Siara 9&10 - I really like Siara's reaction to the visuals in Helgen and how they preoccupy her all the was into Riverwood. Very well done! :)

Heh. Well, the bandits ARE dumb. Serious. The horse.... he's not so dumb, but she doesn't know that yet....

Out of the flood and into the fire, indeed. That’s exactly what I was thinking! Siara has a way about her that makes me want the best for her. A “Good Soul” horse is a great start.

Siara's Tale: 11

I edged into the inn, called for whatever reason "The Sleeping Giant". The man behind the bar spoke genially: "Come on in. Just stoked the fire; have a seat, get the cold out. I'll send someone over - think I have a clean mug around here somewhere." Hmmm. Now, I was very surprised when I got near the fire to see - wonder of wonders, and thank you Leki! - a coffee pot! Apparently the joy of that beverage had spread even to Skyrim, and I was delighted.

I went to the bar, and bought water and coffee beans from the man, who introduced himself as Orgnar. I pulled my pocket grinder out, and ground the beans, then added them and the water to the pot. Soon the odor of coffee permeated the room, making me immediately homesick - but also causing my mouth to water. While the coffee brewed, I spoke again to Orgnar, and asked about food.

He offered me something he called a "sandwich". It was a half loaf of good bread, stuffed with meat and tomatoes and garlic. Again my mouth watered. I bought the sandwich, returned to the fire, and poured coffee. Heaven. Now if only.... "Orgnar.... is there by chance a bath house here?"

"No, missy. No bath house. But we just installed a bathing room of our own." His mouth gaped as I slapped money on the bar.
"You'll find towels and soap in the room there. Guess you must have been a while on the road?"

I just smiled, and took my food and coffee with me. Clean - I wouldn't have to kill to be clean after all.... and I wouldn't be bathing in the river! I was a bit surprised to find at least this part of Skyrim was civilized....

I love that Siara is finally getting a better impression of part of Skyrim, LOL I really should look at that coffee mod again. I love the bathing rooms, that one will stay forever in my load order!

And at least Riverwood is 'horse friendly'. :D

Yeah, I'm for giving her a better experience than Veri had (at least with the "comforts"). I really enjoy the coffee mod, and yeah, the bathing rooms are a permanent thing for me now!

You know, it's really funny what things come up to make a character "real"....

Siara 12:

I bought a few more sandwiches from Orgnar before leaving Riverwood that morning. They were tasty, filling, and easy to eat even in the saddle. Bat strode down the road at a long-walk that was comfortable to ride. His gaits were butter-smooth - unlike other horses I'd ridden. Apparently Anduraga was a good judge of horses, not to mention being a more than decent caravan master. And again I blessed him, asking his gods to be kind to him - for he'd been more than kind to me in difficult circumstances.

My thoughts turned to what I should be doing. I - really didn't know.... Somehow, I needed to research the daedric princes' spheres of influence at some point - because even though I felt that Dagon was responsible.... well, he might not be. Or he might be but not alone - I knew that the princes sometimes conjoined to cause havoc in the worlds.

According to Orgnar, there was the Hold's main city not far down the road - Whiterun. A city should have some availability of books, knowledge, a library? Of course, Whiterun could house a ruler as stupid as Taneth's.... I sent a snarl her direction. I wanted to hope or wish that Taneth washed out from under her - but that would doom thousands of innocents - so I didn't. But if any of them had brains, they should overthrow her....

Ach. All this thinking is hurting my brain. About that point in my ruminations, useless as they were, I saw a walled city rising like a layer cake over a natural rise in the ground. My mouth fell open. So far, what I'd seen in Skyrim was.... plebeian.... compared to cities in Hammerfell. But this! It had to be Whiterun - and it was from this vantage magnificent. The city rose behind its walls in ascending terraces, culminating in a huge edifice.... a palace obviously.... and far more glorious than the princess's tower in Taneth.

I was.... awed. And felt small and uncomfortable. But - my natural elan finally goaded me into a more logical reaction: I was equal to anything Hammerfell had thrown at me; therefore, Whiterun could not be worse!

I kicked Bat into a gallop, and pulled him to a flashy stop just before the city gates.

Yay for the small comforts!

I love Siara's impression of Whiterun from afar and her stylish arrival at the gates.

Thanks guys! I'm beginning to really enjoy her myself (wasn't sure there for a while....) She's also fun to play in game - twin daggers and a bow, which is different for me (and well, for most Redguards I suppose). I'm using the Crimson Twilight armor (light version) for her.
