Well, in any case, you can't disallow a perk that is a prerequisite for another perk. It's as simple as that.

Well...you CAN if no one wanted the dependent perk.....and.....everyone was happy to forego the advantage!

Of course human nature being what it is.....and the recovery perk IS highly desirable for a mage.....so I'd expect everyone to absolutely require the Avoid Death facility ;)

And you are right that with all pc users (everywhere) using USLEEP to keep their games stable and nice, one could not expect it to be simply regarded as an advantageous mod ( although it is).

However, amends can be made! With a bit of the old Pro Rata, Quid Pro quo.

For example.....I Get killed by that damned extra damage perk archer that I KNOW is overpowered....probably due to that engine bug usleep fixes, ....that death could be ruled unfair and reloadable......as it should be imo.
And then there's those Restoration potion drinkings (one per use) already agreed as allowable actually...I just feel uncomfortable taking the advantage. Well maybe not getting so uncomfortable then, if I know it's a fair trade off for not getting the recovery perks.

That feels like a flatter field already :)

Having said all of that.....none of it would help me one jot in raising magic skills and I don't know any shortcuts or strategies to good magic.

Hmmm....I was in two minds whether to give it a go at all.....cos I'm gonna be so crap.....but...it could be a fun round on Adept and I guess by the end of it I'd know a lot more about magic strategy.

I know Adella would love it, buuuuut I'm a fighter.....I hit stuff

However, if this round converts me into wearing a bloody robe....I will not only swallow my own staff :X ....I will be jolly annoyed.

Rick, your post got me thinking....would that perk "avoid death" be what was put in game to mitigate the Scavenger that one shot kills with his uber smack down when the Oblivion Daedra infuse him with that extra damage?

I personally have never perked it, but now you've got me thinking...
Edit.....This is Bram!
Sorry, but I Don't think it works like that. As I understand it....whatever big hit you take MUST leave you still alive at 10% or less health.

Then it kicks in to hopefully prevent imminent death. But if you have 400 health and bad Boy does 401 point damage you still die.

Otherwise it would be worth me having to mitigate that bugged extra damage perk on random archers.

So imo it's pretty useless.....especially at high levels where you might have several hundred health and be shot at or hit for several hundred health. 250 would not save you from the next heavy strike or....more vitally....the dreaded kill cam....

Ps....looks like I screwed up the quote box thing...shrug...I'M Rick

@Rick - you may be correct, however as you know what it says it does on the wiki isn't necessarily what it does in game. One of those "actual in-game" tests might be in order to see just how it really functions.

*runs off to find a killer :bunny: to test the theory* :lmao:

Agreed, but I Don't have time to raise restoration sufficient to get and try the avoid death perk.

You could achieve that with console commands....though again.....no guarrantee it works the same on xbox/ps3.

And yeah.....I Always take Wiki with a pinch of salt.....mostly itbis good...but!

Avoid Death should be called Avoid NEAR Death. If the hit is enough to kill you, it still kills you.

Rick, I don't remember seeing any rule that requires you to be a "robe wearer" or to fight using magic. It's completely up to you if you want to waste time raising armor ratings and crafting nasty maces. ;)

Their isn't.... I plan on doing a "spellsword" type... for the lower levels anyway. Armor until enchanting and alteration is high enough to take good effect. More Runes than area effect spells...until a certain Black Book is gotten...then Watch out...cause no harm to the follower, then Fire storm and Lighting storm can be used to good effect.

I have no idea what I'm going to do. I think I'll just come up with a mage-y character, and just roleplay until the objectives come in sight. I haven't played an Altmer for a while. :)

I was thinking Altmer, but can't seem to get the look I want... I've created male and female...neither is "speaking" to me, sooo I'm going to see if I can't get a Breton to talk to me..

Well, what can you expect from a haughty Altmer....they're not going to talk to some non mer are they.

@Glargg....Yeah....Battle mage for me......strong emphesis on 'battle' less so on mage.
I can already feel her ladyship digging her stilettoes in.....

I think I'm gonna have a bit of internal discord in this round.

Thinks....Ooooh....how apt..... i-nternal d-iscord.....id. Maybe I Should have renamed her "id". Ooooooh....she doesn't like that..right now!
According to Freud the id is the source of...
Impulsive drives, libido, the desire to kill and pro-create. It doesn't do reason and it does not understand ideas of good or evil. It contains our darkest wants and simply demands its own way.

Does that sound like someone we know..............I love her really :)

I also need to research this 'black book' of which Areial speaks.....I know that's a DB quest thing and I'm not getting into that Apocrypha place, unless I can get right back out again.....never been there, but I watched Sah! (Where are you Sah :( )

Think I might need 180 hours for this one.....and a stand in to keep casting destruction for me while I sleep......

I'll be playing a Breton Sorceror. I'm very excited for this round. The dynamic difficulty is a nice twist and will let perk heavy builds really be playable immediately.

Adella.....you are one seriously disturbed lady....you don't even need an excuse do you. Look, you're not even supposed to be out here now! A Rottweiler would be less of a handful.

Anyhow, back to things that MATTER.....perks!
I need as minimums about 4 in light armour, 4 in one handed, 8 for enchanting, 4 in smithing and 8 in alchemy.....that's um...28 BEFORE I start to do magic stuff. The magic trees need like eight perks each to get anything really good!!!

How can anyone be expected to do spell stuff....(shakes head) this is impossible.....I need to be about level 68 to get it all switched on!

What about training....let see.....at high levels is like two grand per point for everything....god...I'd need like half a million Septims, just in tuition fees....you won't get that from iron daggers !

This is gonna be HARD!

Oh...well....I always say I like it tough.....time to put my money where my mouth is (no! Not there).....

Yeah it's meant to be hard...and mostly magic, though other skills can be used. I'm looking forward to it..though I will miss my Two "magic" mods... one changes the College, the other add's spell's and fixes.

hmmm naaa I think Eric or Vorstag... I'd love to get Argis, but it takes to much to get him. I prefer a tank to go with my "mage" and he/she will be a mage by the end.

I’m torn between an orc and a Redguard sorcerer. I’ll probably go orc. I love a misfit mage. :P

Random thought: does the Orc berserk rage apply to spells? Never tried that....

It applies to powers because it's an orc power. C'mon, Kane :D
