I have not played Oblivion since my x-box decided to quit working. I have it on PC, because I bought the Anthology, but as yet even booted it up.. I know I need to, I really do love Oblivion.. but <sigh> sooo much to do in skyrim... btw 385 mod's for Skyrim... Aillyn has the most "installed" at 152..
Do you do the whole bashed patch thing?

I use Wyre Bash... though not as extensively as some... my step's to "switch" characters

1. pick character..click (character profiles unload/ load)
2. check all unchecked boxes in NMM
3. Run LOOT
4. run Finis
5 Run Dual Sheath Redux
6. run rebuild Bashed Patch

Not as easy as switching characters on 360, but it only takes about 5 minutes top..and most of that is the profiles changing.

Hmmm. I use Profile Manger for the same thing. It's actually much easier, combined with NMM. NMM saves profile configs for however many toons, so all you have to do is load a particular profile. Then open PM, and select the particular named profile.

Which is why I have ..... um .... a LOT of named profiles....

I have that tracked right now... I have 12 at the moment, 16 saved preset's... cause I like mucking around in Character Creation and not every character speak's to me right away. I have pictures with their names, I look at the ever so often and see if someone will speak up.

I ended up rolling a new character over the weekend, since I forgot it wasn't as forgiving as Skyrim. I decided I'd rather be an archer than heavy armor sword 'n board, but my attributes were sooo low.

Cain, the light armored archer was born!

And he quickly learned of how big a pain vampirism is in Cyrodiil.

While I have got to the point with Skyrim that archery works well for me, it's still a PITA in Oblivion. The girl I "kept", Anesha Virani, is the one who didn't start out as an archer. And of course dual anything in Ob isn't really great (since the offhand is just a shield looking like a sword....) but I just can't get the archery thing very well.... I think this is why I usually played mages years back....

I generally played a battlemage or Spellsword... cause it was easier. I did a "pure" mage once, wasn't as fun for me.

I build a separate Bashed Patch for each character and make it part of their profile.

Wrye Smash isn't as good at syncing the mods to the character, so there's a bit of checking/unchecking, but LOOT should keep the installed mods ordered, which means the order for each character is the same, just the selection differs.

My problem is having too many test characters in the "default" profile that really deserve their own, because they stopped being test characters and developed a personality.

I probably don't have to go through all the step's every time, but I do anyway. The Bashed patch and the DSR patch are not always "lite up red"...but I feel better if I just take the time to do it all.

Ever since Feb 2007, Oblivion has been The Name of the Game in my household. Apart from cheating on it with other games such as VtM:B and Bioshock 1 and 2, I´ve been as faithful to it as a mouse on cheese.

I don´t play as much nowadays as I did before but I always come back to it and I keep the traditions, such as moving to Bruma for the winter, alive :)

I never took to Skyrim myself, for various reasons.

I reckon one reason I love Oblivion so much is because it had a tremendous impact on me when I started to play it. And I can´t exaggerate when I say this. Prior to it I played Doom 3 which was not my cup of tea, but then Oblivion came along and I was in gamer´s heaven! Or Haven, merhaps...? ;)

No longer did I have to fight everything; I could sometimes just sneak past them! No more looking for medkits as I had a healing spell! Oh, and did I mention spells? :P

Not to mention shooting with bow and arrow, using shield to block attacks and so on and such forth. So yeah, loved Oblivion right from the start, I did. Although I did miss the intro as my then computer was slow as heck and I just kept pressing buttons, hoping to finally enter the game.

I've been a role player for what seems like forever. As much as I loved Morrowind, then Oblivion, with thousands of hours played, when Skyrim came out...I was home. Each to their own, TES rocks!

Indeed! No other game or game series has ever gotten so many hours from me :)
