I don't remember the penalty, but it was kinda steep. ..minus 100 points? Per gained point of non given skills.

I'm at work atm so can't really link to anything, or I don't know how....hopefully someone else can.

The penalty was simply say -1000 points off your net score for every whole skill point "illegally" used (which is meant to be steep to heavily discourage using the wrong skills). I don't recall the round we used this in...maybe 9-11 on Bethsoft.

AREIAL...do you remember hon? It was one of the later rounds....

Hmm... Well, I'll be home tomorrow all day so I can have a look at it and start preparing things... *Sigh* I really wanted to write a bit tomorrow, though...

AS I recall, the penalty was as Rick said... a thousand points per illegal skill point gained. Also, I'm pretty certain it was not long before "Far Harbor" came out for FO4.

Yeah, the penalty has to be steep, or it wouldn't be a deterrent to somebody just making their favorite "build." As I recall, we allowed two free "skill levels" in case of accidentally clicking on skill books or whatever.

The really fun part will be if there's no armor or weapon skill. With 8 (10) random skills, it's possible to not get 1Hand, 2Hand, Archery, Destruction, Light Armor, and Heavy Armor. We'll all be playing naked fist-fighting Conjurers. ;)

Edit: On second thought, a naked fist-fighting Conjurer sounds like fun...

There's a mod for skill books that might be worth considering for competition rounds: Non-Automatic Skill Books

I think I'm tracking that mod. Definitely a nice little feature.

I like it - because I REALLY hate not being able to pick up and cart home skill books I don't WANT the skills from! I'm a book hoarder, but I don't learn skills I won't use....

Guilty book hoarder, as well. At least one of my Hearthfire homes always has the Library addition. I even alphabetize the books, but I keep journals and notes separate.

That's exactly what I do! I also keep Treasure Maps and Notes in their own little scroll rack (from the FPI Gallery mod).

Ooh, I'll need that. I usually keep the overflow in the vanilla chest, or the strongbox.

The FPI Gallery for Console Decorators

You're going to need all the Jaxonz things too probably - especially Positioner and Renamer. This link is to Jaxonz' author files page on nexus: Jaxonz Files

Well, there's a LOT of reasons (over 200 and counting) I'm not messing with SSE for a long time - see my modlist elsewhere....

Some ideas for a Thieves Guild round:

X amount of points for MQ
X amount of points for Radiant Quests
X amount of points for Stones of Barenziah + Crown
X amount of points for Litany of Larceny
X amount of points for Guild Master
X amount of points for certain perks?*

*would emphasize a need to level speech/pickpocket/lockpicking, etc.

How about a penalty for killing (humans at least)? It will make sneaky burglar types more important. The penalty can't be too stiff, though, since it's Skyrim and everyone is trying to kill you.
