I read what you had of Kothet's story, and i really enjoyed it. The background you gave him is more than plausible for him to be in Tamriel, and so very interesting! I read a lot of fantasy fiction, but never about a character anything like a dremora. I like that he not only looks different, he IS different! You've portrayed him really well. :)

Edit: Sorry, but that character had me thinking, and I wanted to explain a little better why I like him,. In the best of the books I read about supernatural, or 'Other' beings or creatures, their 'otherness', or non-human aspect is brought to the forefront. It's what they are, NOT a human who happens to look different. They have different ideas, different mores and values, and that's portrayed very well. Many can pass as human, but the reader quickly realizes they aren't. I like Kothet for this, even as he has learned much of the human world of Tamriel. You can do a lot with his story, and thanks for putting it out there for us. :)

You're making me wonder whether publishing the mod I made to play as a Dremora is worth it. I only allowed the player to wear the same kit that the summoned one gets, so I suspect I'd get lots of complaints, but as an add-on to the HF mod it might be acceptable.

I think that's likely to be why there are so few. The way armor works, you'd have to update all the forms to allow the extra race, and that then makes the mod incompatible with any other race mod. The Dremora would also not be able to wear any mod-added armor (and armor includes clothing, jewels, etc. - even hair). My Dremora mage wears nothing but the Arch-mages Amulet (another of my mods) and I had to override that item to make it wearable.

Yeah, new custom races are - difficult. I had issues even with the half-elf mod I used for so long, after getting back into the game a year ago, and updating/getting new mods. The body mod I was using (thepal's nude fem) wasn't updated, and UNP Skinny didn't agree with the half-elf body. Newer jewelry mods didn't work well either, nor weapons and cloaks - horrible clipping. Oh well.

So far, the Argonian's going well enough - I wish there were better face mods out there. I think I'm going to use the Marshwalker mod that's got the "humanized" head. And boy do I wish weapons were closer to her body....

I don't know.. of you enjoy the Mod, then it's are worth it. I have not come up with a story I wish to tell about a Dremora Lord, I may in the future.

I'm not an "Evil character " type person. .. and while I can think of a couple reasons why a Dremora wouldn't be evil...I can't come up with a whole story arch.

Aside from that...simple is sometimes better... as long as the Dre mora is wearing some kind of clothes some people will be happy. ..others won't be happy period.

Hope that makes sense...

Well, the premise of the mod is that the Dremora just want to be associated with the Dragonborn (for the glory), not that the player character is one of the Kyn. Any of the mods works just as well for any race, but they have a bias towards one that would be "most suited". I played it with several Dremora, and with a petite Breton for contrast, while I was testing.

However, I do expect users to say "I like how the housecarl looks, so I'd like to play as one."

The Kyn are essentially a race of mercenaries, loyal to their employer, and in Oblivion, that was Dagon. But when you summon one as a player in Skyrim (or Oblivion), they'll loyally uphold your values (or at least fight for them). I don't consider them "evil" unless "under contract" to an evil faction.

Hmmm I'll think about it, Winter really needs a home, aside from the college. Really I need two things... Her a home and a place where Ryuu will be... but really for him I need her to fight through something for him..

Dremora would be perfect for her then....I'm not home but I'll get a list of the mods I already have with her and ask if they look compatible.

Edit:I think the most pertinent mod's for compatibility is:

Grimoire
SkyPE
BVFE- Better Vampire eyes and fangs
Deadra of Coldharbor
Underworld Awakening - Hybrid eyes

Most everything else I'm using is changeable... but Deadra of Coldharbor is a must, because it will not only add the spell's I want, it add's enemies... plus summon-able Dremora The enemies are a pivot point in her story. .

Edit 2: Do you have to be Dragonborn? cause I'd have to remove "You are Not Dragonborn"..

The letter from the Kyn is sent after you've been noticed as dragonborn, as that's their reason for wanting to be on your side. So I should probably note the compatibility issue on the Nexus.

How far into the Main Quest? After the 1st trip to see the Greybeards or after you give them the Horn back?

I had not planned on Winter being Dragonborn... So I may just do a different Character and try out that mod, but I had a Bosmer planned 1st...her story is in concept and outline form.

Much earlier. I don't remember if you need to return to Balgruuf from the watchtower, or if I just checked for the stage where Mulmunir dies, and you get the first word of Unrelenting Force unlocked. But then the courier is triggered by another event and I think it's your next level up.

I have a lot of courier startups in these mods, as they need no added dialogue, and some are triggered by location change, and some by level-ups.

The Argonian one is done from location, and so is the Orc one. When you leave Largashbur after the Cursed Tribe, there's a check on the friends count. When you leave Darkwater Pass, or Avanchnzel, there's a check on both quests completed. Bosmer one doesn't have a courier. I can't remember how the Khajiit one triggers. That makes me think I did Dremora on level-up, because I know I did that at least once!

ghastley, the Argonian mod is really nifty. It's WAY too dark in there though - can you tell me what to tweak in CK (or with xedit) so it's brighter?

As with every player home, I need to move things around a bit, and add lots more "pretty containers" named storage for things, as well as the Carpenter's Workbench from Hearthfire Extended, and the Restringing Bench/Fletching station from Nock to Tip - and while I can see better in there using Henry's Amulet of Light, that casts weird shadows part of the time.

Simplest thing is to change the ambient light level for the cell. I went dark for the "underground" ambience, but feel free to adjust if it's too dark

I'm still messing around with add-ons to Orc Hearthfires.

This is Yarob, who will become the Wise Woman once you rescue her.

The Dragon Priest mask she's wearing is cursed, and has taken her over. You need to defeat her so that the curse is lifted, and then she'll destroy the mask and join your "tribe". With the mask off, she'll look like the character in the mod's banner image, with red hair and face paint.

I've created a new dungeon for her (Hervik's Lair) and populated it with draugr, one of which holds the key to the chamber where she's confined. It has a few traps, and some minor loot to collect, too.

I haven't got the scene working yet for the fight end / mask destruction. Each piece works, but the stages aren't linking automatically, perhaps because it doesn't have recorded dialog yet. I still have some more work after that in scripting her move to the Stronghold. That will enable some more clutter in her hut, including shrines to Malacath and Dibella - for Strength and Beauty - which I'm thinking of using as activators to control her outfits.

Once she arrives, she'll recruit a male smith (so she's not bored while the player is off adventuring). He can probably use vanilla dialog only.

I've started to port Orc Hearthfires to SSE, Tests OK, but that was from loose files, and I need to create and test a bsa. There's a bit of confusion on how to make them, as not all methods work.

Screenshots from SSE as soon as I remember to turn on Fraps before I start the game. :ugh:

Ok I got the Orc Hearthfires Special Editions versions added at the Nexus for PC and Betheda.net for Xbox1.

I've clearly built it in my own game to test the PC, but I need it checked out on Xbox, too.

Since I followed Kurdan here to find out how he got on building Greenspring Stronghold, and others had mentioned using others, I thought I'd start a thread for any feedback/requests on the Hearthfires mods.

Apart from a couple of others that extend/change the DLC content without requiring any extra building work by the player, it seems that I'm the only one building on the Hearthfires DLC.

So who's using Orc Hearthfires?
or Argonian Hearthfires
or Khajiit Hearthfires,
and has anyone tried Dremora Hearthfires?
uhmmm hello ghastley :hi: ........its you the same ghastley from nexus

do you make mods to order ?..............needs a armor unique for this ones videos in light & heavy ........a Sah Armor ........sexy & kinky?

also you have no videos of your armor mods? ...........this one could do a fashion show for you with any upcoming SSE mod
s

:bunny:
