I was hoping to get all the way through Dragonborn in this round. I'm not sure if time will allow it, though. |

I was, too, but I don't think it will happen. I'm already more than halfway through my allotted time. 2 Named Dragons 13 Dragons 1 Blood Dragon 1 Mask (Krosis) And I hope I'm not encountering a glitch. Giselle failed to absorb a soul from the most recent dragon (last night's Blood Dragon), and I'm hoping that it's a one-time thing. If not, I'll have to reload back to the time of the last successful soul absorption (Sahloknir.) |

How do you have dragons if you haven't started the random attacks from MQ? They're not at word walls until you start that quest. Mod? |

So......this being so much fun and several peeps wanting to have the time to complete the Dragonborn questline, would it be worth a poll of those playing to increase the time allotment for this round? :teehee: :bonk: :pst: :tes: |

No, I was perhaps unclear. I was "returning to Riverwood" after having been to Ustengrav, to retrieve the Horn from the dirty rotten innkeeper who had purloined it. :) The dragons appear at word walls after Dragon Rising, right? I did have an unexplained random attack in Riften, which I mentioned. That also occurred after Dragon Rising, but before A Blade in the Dark. I can't explain that; I have no mods running that could account for it. |

I think I would oppose extending the time, even though it would benefit me. I like the time constraints, as I think they "level the field" for people playing at different difficulties, or who have "real lives." Without a time limit, a person who has lots of available playing time could take as long as they wanted building up a character, or they could get more done by playing for more hours than anyone else. Normally I don't have more than a couple of hours a day to play, but I've just happened to be in a period where I do have time. Also, for some reason, I haven't managed (yet) to get my character killed. I have no explanation for that. :) |

Oh. Random dragon attacks start as soon as you complete Dragon Rising. Didn't know you'd already completed that. I usually don't even go see the Greybeards. If you want to start Dragonborn, you have to finish The Horn if Jurgen Windcaller. Maybe that's what confused you? |

Current time limit is cool by me and there's nothing to say that folks can't take their character (if they survive) on through the quest line after their 60 hours are up. :) (nothing after the 60hours would count toward the competition, to be clear) Edited by Brambleberry, Jul 21 2016, 02:55 PM.

I'm with Glargg on the reasons for the time constraints. I know I haven't started and that may seem a reason for my opinion, but it's not. Pretty much the more free time one has the longer on can play, not exactly fair to those who work full time or have school full time. .. because they could always "win", I don't care if I win, because I play for the fun of it, but having an equal opportunity to win is only right. |

I like the time limit, too, so that more people can play. There's nothing to stop folks from continuing their games post-contest, just count your score at 60 hours and ride on. That's what I'll do if I don't get Jonna killed during the round. |

Actually, my error was that I knew that random dragon attacks didn't occur during "A Blade in the Dark," but I had forgotten that they could happen before that quest starts (after "Dragon Rising".) Thus my surprise at the attack in Riften. :) The Dragonborn DLC starts after you see the Greybeards the first time (The Way of the Voice.) Before you get the Horn. If you fail to meet the Cultists when you descend to Ivarstead, they will appear at some other location. UESP Dragonborn Page I'm well beyond that stage now, and could go to Solstheim at any point. I just don't think I'll have time to complete that quest line, and it's not worth starting it if I can't complete it, since you actually start losing dragon souls to Miraak. |

That's what I'm thinking of doing, too. I've never played a character who intentionally went around killing as many dragons as possible. :) |

The no soul absorb has been in the game since its release. This happens when you kill a Word Wall dragon the second time (not a random spawn dragon). So if you're hunting dragons and you come across one at a word wall you've already killed you will have to manually keep track of that kill because you won't get a soul (that is, the game won't count it in the stats). Sorry to sound quite incredulous But We've all played for hundreds of hours right (thousands in fact) Am I to believe that what Bram just said is NOT common knowledge? I mean we all know that killing a second spawn of a dragon at the same as its original type does not liberate a soul right? You will get bones though. A respawn....but of a NEW...higher level dragon will however liberate a soul cos its treated as a new dragon rather than the old dead one reanimated. This....could be a bug, but if it is its a darned clever one....why....cos as Dragonborn, when you take the soul...its gone....forever....so reanimating an already soul absorbed dragon should not logically liberate a soul. You have already had it, you see! But seriously.....I thought everyone would have got that by now....and without Wikipedia, like how could you miss it? Shrug! Edit....I'm starting to get itchy....maybe I should let the Contessa take a stab. I'll decide during the coming week. Six hours per day is no sweat. PS....ooooh,,yes, you really should lift that time bar! I would LOVE to do this on unlimited.....Muhahahaha  PS PS.....where is Sah? :( Edited by Rick, Jul 21 2016, 05:15 PM.

Isn’t it fun?! :D My Dragonborn characters tend to have more complicated lives than Jonna. She is all go! And we have Blood Dragons! Well, just one so far. That was a very long fight at Arcwind Point. Followed by an even longer and more frantic one with a Draugr Death Overlord. That was a huge surprise. Yikes! She shouldn’t see any others for many more levels. Re. dragon soul absorbing issue, I have heard some wild explanations over the years including “Beth did that so we can’t farm dragon souls” and “You can only have three souls at a time,” but experience tells me it’s a bug. Maybe a load order issue? edit: screwup related to reading nested quotes! Edited by Grits, Jul 21 2016, 05:29 PM.

Sorry, Rick, I thought it was glargg who had the bug. :P PS3 players like me still have that one in the unpatched bug collection that Bethesda left us with. PC players can correct it (along with many other unresolved issues) but of course this is Skyrim so one fix can produce two new bugs. I’ve accidentally gotten my patches out of order and experienced the return of the dragon soul bug (not in Jonna's game) (yet), but correcting my load order fixed it. |

Is it a sporadic bug? Because I more often than not get a soul from a dragon at a word wall that I've already killed. Sometimes I don't, most of the time I do. Which is weird. Maybe one of my mods "fixes" it, idk. |

I believe Rick has it right in that let's say when you go to the wall the first time you have a blood dragon. The next time (that is enough time has passed) if you are still near your level you were you may again encounter a blood dragon and not receive a soul. If, however, you have leveled sufficiently and now you encounter an Elder dragon, then when it dies you will get a soul because the game believes it to be a "new" dragon. A rather quirky set up by Bethesda, but that's how they roll. ;) It probably feels sporadic because sometimes you have a character that levels slowly and encounters it, but most characters level at a faster rate and never see the "bug". Just a surmise of the situation as I've experienced and not really based in hard fact. Edited by Brambleberry, Jul 21 2016, 08:50 PM.
