrard’s alchemy shop. Jace was mildly surprised to find herself there. She spent the rest of the dreary afternoon in warm companionship with the old lady, brewing potions for her to sell in the shop. Before she left, Jacelyn had a thought. “Mrs. Morrard, may I make an investment in your business?” She was amenable. The two struck a bargain. “Now I’ll be able to order twice the supplies!” Mrs. Morrard exclaimed. She sounded pleased for the first time since Jace had delivered bad news from the Legion. “I’ll contact my supplier right away.” While at the Bards College Jacelyn had paid a hefty sum for a private lesson in bargaining. She learned that a savvy trader might become a trusted supplier if they had invested in a retail establishment. Once she invested in some local businesses, Jace believed that she might use them to sell her stolen goods. That meant that the Solitude businesses were off-limits for Jace’s after-hours activities. She needed to not just appear respectable, but to actually be respectable in order to pull this off. No jail time in the Castle Dour dungeon, no sordid offers to guards to get them to look the other way, and no chance that someone might see their property for sale in their favorite local shop. Jacelyn wiped down the alchemy bench and sighed. And no strip dice games at the Winking Skeever. She decided that a late night visit to the Bards College dorm might be allowable, however. That young Redguard student had seemed very interested in her. He even showed her the back door that led to the residential quarters. And what the others didn’t see, they couldn’t tell. What a fun day in Solitude! Dear Elisef was perfectly described. I'm so glad things are looking up for Jace in Solutude. Investing in a legitimate shop, keeping Angeline company, even checking out the bedability of one of the bards. :bunny:

Ah.....so now we are beginning to see what makes her tick.....this is where a character becomes a personality Grits. I am pleased to see this development you are progressing with Jace...anyone can write about what their character build is doing.....but she is becoming a person. I see Adella's human actions, those little ' tells' inside, but seldom describe them in any detail because between her speech interactions and action scenes its already over blown. But seeing the difference a little display of humanity can make with Jace, makes me think I should make more effort to say the detail of what I see. Something Jace shares with Adella.....they are both young in growth terms and are still evolving who they are and what they want from their lives with us. Fascinating to follow :) Edited by Rick, Aug 6 2016, 08:30 PM.

Kane, I would love that! I even have a lovely apartment mod installed (Barnacle Cottage) in case she feels domestic. We’ll see. Andra, she’s getting there! I was scratching my head over Ataf. I guess she’s thinking about dipping a toe back in the water, and since he’s about as sexually threatening as a lettuce leaf, he seemed like a safe start. Sere, I’m glad you’re enjoying it, thanks! With Jace it’s usually one step forward and two steps back, so I’m relieved that she has not found herself right back in a bad situation. She’s finally learning! Acadian I was happy that Jace focused on the young Jarl’s positive qualities and didn’t get too nervous and snarky. Jace hasn’t noticed, but she’s very much drawn back to the people who are nice to her and not inclined to steal from them (yet). Thank you! Areial, I hope so! It’s funny to me that she declares she won’t “work” any more and then happily spends two days mixing potions. I think she just doesn’t want to have a boss! Rick, the parts of stories that I like best are the personal lives of the characters, so I guess that’s why I skip over so much of the gameplay in my stories. Jace has been unusual in that she spent so many days in game not doing any adventuring. It was interesting to watch her slow down and take a breath. She’s learned enough from being on her own that now her decisions are based on her experience since she left Shornhelm more than what she was told or how she coped with things growing up. Thank you! |

Jace: page 22 Jacelyn woke feeling well-rested. She stretched on the big bed until her spine popped and her ribs ached where Bolund had broken them. Her questing feet did not meet any hairy Nordic limbs, nor any smooth Redguard ones. The sheets were cold and mostly tucked in. Unbelievable, she thought. I’m still alone. But she wasn’t quite alone. Lisette stood just inside the closed chamber door, facing away but looking over her shoulder at Jacelyn. What the… “Good morning,” Jace called out to Lisette. She pulled the sheet up over her chest. “Good afternoon.” Lisette maintained her position. Jacelyn got up and put on a tunic. She was relieved to find she still wore her new aqua panties with the little bow in front. That meant fewer things could have gone strange last night. Perhaps she’s just in here to… Even Jace’s vivid imagination failed her. She had no idea what Lisette could be doing in her room, but what Jace would like to do in there next was use the chamber pot. Preferably without an audience. “Lisette, I could listen to you all night and all day.” Jace opened the door and stood aside for the bard to exit. “If your break’s over, may I make a request?” “There’s nothing like a good song to lift the spirit in troubled times,” Lisette declared. She strode out to the common area and began to play ‘The Dragonborn Comes.’ Jace snorted. At least The Dragonborn had some fun last night. Ataf the youngest student at the Bards College had left the door unlocked for her as promised, but when Jace got to his sleeping quarters around one of the morning watch, all he had wanted to do was talk. Mostly about his classmate Illdi. Also he didn’t have any wine. The Radiant Raiment sisters had offered Jacelyn a room in their house after she invested in their store, but a bit of snooping revealed that the women shared a bed while two other bedchambers stood empty. Jacelyn had no idea what the elves got up to in their private hours, and she was not going to judge. She wasn’t going to join in, either. That had left the rented bed at the Winking Skeever. Jace had discovered that when she actually wanted nightclothes she didn’t seem to have any. She also lacked certain foundation garments, since the Nords tended to buy things in cup sizes that skinny Jace could wear as a hat. So she had made some suggestions to the Radiant sisters for future sales and bought cute drawers that had bows sewn on just for decoration and no other reason at all. She guessed that rich girls must have such things, so she treated herself. She had not expected to model them for Lisette. The cold bed made Jacelyn think about Vorstag, but she stopped herself. Instead she patted the bed for Vigilance to hop up and bring her his brush. The war dog was undemanding company. Jacelyn wouldn’t let him miss his morning grooming session. She hadn’t broken anything yet, so Corpulus would just have to deal with dog hair on the covers. Downstairs she made contact with her new hired companion. Belrand, a Nord who looked older than the Fourth Era but claimed to fight with both spell and sword. Jacelyn supposed that if he had lived this long, he must know a few things about staying alive. Hopefully he wasn’t just very skilled at running away while his employer got slaughtered. “Ready?” Jacelyn asked. “What dangers and wonders shall we discover in the frozen wastes?” bellowed Belrand. “I can hardly wait to find out!” Screenshots: College lad without a clue. Departing in the rain. |

Andra, thanks! Ataf’s College dialog is so much about how he doesn’t drink and how he has a crush on Illdi, that was just not going to work out for Jace! Areial, and the Winking Skeever is the worst for unwanted attention in my games due to many mod-added NPCs. There’s not enough room downstairs so they sandbox into the rentable room and hang out. We mostly ignore that in Jace’s game since otherwise there would be such a continuous orgy even she would get bored with it, but when Lisette came in by herself and shut the door it had to go in the story! Thank you! Sere, I think there’s a creature under Haven’s bed, but luckily it only eats the occasional reply, so I think we’re OK. I wondered if the sisters were still stressed over some kind of Great War evacuation in their past or simply cold, but you know where Jace’s mind is going. Those aqua undies are still her favorite. Thank you! |

Jace: page 23 Jacelyn stepped out of the wizard’s den and drew a deep breath of clean air. She immediately coughed it back out again. “Maird,” she muttered, walking up to where Belrand and Vigilance stood with the horses. “It’s rutting cold out here.” “Did you find what you were looking for?” Belrand asked. Jacelyn replied by tipping the contents of her loot sack onto the icy path. “One of these is the right book,” she said. “The rest we can sell I guess. Or start the fire with them. Whatever.” It took a moment to figure out which book was on her list, and then only a moment more to pack up. The hair along Jacelyn’s neck had gotten soaked with sweat inside the stuffy cave, and now it was turning to ice. She shivered. “Get this in ya,” Belrand said, passing her a flask of mazte. Jace took a swig and nodded her appreciation. The old man kept it warm somehow. Perhaps one night around the fire he would share that trick with her. They would have to find some way to pass the time. She sure wasn’t going to embarrass them both by making a pass at him. Maybe I’ll take a look at some of these books. “You look none the worse for it,” Belrand remarked. “Yeah,” said Jace. “There was a wizard in there with a flame atronach. They didn’t see me.” Jacelyn had passed behind the mage close enough to smell his breath, but he hadn’t looked up from his work bench. The atronach had been easy to track in her movements across the cavern, and so she had also been easy to avoid. The thrill of evading the wizard on the way back out had evaporated before she even left his lair. Normally she would have rejoined her partner in a state of giddy delight, and then— Forget about it. Jacelyn unrolled her map. Belrand took hold of one end so she could point with her free hand. She noticed that her thumb was touching Markarth. Vorstag. “We’re headed east,” she said, ignoring the flutter in her belly. “Here and here. It doesn’t really matter which one we hit next.” She sighed. Cold nights, hard ground, and bad food. But I suppose I have to be somewhere. “If it’s all the same to you, let’s go through Rorikstead.” |

Rick, sorry about the imgur issue! I wonder if it's a location or zone problem. I almost never get the over capacity logo. Jace was in Rimerock Burrow, one of five locations selected by a mod quest. here are the pics: Ataf about to not get laid: Posted Image Bonus, the sleeping sisters: Posted Image Jace, Vigilance, and Belrand departing in the rain: Posted Image Sere, you're right, her heart's already on that path, and her head is as usual a pace or two behind. Thank you! EDIT: Ninja'd by Andra! :P Thanks, Andra! She seriously could have sneaked right up that guy's robe. Rimerock Burrow is the place you get the Rueful Axe, but she was there looking for a book. Edited by Grits, Aug 7 2016, 06:11 PM.

Despite how much I like Lisette, it is probably good that Jace awoke with her panties still on. Too bad the lettuce leaf bard was too much of a. . . lettuce leaf. Off to a wizard lair! Yup, those flamies are easy to see in the dark. Ya know, perhaps Belrand may be just what Jace needs for the moment. Someone more paternal than replacement for Vorstag - for now. |
