Sounds like a lovely picnic evening. Viarmo was such a weasel! At least she has an idea where to go next, but that was no real thanks for what she did for the Brads College! Grr. |

I hope she dresses warmly! Winterhold is a far cry from the weather in Hammerfell and Solitude. |

Had not started this one before Yep...hooked now Quite long too and growing fast I really do get the not knowing where its going in advance thing. I have this all the time with Adella....I attempt to steer along the quest path, but shes constantly side tracking us and doing stuff I do not want! Very descriptive prose, easy to imagine. Your experience with this kind of thing shows. I will be following along here on in..... |

Thank you very much, Rick! Those are such kind words! I appreciate that you "get" it, I truly do - I've never yet had one character (whether in a game or just from my mind to a file) who hasn't caused me to tug on already-a-bit-thin-on-top hair! You would think that since these people seem to be products of my very fertile imagination, I would be able to control their destinies and destinations. You would be SO wrong. |

Siara 26: The LAST thing I wanted to do was go to the mage’s college in that out-of-the-way city at the far north. But I also didn’t want to just show up at Dagon’s shrine and hope he’d be polite and overlook what I came out of.... As for Vaermina, I knew only enough of that prince to shudder - nightmares.... I didn’t need a Daedra helping me with that. Anduraga was very quiet, as if he thought I might bite his head off. I finally sighed, and said “You needn’t worry - I’m not going to flay you alive, or even growl at you. It’s none of your doing, after all.” “Oh, nay Lady! I was just thinking.... I have a brother in Bruma. Yon ‘bard’ suggested Cyrodiil, and perhaps my brother would have some thoughts. We could go - or if you wish to pursue other paths, I can go myself. In fact, it would be a good thing at this point I think if Arnemdur came back with me....” I slanted him a glance. “Let us think on it for a few days. I truly do not wish to deal with these mages - I have no use at all for mages and their magicks - but we should discuss all the options. Let us.... go out of Solitude. Perhaps we might go back to Whiterun for a bit. It’s much more pleasant there.” “As you wish, Lady. I have no love for this place - it’s all dark walls and stone, and unfriendly stares. We could.... ride elsewhere, instead of taking the carriage....” Hmm. I thought Andur was not very happy with the situations in Skyrim - well, how could he be then? Of all the world, there might be no place more different from Hammerfell than Skyrim was. I unrolled the little map and wondered what might be found in the blank places. Probably the carriage men knew - but they’d not want to vouchsafe that information, then, would they? As if they did, they’d get no fares.... Instead, I stopped to ask the gate guard about inns not too far outside the city. He gave me an odd look, but replied courteously enough. “Well, Dragonbridge has a good inn, and not far from here. When you leave the gate, simply stay on the high road instead of going toward the river. It’s a matter of a few miles. The innkeep there is related to our man at the Winking Skeever.” “Thank you. We wish to be on the road early in the morning, but there’s time yet today to make some miles. That will suit, and we appreciate the information.” I slipped him a few septims. Gold was never amiss, and he nodded thanks while tucking it into his pouch. So. We had a small destination - at least for the night and that would be enough. I needed to think, without all these people around.... |

Daedric Shrines, ugh! I like this, and Andur seems to be a man wise. I like his loyalty to Siara! I hope she finds an alternative to having to go to Winterhold, but if she doesn't, it should prove to be an interesting journey. :) |

Ha, the Four Shields is the quietest pub in the province...on vanilla at least. Yeah I Was pleasantly surprised when the little girl (minette?) in The W,Skeever talks about Aunt Faida.....then there a lot of hushed mumbling implying some fancying going on. Of course Faida loves Whatsisface Maro...who we then get to kill.....tangled webs! Thanks for the read. |

I don't know....probably you don't either! You know the faction that kills Maro....doesn't sound like Siara's bag....but who can tell eh! She could get involved with ANY faction through pure happenstance....maybe she might like a taste of Adella's penchant and join the Dark Side of a certain 'family' hmm. I have been actively steering the aristocracy away from the DB faction....because I know what it will do to her, but she is drawn like the proverbial moth to a flame, they speak her language....its only a matter of time :( |

Siara's Song 27: Dragonbridge was a very small town. There was the inn, a mill, a general goods merchant - and an Imperial Penitus Oculatus outpost. I sent an annoyed glance that way. What good were they, stuck off out here miles from the city? Or.... perhaps they were supposed to be out of the general knowledge? That thought made me.... leery. The bridge for which the town was named though.... THAT was a marvel and a wonder. In all of the Hammerfell I knew, there was nothing to match it. The bridge sprang across the Karth River, and atop the central stone arch was a carven stone dragon skull. At least.... I thought it was stone.... Perhaps it was an actual skull. I wasn’t sure. But I was sure I didn’t want to know! Dragons.... just - spare me. We took a room at the Four Shields Inn. I ordered a meal and wine - I was tired of the local mead. Andur nodded, being pleased himself to have wine instead of the more common ale or mead. The food was good though not outstanding. In fact, we’d had better in Whiterun. But we ate well enough, and then finishing the wine, we decided on coffee before retiring. I was so happy that coffee had become available outside Hammerfell. I didn’t know how that had happened - and I wasn’t going to ask! The room was.... small. And had no door. The bed was smaller.... Andur grinned, the first time I’d seen it. “Have no fear Lady. I will sleep here” he spread his bedroll across the open door-frame, and sat cross-legged, waiting for me to take the bed and blow out the candle. What could I do? There truly wasn’t room in the bed for both of us (he’s.... not a small man.... and nor am I tiny....) So I simply saluted him and went to bed. Oh. The candle. I turned over to blow it out. He was, so it seemed, already sleeping. I dreamed of Amark. I had truly believed we might make a match. We - had much in common. Our abilities complemented each other. He was not - handsome - precisely. Rugged - with a strong (stubborn!) chin and jaw, a beaked nose, tight curled reddish hair, and no beard - because he shaved it (for which I thanked Leki....) We hadn’t got far enough to talk about making a life together - I was at odds whether that was good or bad. But I missed him. Not just him. I missed my entire life that now lay under a flood - in Hammerfell. I HAD to find out why. I just hoped I wouldn’t take other lives with me when - as my fatalist mind insisted to remind me - I died pursuing daedric princes. A restful night it was not. Finally I woke just before dawn, and lay still to try to suss out just what needed doing first. One thing - only one: it would be best to go to Cyrodiil, to Bruma, where Andur had a brother. And where we might find more information without having to deal with mages. “Lady. You are wakeful. What’s toward?” “It’s early, Andur. But - that’s all to the good. We ride for Bruma.” |

*squealing* Oh, I like it Sere!! Well, except the thinking of getting dead by Daedra, eek! And a trip to Bruma, it's awesome, a bit of both lands! I can't wait. And I still like Andur very much. :D Edit: I keep forgetting about the like button, lol. Edited by Andra Hawksdaughter, Jul 21 2016, 10:07 PM.

Heh. It'll be like a trip into the past.... I was actually surprised that's what she decided. But then, I was surprised Andur has a brother in Bruma.... Hells. WHERE do these people come from, anyway? |

No shit Sherlock. I swear, there are major authors out there spinning in their graves - because things you make in your imagination.... .... ARE.... NOT.... REAL.... Hmph. Bite me. |

So many people are sure they know what is real......deluded fools I could prove unrealness in the real world with a few scientific principles and modern quantum theory. But I prefer the psychological approach. We only know our reality as a series of electrical (digital) impulses from our body's primary sensors which are mapped across a grey jelly like cortex. Our imaginations can fire similar responses.....visual is easiest being the strongest sense. In extremis....hallucinations can include sound and touch. To our minds at the time the input may be indistinguishable from our more expected "reality". In essence....a powerful imagined experience IS a reality and as I maintain...if it were not real I couldn't see it. When the Contessa enjoys a cigar....she really does.....its not on my screen...it is HER portrayal of the life SHE experiences within her stolen corner of my brain. That makes it REAL enough for me to see it.....sometimes even smell it. It is simply a case that the visual signals of it come from an internal source instead of my optic nerves. (Hence also in her biography.....where she forces me to realise that I have no choice but to witness her evil atrocities....the more you try to avoid seeing it...the more it is simply there!). The degree of REALITY depends upon two things...... One...consistency of behavoir. Two...strength of input signal...including a good or weak mind's eye. Consider this......how many time do we hear a faint noise and we are not sure if we really heard it or not? It is common. To even think you heard something lends it some reality....maybe enough to make you check it out hmmm......but maybe it did not happen afterall....so how much reality was it? You see...it is a question of degree not merely real versus unreal. A weak, silent minds eye image maybe almost unreal....a strong and vocal minds eye experience maybe very real! Understanding this places you in intellect above the closed minded grown ups who say stop playing games its childish and not real. I get this often from my in-laws....but so grounded in their own beliefs they would not even listen long enough for me to explain the above. Their reality is tv soccer....newspapers...wine circles...running a business.... But they have no....MINDS and even less imagination......... Edited by Rick, Jul 22 2016, 04:51 AM.

Woo, Bruma road trip! This is exciting! Yay for Andur and his brother. *happy dance* I am also frequently baffled by these people who show up in my brain and tell me their stories. What makes me scratch my head is when they do certain things in game that mystify me, but when I go back and read their stories so far, what they did makes sense. Writing and playing from the subconscious, I guess. |
