Oh, thanks sis! Yep, Deni has found her calling.... and so, in a way, has Siara. In some ways.... I want to end this here. But there are SO many loose ends.... I dunno. |

 awesome!! perfect! Siara is a wee bit dense on the heart side, but I know the feeling. Deni is one smart cookie! If the story feel's done, but with loose ends perhaps it's someone else's story to tell and Siara just had the pre-amble. |

Whaaaat? Sere.....its not done....hell...its just getting into its stride. Seems like you got into such a level of heavy detail what with the 'family' and clockwork and Siddgeir and Deni.....that forging ahead is feeling to be a monumental task. But don't lose focus honey.....Siara's whole point of being here was to unravel the mystery of why Fenbaggen was flooded by Daedra and how to exact a revenge upon the effectively divine superbeings! (maybe cajole another Daedra to take up the cudgle for Siara...go to...Oblivion). Please don't let this fantastic saga flounder just because some chars have reached the end of THEIR bit of the tale. Anki, Deni etc were interesting asides in a much bigger picture! But they are like kids demanding attention...and now they are put to bed! NOW is the time for Siara to be content that her family is settled and safe....allowing her to press on with her goal unfettered. I will be sad and disappointed if this is the ending of a tale with such potential :( (Edit...I'm not into epic pride and predjudice 'love stories' either....though right now Adella is...exploring this facet of human behavoir....she is mentally, in someways ...still a child. Finding out about new things and trying them out). Edited by Rick, Sep 9 2016, 07:30 AM.

Siara Part Two; 1: The mating ceremony was elaborate, and close enough to what I’d known of my own clan’s similar celebration. I didn’t care - I just wanted to belong - to be Andur’s mate. To be.... family.... because my own was - drowned under the flood. Now, mind you - it was not that I.... chose to believe that the Alf’agar family was better than my own. But - they lived, did they not? And my family was.... no longer alive. Thanks to Dagon. But everyone needs a belonging. And - I - more than most I think.... I was - jittery with nerves as the feast came to its end. I - well, I was virgin, unbroken.... and - while I knew what happened betwixt a man and a woman.... well.... I was - afrighted. This was something I knew happened - but I had no actual knowledge of my own. I’ve always been easy with things that I know.... but.... Still. I love Andur. He’s - somehow - the other half of my soul.... And for that I must thank the daedra... those very same ones who sent the flood and drowned my folk. For if it had not been that Dagon had produced a flood in Hammerfell.... I would never have known Andur. I would never have loved him. He would not be my mate. There’s a lesson there, I think.... Ah....lovely...yes. And Siara is learning of fate and destiny....as much as she hates Dagon for what he did to her home, destroying her happiness, she now owes him in a twisted consequence, a gratitude for her current happiness. How often this very paradox haunts our real lives eh! And...in our quasi reality of living characters....for me also! The pain and distress of losing Ulda, was, I understand, a necessary pre-cursor to the manifestation of her evolved self.....Adella. Its just how things work <shrug> Looking forward to the next bit Sere :) Edited by Rick, Sep 10 2016, 09:24 AM.

Siara Part Two; 2: We took a while by ourselves, off away from the Ridge. Andur was interested in seeing the cities we hadn’t been to yet, due to what the Jarl had said to me about the stable and carriages. We knew that several of the hold capitals could be accessed by the carriages, but they had no stables themselves. We went first to Winterhold, and I was keenly glad that I’d not gone there trying to find books! It was shatteringly cold, and there was really very little to call even a village, far less a city. In fact, the buildings still in one piece seemed more like the slums of Elinhir to me. Andur shook his head once we had turned our horses toward the west. “How that can be the capital of a hold I cannot fathom.” Well, I couldn’t either. We were several days out of Winterhold, dealing with predator attacks and the occasional bandits - nothing unusual. We had chosen to ride fairly straight west, it seemed the wind off the sea north of us came at us less in that direction. From a height we saw a town below, fronting a decent bay, with ships in harbor. It was drawing down night - so a town was welcome. We rode in through the gate, and saw to the right a largish building - the inn most likely. Yes, according to the sign in front, this was called Windpeak Inn. A man came out just then, aproned as a barkeep or innkeep, and Andur asked, “Does the inn have stables for our horses?” He shook his head. “Sorry, no. But you can stake them out over near the shore to the northeast, past the last house. There’s a field used for a goat and cow, not fenced though.” We thanked him, and headed there to set the horses for the night. As we started around the last house, a woman and man were arguing - he standing on the porch, she below the steps. “Your ancestors wouldn’t want this, Silus!” “Why should I hide from it? This is my family’s legacy!” “It’s in the past! Dead oaths on dead lips. Let it stay there.” “The museum is opening, Madena.” She turned away and nodded at us as she walked by. I remembered suddenly the pamphlet the courier had delivered. “Andur, let’s take care of the horses and then see what this museum is.” We found a small runnel of water near the field, so the horses could drink, and staked them on short leads, then gave them grain; they would have some sere grasses to eat in the field as well. Then we walked back to where the man still stood on the porch. “So, you have come to see the museum? Well, the two of you look as if you might be perfect for a job I need done. Come in, come in.” We followed him inside the house. He began explaining about his family’s legacy of the Mythic Dawn. And then.... the hair stirred on the back of my neck and along my arms: because he was talking about Mehrunes Dagon - and Mehrunes’ Razor, the dagger lost during the Oblivion Crisis so long ago.... Andur looked at me and I’m sure he was wondering what was going on - I thought I must have gone pale (quite a feat for someone as dark as I am). Silus was asking us to find the pieces of that dagger - it had been broken into three parts and each part was given to a particular person, who apparently had each handed the pieces down through the intervening centuries to their descendants. I looked at Andur and shook my head a bit. Then I turned back to Silus. “We will think about it. We will talk tonight, and let you know in the morning. We’ve been days on the road, and a night’s sleep at the inn will be welcome.” “Ah. There’s no real sleep in the city - there’s a curse of nightmares it seems. You’d probably get more sleep in the field beside your animals.” Andur shrugged. “Perhaps. We will consider. We shall see you on the morrow.” I followed my husband out the door. We stopped near the horses and spoke quietly together. “Andur. This must be meant. We may be able to find somewhat to use against Dagon, or somewhat of bribery so that I can find a way to begin the repayment that prince so richly deserves.” “I don’t know.... How can we think to take on a daedric prince. As mortals, the only thing we can do is die.” “Well, at least let us see about regaining the pieces this Silus wants. Perhaps by that time we will know better how to go on. Think you we should forgo the inn and sleep out here?” “Aye. I don’t need nightmares - nor do you!” So we made a rough camp, and while it was chill in the field, we slept warm enough together as the horses kept watch. We had love to drive the nightmares back if necessary.... |

Siara Part Two; 3: As the sun sprang up the sky, chasing night shadows before its light, we returned to the museum. Silus was standing on the porch again. He nodded shortly as we mounted the steps. “So? Will you find the pieces?” I answered him as shortly. “Aye. I hope you have some idea where to start looking.” “I have a small dossier on the families - and their current descendants, those who must now hold the pieces of the Razor.” He handed me a small folio bound in red leather, with the symbol of the Mythic Dawn embossed on the cover. “Bring the pieces to me here - I have a special place for them.” We bowed briefly, and then went back to the field to tack the horses. Once on the road, I read the bits of information in the dossier. Little enough - one of the three pieces was with a man in Morthal; one was held by an orc who headed a small bandit group in a place outside Falkreath - Cracked Tusk Keep; and the third was retained by the leader of the Forsworn at Dead Crone Rock. I shuddered at that - she would likely be one of those hagraven obscenities.... I read it all aloud to Andur. My mate shook his head, in dismay I thought. But I was wrong. “Look you. Let’s do the easy ones first - the man in Morthal, the orc in Cracked Tusk Keep. Then we may take a little break at the Ridge - and think about adding my brothers to help us with the hag and her Forsworn.” “That’s a good idea. I’m missing Deni a bit....” “I know you are, love. Well, I am also. I - what would she.... and you.... think if I ask her to take the Alf’agar name? A sort of.... adoption, I suppose....” My eyes filled, and overflowed. “I - think - that’s a wonderful thing to offer her. And me. I don’t know how she will react. I DO know that she will be honest!” “Yes, younglings do tend toward brutal honesty. Well, we will see when I put it to her!” I was.... astounded - at the depth in Andur’s soul; and that surprise did not speak well of me or my abilities when it came to noticing emotions. I was grateful that he had put up with my silliness for long enough to get around me, to wait until I knew I loved him. I hadn’t known many men - but I thought that most would not have been so patient. I thought.... his soul was the best part of him - aye, of course he was a very attractive man.... but his soul was far more than that.... From Dawnstar, Morthal was southwest about five days. We had the usual to deal with - bandits, wolves, bears, more bandits, more wolves. I was heartily tired, as always, of killing predators - why did they not shy from men? There was more than aplenty of game for them; in Hammerfell the predator species had shied from humans. But not here.... It bothered me as it did every time I thought about it. As we entered Morthal from the northeast, I stopped beside the gate guard. “We look to speak to Jorgen of Clan Axe-Bearer. Could you direct us, please?” “Oh ayah. He be yonder, t’ mill; ye find ‘im thur most hours of day, as he runs th’ place.” “Thank you. Fair day to you!” Andur replied, as we turned our horses toward the mill. ***** Deni sighed. While learning to manage her sometimes recalcitrant mage-gift was a good thing - she missed her mother. ‘Eh. Siara. Not my real mother.... Things are so complicated.... How is Andur going to think about me - Siara’s like to have children - of her own. His children. Where does that leave me? Ah, Deni - you think too much, and worry far more than too much. Siara’s not going to.... whatever you were thinking....’ But as she started womaning, her emotions were just too complex to sort. And - all that meant that she wasn’t paying enough attention to what Nokka was trying to teach her. Finally she shook her head, decided to bathe and wash her hair, and then talk to Selalla. Nokka just gave her the look, and said “You know where to find me when you’re easier in your mind, girl. Mind. Do NOT practice when you’re so unsettled.” “Ayah. I won’t. I’d be a danger to everyone starting with me and going on from there. I’m....” “No. No apologies. Sometimes - well, you have to take things as life hands them to you. Don’t fret. You’ll get sorted sooner or later. And when you do - well, you know where I am.” Deni bowed, fist to heart, then rushed to the woman to hug her and kiss her cheek. Then she ran off to bathe. Nokkara shook her head. This wasn’t a good time for Siara and Andur to be gone.... Edited by Serethil, Sep 11 2016, 09:09 PM.

Aw, I love that Siara's building up a new family from the ashes of that disaster. Things are looking up for the three of them. And now that they have a lead to pick up on, she's one step closer to getting some closure, and maybe vengeance? |
