I have managed to play Nokandu a bit lately, but haven't had the time to sit down and write up his latest exploits. He's still alive, though, and has hit double-digit levels. :)

It seems that word travels fast, because the Whiterun locals, even the guards, started treating Nokandu better. Nokandu was told a rumor that there is Imperial activity near a town called Helgen. It seems like a good place to stay away from.

A young woman in Whiterun asked this one to find her a Mammoth Tusk. She was told by Ma'dran that in exchange for a tusk, Ma'dran would help her to become a merchant. This one knows Ma'dran quite well, and does not believe that the offer is genuine. This one thinks that Ma'dran gave this lady an impossible task, to get rid of her, but Nokandu gave her a tusk he had found at Halted Stream, and she gave this one some suggestions about bartering. Nokandu wished her well, and will be interested to see if any good comes of it.

One of the guards cautioned Nokandu to be careful if he hunted near Brittleshin Pass. This, of course, made Nokandu quite curious, so he decided to go there next. So this one brewed some new potions, and bought two new spells from the jarl's wizard, Summon Fire Atronach and Soul Trap.

Nokandu went to Brittleshin Pass, and found there a necromancer and some skeletons. The necromancer tried to use frost magic on Nokandu, but this one had potions protecting him from that element, and easily killed the mage. Inside the pass, Nokandu found an enchanting table. This will be very useful. Nokandu enchanted a bow with fire damage, and he put some extra magicka regeneration into a ring.

Nokandu dragged the necromancer's corpse away, and dumped it into the lower chamber, so that it would not stink up the enchanting room.

On the other side of the pass, Nokandu found a lake. He followed along the edge of the water until he reached a small town called Riverwood, and there he stayed for the night.

In the morning, when this one left the inn, he was accosted by an orc in strange heavy armor, who tried to enlist Nokandu for some kind of vampire-hunting group. Nokandu wants to stay far away from vampires, so he replied sarcastically, "Oh, goodie, vampire hunting! Where does this one sign up?" For some reason, this one was taken seriously.

Orcs are not very bright, this one thinks.

This one had not gotten ten more paces before a courier came running up and handed him a letter from the Jarl of Falkreath. Since Falkreath was the direction that Nokandu's feet were pointing anyway, this one decided to respond to the letter.

The Jarl of Falkreath is a stupid small-minded man, but he pays well. This one made 750 septims for clearing out a bandit camp. In addition, this one also made another large bundle of money for recovering a priest's journal from a cave full of nasty mages. This one could not see such value in the journal; Nokandu read it, and it was filled with rambling thoughts.

But Nokandu was grateful for the money. This one now had enough money to buy a fine piece of land overlooking the lake, and to build there a cabin.

The cabin was remarkably easy to build. It seemed almost to build itself. Nokandu now has a small house, with a garden and a smelter for making gold ingots. This one is learning to make jewelry, and will sell it. Perhaps one day, this one will be wealthy, and perhaps not.

But Nokandu has found a home.

Well, he's at a good "stopping point" for the moment. With the new competition presumably starting in a few days, I think we'll let our khajiit friend have a well deserved rest.

But I like him, too, so I think we'll continue his (mis)adventures in the future. :)

Yeah, when I first started writing Nokandu's story, I realized that it was going to be about his reaction to things, rather than the things themselves. So the action is offstage, because it's not interesting to Nokandu. :)

It's fun to try to get inside an alien mind.

Orcs are like Nords, except more green, and with tusks like baby mammoths. Maybe a little more attractive than Nords, this one thinks. But with worse breath.

Nokandu was tasked with cleaning out a mine called Bilegulch. Who names these places, this one would like to know? Or perhaps this one would prefer not to know.

On the way to the mine, this one was accosted by a sketchy-looking Nord, who handed Nokandu a heavy suit of enchanted armor, and sneaked away down the road.

A second Nord, this one outfitted as a hunter, came running down the road, passed the first Nord, and asked Nokandu if he had seen anyone running by. This one pointed at the sneaky one, who was standing in the middle of the road, and the hunter seemed to see him for the first time. When Nokandu left them, the thief was hiding behind a rock, and the hunter was shooting arrows at the rock.

Nords are strange. Perhaps it has something to do with breathing too much cold air. Or perhaps it is the mead.

In any case, Nokandu has enchanted banded iron armor to sell, if he can lug it to town.

Nokandu climbed the rocks and entered the place from above, as is always wise, and he attacked the three Orcs outside the mine from behind, without being seen.

The Orc inside the mine was heavily armored. Nokandu shot him with a poisoned arrow, and when he fell paralyzed to the ground, this one filled him with so many arrows that he looked like one of the Pork-o-Pines that Nokandu once saw at the Carnival in Bravil.

Nokandu left with a big bag of the rich green ore from which Orcs make their weapons. He will make a fine bow from this ore.

Nokandu slept the night at the mine, and in the morning he returned to Falkreath.
