LoL Neil... I had a guy ( who btw kept calling me "man" and "bro" even after I told him I am female) who PM'd me.. and insisted that Legendary is the ONLY way to have a difficult game. So this is what I finally told him.. I will concede that Legendary is the only Hard or difficult way to play IF and ONLY IF you can get an Adept level character 100% though the MQ and Dragonborn under these circumstances: ( we were both on 360) * brightness turned down so that you need torch at night or in caves.. you can test this by turning the brightness down on a moonless night in Whiterun.. their should be NO light between the braziers. * Turn the "danger's" coming music OFF... footsteps OFF, HUD OFF.. * skills... melee ONE ( 1h can have block) ...ranged ONE...armor type ONE...Smithing only and you can only temper once per each 10 lvl's... only perked skills and only skills allowed to lvl up ( skill book's aside) DiD.. dead is dead... one shot.. cause Adept should be easy for someone used to Legendary.. Never heard from him again... He wasn't even much on the forum after that. |

As far as I know...there are two well known advocates of the Legendary difficulty (and required play style that accompanies it) on these forums who are likely to take all this in.... Myself and Sah So.....what are we to think of this? Are we the un named offenders here? Are we looking down a gun barrel Neil? Or did you have someone else in mind? It would be nice to know eh! No rick, you are neither the center of the universe, nor the target of this conversation, regardless of whether you and Sah are the only ones other than myself who play on Legendary and also currently frequent this forum. You see, one of the nice things about this forum is that we (and that does include you) can come here and vent without fear of warnings or banhammers falling on our heads. Unless you'd care to confess to having a condescending attitude towards anyone who plays "easy" modded games that aren't on Legendary? :) |

Errrr Rick.. did ya read the post right above? #321? cause unless you've changed your sign-on...Not you I was talking about. You and Sah aren't the only advocate's of Legendary.. ever.... and unless you have been condescending, then the shoe doesn't fit. Lately yes... you and Sah are the few who have stuck around, but I've been on the forum's since '08 (different sign-on)... Neil since '09 ( unless he had a different sign on) I changed my sign-on because of an idiot that was bothering me in the Oblivion forum.. and I don't go there now...because he's still around, though not a "regular". Pretty sure he has a couple sign-on's.. or a clone...cause I've had one "sign-on" banned for harrassement . OK...I'm moody atm... but Rick, If I had been talking about you...I would have used your name...cause when I errrr bash friend's...I do so to their faces, not behind their back's. I'm an up-front kinda person, you aught to know that.. Did I not PM you with one problem I had and let you know? Do you not think I would at the very least be polite enough to not pussy-foot around? Damn, I gotta go ta work... Just think what Kind of person I am and that aught to tell ya. |

Thank god.....now there are the words of the old Neil. I wondered where you had gone.....I almost missed that you know! I was just reading your long splurge to me on Beth....all about boasting and chest puffing etc....I guess that wasn't personal to me either then...sure felt pretty directed though...especially ending with that peculiar gaming challenge.....but right now is not a good time. I really should rise to your baits....like in the good old days eh! Sadly I just don't have it in me right now....sorry |

I do think the competition stuff needs to rest a bit, at least for me. I'm seriously thinking, after the holidays, of getting Requiem set up, because I need to change up Skyrim for my roleplay. I do think, long term, that it's going to be necessary to come up with a fairness rating system like has been proposed. Especially now that consoles have mods, to varying degrees. |

Rick, I know you're having a tough time of it... and you have my sympathy, believe me. I will find out tomorrow if my wife will be starting chemo in a week, and if so, I expect matters to go from bad to worse very shortly thereafter. Just imagine for a moment a frail woman suffering from terminal COPD who is only barely functional, also suffering from the effects of chemotherapy... However, that has nothing to do with my post on Beth, which also wasn't directed at you... Why aren't you saying that Areial's post and peculiar challenge on Beth was aimed at you? Look, there are many things in this world of forums and conversations that you aren't even aware of because: A. They didn't happen on forums you frequent. B. They are forbidden subjects. C. They pertain to Fallout 4 or other games with a legendary equivalent. I suppose it wouldn't surprise you to find out that I have a warning on Beth, but I'll bet you didn't know it... and you likely have no clue what caused it. Let's just say there are other factors at play here than just you, and I'd ask you not to insert yourself unless I directly point something at you by name. I'm not shy, eh? |

Neil, I am feeling sorry for Teri....truly, and I know you are stressed too. So, I will talk straight If you make posts that look crafted to fit me then don't be surprised if I react as though they are. But if you are saying that despite appearances its completely nothing to do with me....fine, I will ignore the apparant implications. But now you fire my Legendary curiosity... |

Talking straight is good, so I'll join you. I won't say when I think of legendary players that you never entered my mind... That would be a lie. The thing is though that for all of our disagreements in the past, you have never been condescending, nor much of a braggart, which pretty much precludes you from being the subject of my posts on Beth. I think you might want to look more in the direction of some others. Also, it's true that sometimes discussions I have on other forums carry over a bit because I may still be a bit angry when I'm posting. Your curiosity... Well, I don't want to go into all of it, but it really had to do with a few "Survival" players over on the FO4 board, and it devolved into a free-for-all. I wasn't the only one to come out of it with a warning... :) |

Only one warning Neil? For an old renegade thats rather disappointing ;) I'm sure the others came away with the bigger bruises :lmao: I suppose the mods have cleaned the wreckage off the road by now... |

No idea... It seems we will possibly be doing something modded in January, but other than that I don't know. Edited by neildarkstar, Nov 28 2016, 10:52 PM.

That sounds like a fun way to play, i'm gonna give it a go in January. I play by default with very dark nights (i have to tank to Laast and his Purity mod for this), but i never tried to turn off the sound. I use candlelight instead of a torch. Here is an interesting effect of the candlelight spell. |

Candlelight is a cool spell. I use it a lot when I'm on a horse at night. Either candlelight or magelight. Also, when I know there is an enemy out there in the dark but I don't know where, I summon a familiar, and cast magelight on it. Then all I have to do is watch the light to know where my enemy is. |

Yep....Candlelight, although seemingly centred upon the player character, does indeed provide a seeing ahead effect light a battery torch. I don't have such darkness (yet) but even in normal vanilla dark I found the effect really useful for checking ahead at encounter points to see what's lying in wait. Don't forget also the very useful side effect of the Become Ethereal shout which provides several useful seconds of a sort of Night Eye effect. Thanks for the vid :) |

Rick... those setting's were for the 360's sliders... specifically because it was a way to make the game harder. I even adjusted my TV ( and the show's looked batter) so that the game looked darker and less "washed out", it added a whole new lvl to the game. AfterDark... Their is more than one way to skin a cat... and butter's messy. Everyone play's different and I prefer to have one "Limited" style, even mage's and hybrid's only use a limited skill. This usually mean's that my characters don't lvl up as high as some, but... that's ok, they get to a point where the character and the enemies that he or she face are on a semi-level playing field... skill takes up the rest. |

I never said otherwise, i just shared a little bit of my experience with Skyrim and i'm always willing to try out new thing, so thank you for giving me that idea. I already chose to build a hunter type character (yeah, an archer that doesn't know where the enemy is) Archery, Light Armor, Sneak - main skills Block, Restoration, Smithing or Alchemy (haven't decided yet) and maybe Conjuration for Bound Bow - secondary skills. |

Sorry, that's just my way of expressing my way of playing and saying it isn't the only way....but that I'm glad it helped in some way. |
