I love that mod, and thanks Areial for pointing me to it! It's not for every girl, but for a few it's just PERFECT. And they all get Ambrosia dresses for when it's time to sing and play.... |

Whoa, I bet that was a surprise when Andur showed up. I loved the description of the light curtains at night. I’m looking forward to the Dead Man’s Respite adventure! I expect that Siara and Andur will be better acquainted by the time they get through it. |

Siara's Tale 24: Well, I can say quite truthfully that I am not ever going to love ancient barrow-ruins. It wasn’t an impossible task, but it was.... unpleasant.... from the moment of sighting the ghost (which turned out to be that of the bard who’d debunked the whole dragon-capturing tale) and picking up a strange looking claw sculpture to having to kill our way through a horde of those undead known in Skyrim as draugr. Actually, Andur was calmer about the ghost and the undead than I was. My heart jumped as if it would leap out of my chest the entire time we were in the barrow. He just killed what needed killing, and went forward. I supposed it was something to do with him having sworn fealty to me - that might have simply given him enough peace and calm to do what needed doing. I however, wanted to be OUT of this damned place in the worst way. Eventually we found the bard’s body, with the ghost looking down at his remains. I picked up the book, then we followed the ghost back to a double door we hadn’t been able to pass before. The ghost - threw - some magic at the door (I purely HATE magic....) and drawing his ghost-sword, ran through. And then there was another double door - with some sort of puzzle-lock about it. There were three arcs, with various birds, animals, beasts positioned around them - and there was a central circle with three holes. Ah. The claw-shaped thing. I looked it over carefully. Probably, there was some trick to this door and the claw, and the glyphs of animals and so on. I thought on it. I really had no facility with tricks and puzzles.... “See, Lady. The claw, if you look at the palm area - do those arcs move?” Oh. Hmmm. “Yes, they must. And if you line up the glyphs correctly, then insert the claw.... What a strange key-and-keyhole though!” So I pushed on the areas of the doorway, and then put the claw where it seemed to be intended it go.... And the arcs rotated with a very great amount of noise and dust (as if they’d been static for a huge amount of time) and then dropped one after the other into the floor - allowing us to follow the ghost-bard. I stopped to pick up the claw-key. It might be handy again - or it might simply become a souvenir. After entering a massive chamber lined with tombs and undead sitting in chairs - almost all of whom either jumped up to attack or burst out of their tombs to charge us, I lost track of the ghost for a bit while we put our backs to the door and picked off draugr with our bows - they really weren’t very bright, but they did die easily. All to the good. Because when we’d finished them off, the ghost suddenly managed to actually speak aloud, and what he spoke cause the hair to raise on my arms and the back of my neck: “Olaf! It is time!” The tomb central on the dais burst open, and what I presumed to be the undead Olaf headed for us at speed. We fought from distance with bows - because the ghost kept the draugr Olaf occupied. Eventually, the draugr was dead - again. Thank the gods. The bard produced a ghostly lute, strummed a haunting tune, saluted us and - dissipated. I was, truthfully, very glad he was gone. “Lady - you are pale. We should get outside.” So we did. I was never so thankful to be shut of a place as I was of that one - well, leaving Fenbaggan out of consideration of course. And now to return to Solitude, give Viarmo his pound of flesh, and find some books. I could be almost cheerful at the prospect. If only everything was this simple! Oh woman.... do not EVER mock the gods with thoughts such as those.... |

A most excellent ghost story! The differences between Andur and Siara reacting to "things" - very well done. And one wonders what thoughts "they" pick up on, especially ol' Sheo. :book: |

Heh.... Yeah. She should know better - but, well.... Skyrim's been a different, more calm, experience than what she came out of.... |

Very nice... My characters are always very happy to have helped that ghost, even those who aren't Bards. |

Interesting that she will be traveling with company. I never used followers if I could help it either. I think I've only done DMR once and never any of the following Bards College quests. Just never seem to think about it. |

Siara's Song 25: My stomach was roiling with emotions too many to sort or give names to. Anduraga was frowning as I tried to explain. “So you have to go to the place of the ruler here, and listen while the Bard recites the verse? But why? You are not a bard, Lady - are you?” “No.... I can sing. More or less. But since I’m the one who brought him the book - with your help of course! - he insists I need to go to be presented to Jarl Elisif.” I sighed. Perhaps I would get some gold out of it. I did. But I also had to put up with having the butchered verse read to the Jarl, and then stand around while the Bard’s College’s members burned the effigy and lauded me for returning the verse and producing the desired result (that of convincing Jarl Elisif to allow the festival to proceed). And then, we had to go back to the room at the inn, and wait until the next morning before I could talk to Viarmo and Giraud Gemane about books. And before I could get in the door each of the other masters had something they wanted me to do - urgently! - for them. I put them off, explaining that my country, Hammerfell, was besieged by daedric princes and I had to deal with that first. Gemane also had a thing he wanted - but I put him off the same way. I got both Gemane and Viarmo together, and asked “Where then will I find information about the daedric princes and their spheres of influence? I’ve done as you wished, and you did say that you would help me with the books....” They looked at each other, and then at me. And I knew without them saying anything else that they really didn’t know much.... I scowled. “So? No answers?” Gemane shrugged. “There are lots of books here. They aren’t.... in any particular order. I don’t myself know anything, or care to know, about the daedric princes. In fact, I don’t know anyone who makes much of a study of them here in Skyrim. You would do better to head for Cyrodiil.” Viarmo couldn’t meet my eyes. But he did offer a bit of information as Gemane walked away. “Well, really - a flood in Hammerfell could only be Mehrunes Dagon’s effort. Perhaps with a bit of Vaermina thrown in for good measure. Here, let me mark your map with the shrines of those two - because there is where you should start, with the shrines to them. Other than that, well, if you want to train as a bard, of course we’ll help you with that effort.” He bowed, and then trailed away up the stairs. I stomped out of the building. Pissed did not describe my mood - I was more than angry, more than even enraged. If I could have been a vampire, so to bite Viarmo and Giraud Gemane, I would have. Andur looked at the storm sailing on my face and through my eyes, and wisely, said nothing. |

Well.... they're limited by their limits after all. They "only" do bards and barding. They don't get anything else - and then there was the business with the Burning festival that "needed" to happen for whatever reason (IS there a reason? Outside of quest manipulation etc....) But yeah, Siara's wishing she could deal some serious hurt - but she's got other fish to fry. She's not going to think they're edible though. |

Sere I can just hear her, "Bards! More like mammoth Turds fi you ask me!" :teehee: Mayhap she should pay a visit to a very grumpy orc (not that she's there for any of that "magic" crap, but just the information. |

I have to say Sere, one of the thingsI like about Siara's story is that it makes me crave coffee. I guess it helps that I tend to read these with a mug of the stuff but still. If it were Siara's thing, I'd say she should burgle for compensation.

You know, I've never tried this, but I was wondering if one had the applicable scroll or staff could that be used to pass Faralda's test? Hmmmm, I may just have to try that one of these days. |

I don't know Bram. I might try it to see - and since she's not doing word walls and dragons, well.... I don't really know where it's going to go! Next installment tomorrow - we're going to have dinner with husband's niece and her husband tonight (up at the campground - they're there for a week.... Hadn't seen them in a LONG time - since her dad died I think, several years anyway....) |

No mosquitoes - there are a few in the valley but they only bite cows and horses generally. I've never had a mosquito bite since we moved here.... so like, 30 years or thereabouts. Company was great, and we had dutch oven spaghetti, lovely green salad, Mel's pickled beets (from her mom's recipe), and watermelon for dessert. It was a beautiful evening up in the park - and NO SMOKE SMELL finally! Edited by Serethil, Jul 19 2016, 10:38 PM.
