What a rough go that Jace has had! So sorry about her troubles with Vorstag. Here’s hoping Solitude shopping cheers here up . . . although it doesn’t quite seem to be doing the trick at the moment. As she says though, both her horse and dog love her – that counts for a lot where Buffy comes from. |

I know she's missing Vorstag, but maybe she'll find some things out about herself in Solitude. I hope she doesn't find out what the jail and guards are like! :) |

Ooooh, Careful Jace sweetie, those naughty oily bards will have you agreeing to all sorts of rum adventures before you've even realised what its all about. At least the midnight shopping will be worth the effort.....case out those snotty Altmer sisters, but don't get caught on the job darling. They are very quick to part heads from shoulders in this authoritarian place! Best wishes dear And do tell us more when you can The suspense is simply intolerable Chin chin Adella |

Areial, she’s nervous about trying to play a player, lol. Hi, Acadian!! :hi: Thank you, I think a shopping trip will do wonders once she’s ready. I am grinning over a vision of Buffy, Superian, and Kitsune cozy together at their campsite. Jace would find a lot to admire in Buffy! Andra, you’re right, and she needs very much to start looking inward regardless of how bleak the view. Adella, thank you! Those bards do like to send folks on their errands, don’t they? Sere, she’s taking baby steps, but in the right direction! |

Could be an opportunity to get better at talking, at least. If she's not willing to fight, she can go a long way doing that. |

monkey, I love your avatar! Is that Alois in Stros M’Kai? Yeah, fighting is on Jace’s list right after running away. Talking is much better. Jace: page 19 Jace sat on her fine bed at the Winking Skeever, painting her toenails with red lacquer. Jace loved red. Red was her favorite color. But Jace was a natural redhead, and all of her life she had been told that red was not for her. Screw that. Jace stretched out her legs and admired her toes, taking care not to smudge the polish. I’ll wear a red dress and a purple cloak and a pink hat if I want to. She considered for a moment. Perhaps not all at the same time. Most of her previous night had been spent slipping through the shadows, getting the feel of the city. When Jace forced herself to face the truth, she had to admit that she was still too nervous to even pick a pocket. A surprise midnight job offer from a suspicious Argonian had frightened her back to the Winking Skeever. She had no idea what he had in mind, but she was completely sure it would turn out badly for her. After sleeping in past noon as was her way, Jace had strolled through the market purchasing some of the luxuries she had failed to pick up the night before. Scented lotion, spiced wine, a pretty comb, dry shampoo for Vigilance, a soft brush for Midnight, and a tin of tinted lip balm all made their way legitimately into the market basket she had stolen from Bergritte Battle-Born. She had also selected a set of ivory dice that she knew Vorstag would like before she remembered she wasn’t supposed to think of Vorstag, but then not buying them would have made her feel like he was making her not do something, so she had bought them. Vigilance inched forward on his belly, gazing up through hairy brows with hope in his eyes. Jace had banished him to the rug while she was painting her toenails. Now she relented. The giant dog leaped up like a bunny but landed like a cave bear. Jace laughed and rubbed his ears once she had righted herself. “You’re a Nord’s dog, and no mistake,” she said. This time she let herself think of Vorstag. It was only a matter of time before he got tired of me. Jace had come to believe that though he had made her feel special, she really wasn’t. It was likely that her appeal to him was that she was easy. Also that she had paid him. “That doesn’t change anything,” she told Vigilance. “If he walked through that door right now, I’d take him back in a heartbeat.” Jace immediately knew why she preferred to lie to herself. The truth only hurt. Even as Sad and Alone crashed in waves over her head, guilt crept in. He’s better than that. He wouldn’t just leave. I must have given him a reason. Vigilance rolled onto his back and flopped his great head into Jace’s lap. She got to work scratching him. “Good boy, Vigilance. Lucky I didn’t paint my fingernails. Ugh, meat breath! Aw, you can’t help it, boy. Say, that reminds me. Tomorrow I’m getting us some tooth powder.” |

Andra, when Olfrid said “the great Clan Battle-Born,” Jace heard “We have nice stuff.” The rest was inevitable. :D Thank you! Sere, thanks, and you’re so right. Jace figured out way too young that the boys paid attention when she hiked up her skirt. She thought that they liked her. Now she’s getting a clue about lots of things she’s done and been wrong about. If only she had listened to her Mama! Rick, I suspect Jace’s nail polish was imported from Morrowind, but it could have been from anywhere. Maybe Cyrodiil? Part of the joy of shopping in a port city. Yep, she’s thinking about the whys, but not always getting them right. It’s a start! Acadian, thank you! Tears and toenail polish, it was like a high school sleepover for one, plus dog. :D |

Jacelyn spent a long time in Solitude figuring things out. Three more updates of time. :D Jace: page 20 “Well, hello!” the Altmer warbled. Her tone was honey over spoiled figs. “Here to buy? If you have to ask the price, you may be in the wrong store.” “I’m in the right store,” Jacelyn said, lifting her chin. One coin is as good as another, she told herself. Don’t let this elf wench get to you. “Outside you said you could fix me right up. Well, I have the gold and I’m here. Let’s fix me.” Taarie barely spared a glance. “Is that face paint supposed to be makeup? It makes you look like a savage. You have decent bones and an acceptable figure for one so stunted, but your hair is dreadful. That’s a good place to start.” Jacelyn decided not to argue. She scrubbed her face at Taarie’s basin and pinned up her hair the way Taarie showed her. “All right,” said Jace. “Now let’s talk about clothes.” It took a few hours, but Jacelyn left the shop satisfied with her look. She had intended to go to the Blue Palace and see what they had lying around, and now she had a reason. Outside the rain fell in sheets. Jace paused under the overhang. Idiot. What are you going to say to a Jarl? ‘I’m here to case your castle while I show you a gown?’ Besides, this weather would ruin it before you got out of the merchant square. A sign hanging outside a nearby shop provided a solution. ‘Angeline’s Aromatics.’ Jacelyn spent the afternoon with the proprietor, a fellow Breton, after Jace’s offer of help yielded only ill news. The old woman’s niece had walked out of the shop instead of comforting her. Jacelyn had swallowed the lump in her throat and awkwardly held the old woman while she absorbed her tragedy. Then Jace traded her pre-made concoctions for more ingredients, sweated over the alchemy station, and sold the results back to the alchemist. “I hope your parents are proud of you,” Mrs. Morrard told Jacelyn as she left. “They have a lot of reason to be.” Jacelyn felt a surge of shame at the words, but it was more habit than anything specific. Thank you, Mrs. Morrard, she tried to make herself say, if they could see me just today, I think they would be proud. But instead she just waved in acknowledgement as she closed the door. Her mind wandered as she stood debating her next move. Mrs. Morrard’s words reminded her that her recent celibacy and relative sobriety was likely to result in losing Sanguine’s favor and thus the boon of his staff. Her chat in the rain with handsome Captain Aldis had warmed the loins until he spit out the bad news, but he had looked at her soaking-wet self the way one might glance at an alley cat. That was a dead end. “Spare some gold for a veteran?” Jace handed over some coins and continued her internal debate. Her room at the Winking Skeever was large, comfortable, and immaculately clean. She had the sense that Corpulus would not approve any sort of party there, but a solitary glass of wine and a date with her horker tusk were unlikely to impress the Lord of Debauchery. Anyway, how long has it been? She thought back through the cold nights that followed Vorstag’s departure until she remembered Riverwood and waking up with Embry. That has to be why he left. He would have gone anyway if you hadn’t sent him away first. On the road he was probably trying to lose you. Of all your stupid, drunken mistakes, this one really cost you. Jace leaned her forehead against the porch post. Her stomach felt ill. “It’s best you leave me be,” the beggar informed her. Jacelyn didn’t look back at him. She shifted her parcels and stepped out into the rain. Jace's new look. Posted Image Edited by Grits, Aug 4 2016, 10:08 AM.

I enjoy the familiar ground in Solitude that Jace is walking. The haughty high elven fashionistas didn't really help her self-esteem, nor did her interpretation of Captain Aldis' take on her. And the bite of how her parents have a lot to proud of in their larcenous daughter didn't help I'm sure. Poor thing. Even a glass of wine and horker tusk can't cheer her up. Her new look is great and I love her hair! |

It's Eolan. :U I recently changed his appearance with the new Tokens and I'm happy to finally have his face not be a "first-timer at the ESO character creation" mess. (I forgot to edit the face triangle when recreating his alt's face but it's close to what I wanted anyways) At least Jace's getting some downtime to sort herself out. What better place than Solitude? |
