Books Regular 940 read (not sure about this number because I think the game counts books that you open that have already been read so we may need to rethink this scoring or literally count the unique books we've kept in a container)
Skill 49
Black 5

Bram it's not how many you read it's how many you have aka own at the end of the game...

so IF you have 910 books... 910 x 10 ( plus 25 for each collection that is complete). I knew this could be a high number, which is why the "points" are low. Doubles and triples still count.. so if you have 3 "Yellow book of Riddles" it's 30 points...but you must "own" them end game. Either in a container or on the character, IF a follower is carrying them, the follower must be with you.

and :bravo: ....your doing great!

Ar'Ryai is wondering around Whiterun Hold killing wolves, bandit's and mudcrabs to raise her 1h, conjuration, Alteration and destruction....3 points from "soul stealer"...then the fun begins!

Sorry Areial we already answered that question, but I didn't properly edit my cut and paste from my last update. :bang: It was rather late last night here when I posted.

Phineas Gage has passed away, under mysterious circumstances. While in Benkongerike, he was laying waste to some Rieklings when he collapsed dead. He was level 37, was the Archmage of the College of Winterhold, slayer of 3 dragon priests, and possessor of 3 black books. How he died at full health (422) while wearing full Nordic Carved Armor will remain a mystery. His game lasted 29 hours and 29 minutes. Good luck to the survivors.

I did to no avail. My best guess is that a Riekling snuck in a rocket propelled grenade in place of a spear and one shot him.

You know this isn't like the other rounds? A new character ( and I just started one) would be a Zombie with 70 hr's.

Perhaps....the npc 3x extra damage perk has struck again!

Mysterious instant kills by enemies that, shouldn't in theory, be capable of dealing such massive damage.

Its certainly the trade mark of the much hated effect!

Edit....yes....Areials right....you can start again and still have 70 hours to do well.

Undaunted my friend, yes! Back into the saddle....go for it...

Rick, I know. When Skyrim wants you dead, you're going to die.

Arieal, I know I could start again, but Phineas was an absolute Juggernaut, so for him to die so randomly really (on Expert no less) really stinks. I hadn't given an update in a bit, but here are some of his recent highlights:
- Was conjuring Seekers, Dremora Lords, Ash Spawn and Storm Atronachs depending on the scenario
- Destruction was finally rising thanks to Storm Wall and Incinerate, which are absolutely devasting.
- Destruction was at zero spell cost, Conjuration at 75% reduction
- His silver swords were hitting for upwards of 735 damage, thanks to all elemental augment perks and chaos damage
- His health was over 400!

I'm still not sure how he died. Maybe it was cardiac arrest.

Maybe in a day or two I'll jump back in.

735 Damage? Whaaaat!

Thats mostly magical.

The best PHYSICAL melee damage I've crafted....pulling all the allowable tricks in the book...and wearing all the strongest fortify gear topped out around 650 unenchanted.

Your sword could "two hit" kill Legendary Draugr Deathlords......wow!

Yes, the number I gave is the actual magical damage, not the physical. Done with only a +15 enchant potion. But its a chance to hit for that amount, 50% for each element (195 in this case), plus the damage from the second enchant (~150 for Phineas). Enchanting and Destruction play so nice together!

R.I.P. Phineas Gage (I blame Sheo, I mean who else is so random)!

Hopefully a couple days will give you new inspiration Rafer and a new juggernaut will be born! :)

Sorry to hear it Rafer! I've actually had I think... two high level characters one-shotted by reiklings. I was never able to detect anything really different about the ones that killed me off, either. I do know that the Reikling Bristleback riders can deal a huge amount of damage randomly though, but neither of these two were riders.

At any rate, you're quite correct that when Skyrim wants you dead, you're dead. I'm currently in a bit of a quandary myself over a dead character ambushed by Skyrim, but I'll have to explain that elsewhere...

Well you know my opinion about the 'Extra Damage Perk' it is damned hard to prove due to its sporadic nature....but if on reload you find that the npcs can't take more than say 2/3 of your health in one hit, under ANY circumstance..... then it's a pretty good bet you have just been a victim of the EDP.

Glargg reckons the game isn't balanced for high difficulties and I think hes right. On Adept with good armour you can survive the EDP....but on master and above..its curtains.....remembering Bethesda did not code the game with DiD players in mind! (or maybe they did  )

Add to that for us console players there is an engine bug which counts the EDP TWICE...making it almost impossible to survive (12x damage, then x3 for Legendary = 18x base npc damage) ... USLEEP patches out the double damage on PC (yes, I scrolled the change log and found it). But hell, the single upto 6x damage is more than bad enough!

So....taking all that into consideration....in my view....if you are fully satisfied** it was the grossly unfair and OP EDP operating....thats a re-load because to me its a bug that simply shouldn't be there, no different to say, a bridge glitching out as you cross it (Dragonbridge did that to me once).

**Fully Satisfied...is the hard part for us...we have to be 110% sure its not just a cop out to excuse a re-load. So I know we will be stringent to point that probably only the most blatant abuses of the EDP would actually be re-loaded.

Tail piece final thought...
The EDP is coded in....meaning it is no accident...therefore it is Beth's way of ENSURING your player char WILL die at some point.
For re-loaders this is no biggie...an occaisionsl annoyance is all.
And that is all Beth intends it to be for players...a fun jab to the chin.

But for us...on DiD...its a total game breaker. If you want your char to experience everything in the game world, or do a DiD competition, without dying...like a proper person, well the EDP will most likely stop you at some point, with consequent loss of hundreds of real hours...it is in fact for serious DiD enthusiasts...a most foul and wicked contrivance....that should be IGNORED and re-loaded without penalty or guilt.

Extra...how I would dearly love to get the idiot responsible for having it coded in...under a spot light and made to account for their actions....
Oh I'm serious,...because Beth must know about DiD play..its been around since RP gaming began....the coding in of this feature is malicious to the DiD fraternity. Yet they profess to create RP games! Living a single life..treating a char as though alive....is the ultimate expression of RP...so why deliberately code this game killer in.
(I think...it came in with an official patch or maybe dlc)

Done

(Reference source....Wiki....Skyrim Damage/ combat damage/ npc only
Gives a table....there are actually several of these perks at different strengths, but they can go upto 6x the unperked npc damage.)
